Drier days, lower humidity starting Tuesday
An active storm track for us, with storms again today, but a change is coming. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] As the Jetstream lifts to the north and east, drier air comes in Tuesday into Wednesday. The humidity will drop off before going back up Thursday and into the weekend, as our storm chances increase. Tuesday has a 30% chance of rain but just isolated showers and storms. Very little if any rain Wednesday, with chances at just 20%. The scattered showers return as we wrap up the week and head into the weekend. Threat of strong, severe storms Friday night through Saturday morning
We have to stay weather aware this weekend – another system is going to bring multiple rounds of strong and potentially severe storms across north Georgia. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] There is a higher level of risk for the north and northwest part of the state, but still some risk for metro Atlanta and areas south and east. Late Friday night through early on Saturday morning, scattered severe storms could produce damaging wind gusts and large hail, as well as a low risk of a brief tornado. Risk for strong, severe storms starts Friday afternoon
A risk for strong and severe thunderstorms will start Friday afternoon and continue into early Saturday across north Georgia. Northwest Georgia faces a higher threat of severe weather, but metro Atlanta and areas south and east are also at risk of seeing severe storms producing damaging wind gusts and large hail. Threat of damaging winds, large hail from weekend storms
We are heading into an active weather pattern as we get closer to the weekend across north Georgia, especially Friday night and Saturday. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Late Friday night, a line of strong storms will approach northwest Georgia and move through the area overnight. The highest risk of severe weather is northwest of Atlanta. Storms within this line could have damaging wind gusts and large hail, as even in the month of June that severe weather threat continues. Showers, storms on the way for north Georgia as system forms off Atlantic coast
Our rain chances are going up in north Georgia, and the reason is a system we are watching closely in the tropics. It's the time of year where there can be the development of activity in the Gulf and the Atlantic off the East Coast. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Overall, the risk for tropical development along the southeast coast is low, at 10% in the next two days and 10% over the next seven days. Severe Weather Team 2 will be watching it carefully over the next few days, as showers and storms gather along the Atlantic coast. We will feel some impacts, at least indirectly, from this system on Wednesday and Thursday as tropical moisture spins back toward north Georgia. We will have showers and storms in our forecast.
