Lookout notice to be issued against cops arraigned in Malaparamba sex racket case
A lookout notice against two police drivers, who are accused of having links with the Malaparamba sex racket, will be issued soon. Police sources said the two — Shaijith of Perumanna and Sanith of Padanilam — were found absconding after they were arraigned in the case along with 10 others, including six women. Though the police carried out flash inspections with the support of the Cyber Cell at several locations, the two remained untraceable. The police said the statements of some of their relatives had been recorded as part of the ongoing probe. Shaijith's passport was also recovered from his home during the recent search, they added. The two police officers and a non-resident Keralite identified as M.K. Animesh were arraigned in the case based on strong digital evidence. Their bank statements and call detail records were collected to verify suspected financial transactions and communications with one of the arrested women. Based on an internal investigation report, the two officers were immediately placed under suspension by the District Police Chief (Kozhikode City). The suspected sex racket, which operated out of a rented facility near Malaparamba in the heart of the city, was busted on June 6. According to police sources, the special squad is in the process of collecting and analysing the call detail records of people suspected of exploiting the women. Three of the previously arrested women were interrogated again to verify newly gathered digital evidence related to the case.

Sex racket case: suspended cops to be quizzed soon
The two police drivers who were recently booked for their alleged links with a sex racket in Kozhikode city would be quizzed soon. However, senior police officers associated with the investigation at the Nadakkavu police station remained tight-lipped about the ongoing legal proceedings and the call detail records and bank transaction data already accessed, which reportedly revealed the duo's alleged links to the racket. The statements of the suspects, who were placed under suspension by the District Police Chief (Kozhikode City) following an internal investigation into the incident, are yet to be recorded. Sources said a notice would be issued soon, directing the two to appear for interrogation. Though a police squad reportedly searched their residences, the two were found missing. Their mobile phones had also been switched off for several days. The suspected inter-district sex racket was exposed on June 6 during a flash inspection at an apartment near Malaparamba, in the heart of Kozhikode city. Nine persons, including six women, were arrested at the time. Two police drivers, Shaijith and Sanith, along with a non-resident Keralite identified as M.K. Animesh, were later arraigned based on digital evidence.

Probe under way into cops' alleged link with sex racket in Kozhikode
The police have accessed Call Detail Records (CDR) of more persons as part of the investigation into the discreet network of a recently exposed sex racket in Kozhikode city. A preliminary CDR analysis, which already revealed the alleged links of two civil police officers with the racket, confirms that the racket has been in touch with some influential persons, including government servants, in the city. 'The two policemen, Shaijith and Sanith, who were arraigned in the sex racket case, have been placed under suspension by the District Police Chief [Kozhikode city] pending further investigation. They were drivers with the police control room,' said a police officer associated with the investigation. He said CDR analysis of 12 persons, including six women who were rescued from the spot, was progressing. Sources also confirmed that the arrest of the two police drivers would be recorded soon. Reports related to the department-level investigation conducted on their role in the case had already been forwarded to the higher authorities, they said. Apart from CDR evidence, the investigation team also retrieved some bank documents which revealed financial transactions allegedly carried out between the accused policemen and one of the arrested women. It was on June 6 that the suspected inter-district sex racket was exposed during a flash inspection at an apartment near Malaparamba in Kozhikode. The rented apartment was projected as a facility for accommodating women who offer bystander support to the needy in the nearby hospitals. According to the Nadakkavu police, nine persons, including two men who came to the spot as 'customers', were nabbed from the spot on June 6. The two policemen and a Non-Resident Keralite identified as M.K. Animesh, who allegedly sublet the building for the alleged illegal business, were arraigned in the case after a three-day-long investigation based on CDR analysis, they said.
