Eid carnage: 55 dead
At least 55 people lost their lives in various incidents across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa during the three-day Eidul Azha holidays, while 50 others sustained injuries in separate firing incidents. The injured were promptly shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. According to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Director General Rescue 1122, Shah Fahad, Rescue 1122 responded to a total of 1,999 emergencies during the Eid holidays and provided medical assistance to 1,897 individuals. Out of these, 1,400 were medical emergencies, with patients given first aid and subsequently transported to hospitals. The province witnessed 349 road accidents, the highest of which43 incidentswere reported in Peshawar alone. Furthermore, there were 112 cases of fire, six drowning incidents in rivers and dams, and 82 recovery operations. Rescue 1122 also responded to 50 crime-related incidents. Bilal Ahmad Faizi, spokesperson for Rescue 1122, confirmed that the 55 fatalities were distributed as follows: Peshawar,13 deaths, Mardan: 14, DI Khan, Abbottabad, Bannu, Buner, and Battagram: 2 deaths each, Nowshera, Bajaur, and Kurram: 3 deaths each, Haripur: 4, North Waziristan, Kohat, and Khyber: 1 death each reported to Rescue. In Peshawar alone, Rescue 1122 dealt with 418 total emergencies, including 43 road accidents, 338 medical cases.

Over 50 killed, dozens injured in accidents and shootings during Eid in northwest Pakistan
PESHAWAR: At least 55 people were killed and 50 others injured in various incidents across Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during the three days of Eid Al-Adha, rescue officials said on Monday. The fatalities were reported in traffic accidents, drowning incidents, fires and gun violence across multiple districts, including the provincial capital, Peshawar. The injured were taken to local hospitals for medical treatment, according to a statement released by Rescue 1122. 'The total number of deaths across the province during the Eid holidays has reached 55,' Shah Fahad, Director General of Rescue 1122 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said. 'Fifty others were injured in shooting incidents and provided emergency medical aid.' According to the data, Rescue 1122 responded to about 2,000 emergencies and provided medical assistance to 1,897 individuals across the province during Eid. These included 1,400 medical emergencies, 349 traffic accidents, 112 fire incidents, six drowning cases and 50 crime-related incidents. In Peshawar alone, the agency handled 418 emergency calls, including 43 road accidents, 338 medical cases, 20 fire incidents and eight gun-related injuries. A total of 431 patients were transported to hospitals in the city. District-wise, the highest number of fatalities was reported in Mardan (14) and Peshawar (13). Fire incidents on festive occasions in the province are often caused by barbecues or fireworks, while traffic accidents typically stem from congestion, reckless driving by youth and occasional road rage. Drowning incidents occur when people visit rivers or lakes for boating without adequate safety measures, and gun-related injuries often result from either criminal activity or celebratory gunfire.

Drug trafficker' held, partner flees
The Special Investigation Unit of the police arrested Ali Khan Nawab, an accused involved in inter-provincial drug supply, near P&T Flats, Sunset Boulevard Road, Gizri, recovering 520 grams of ice from his possession. Meanwhile, Shah Fahad, Nawab's accomplice, fled the scene. The value of the recovered drugs is Rs500,000. SSP Shoaib Memon revealed that during interrogation, Nawab claimed that the absconding accused, Shah Fahad, is the ringleader of the business, for whom Nawab has been running the Karachi network for about 6-7 years. Further, the arrested accused revealed that Fahad also had 12 eggs of cocaine worth about Rs4.5 million. Shah Fahad is allegedly running the largest inter-provincial network for the supply of cocaine and ice.
