13 things car insurance doesn't cover
Full coverage car insurance protects you and your vehicle in many situations, from fender benders and fallen tree branches to vandalism and theft. But there are a surprising number of things most basic policies won't cover, like personal items in your car, roadside assistance, custom parts and collisions outside the U.S. Here are 13 scenarios not covered by standard auto insurance and how you can ensure you're protected. Offers in this section are from affiliate partners and selected based on a combination of engagement, product relevance, compensation, and consistent auto coverage is available in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Not even full coverage will reimburse you for an oil change, tire rotation or getting new air filters. But you can often get a prepaid maintenance plan or a set period of mileage from your dealership, garage or a third-party provider. Full coverage car insurance, which adds comprehensive and collision protection, covers the theft or vandalism of your vehicle, but not personal property inside the car. A homeowners or renters insurance policy can protect personal property stolen from your car. If you have comprehensive coverage, your vehicle is covered for water damage caused by flooding, rain or hail. It does not cover water damage due to maintenance or neglect, like a slow leak or leaving your window open during a storm. Your personal liability, collision and comprehensive coverage generally apply if you rent a car within the U.S. or Canada. You may want to consider rental car insurance, however, if you have limited coverage or are outside North America. You may be able to get a policy from the rental car company through your credit card company. If you're using the rental car for business, however, your personal policy likely won't cover it. Home Care Advisory Group Releases 2025 OPWDD Program Eligibility Guide
Home Care Advisory Group (212-540-2984) has published an OPWDD support eligibility guide for 2025. New York, United States, February 6, 2025 -- The Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD ) offers a wide range of programs to benefit both individuals with disabilities and those who care for them on a daily basis. Those interested in these programs can now consult this new guidance from the Home Care Advisory Group (HCAG) to learn about the latest requirements for eligibility in 2025. As HCAG explains, many individuals who are in need of assistance find it intimidating to apply for aid due to the sheer breadth of services offered by the OPWDD. With its guide, HCAG seeks to simplify the process and break down the basic types of services offered by the Office to help those struggling with the process determine the right path forward for their unique circumstances. The guide details the application and approval process in full, beginning with the initial assessment used by the OPWDD to determine the level of need. This first step requires extensive medical documentation of the disabled individual's condition and care requirements, which HCAG encourages applicants to prepare ahead of time. Once the assessment is completed, the formal application process can begin, which involves providing additional documentation and, often, statements regarding the applicant's financial status. Later on in the process, applicants may be required to submit to an interview with an OPWDD assessor, or to other forms of evaluation. After these criteria have been met and the application has been approved, the Office will work to create an ISP, or Individualized Service Plan. These plans are intended to offer a framework through which other forms of aid can be provided, and need to be continuously updated in collaboration with a care coordinator to ensure all needs are being met. In the full guide, HCAG offers tips regarding how families should proceed after their ISP has been created, including what services may be available to them and how they can maintain their eligibility status. They focus on relief programs for caregivers, waiver programs for assistive technology, employment initiatives, and more. Those interested in additional assistance in locating and applying for OPWDD programs should contact the Home Care Advisory Group at 212-540-2984. Their team offers personalized services for caregivers, service workers, legal professionals, and more in the interest of supporting the disabled community and those who care for them.
