Six injured in two Tasman crashes, police appeal for information
(File photo) Photo: RNZ / REECE BAKER Six people have been hurt in two crashes in Tasman, including three who were critically injured, with police appealing for information and witnesses to one of the incidents. About 8:30pm on Thursday emergency services were called to a two-vehicle collision on Lightband Road (SH6), near the Clover Road intersection south of Hope. Two people involved were in hospital in a critical condition, police said, while two others had moderate to serious injuries. Police said the cause of the crash was being investigated and the Serious Crash Unit had been at the scene. The road reopened shortly after 6am on Friday. Meanwhile, police were appealing for witnesses in a separate two-vehicle crash that happened the same day in Tasman, leaving two people injured, one critically. Emergency services were called to The Coastal Highway (SH60) near Mapua Drive, about 2pm on Thursday. Police said they want to see any security or dashboard camera footage from the area at the time, and want to speak to anyone who saw the crash. Person dies after ending up under car in Blenheim

Emergency services are investigating how the crash at about 10.45am on Wednesday came about. It happened in Lewis Street in Redwoodtown, a residential area. Police said no other cars were involved. Police initially reported that the victim was in a critical condition, but later confirmed they had died. Lewis Street is closed for a scene examination. The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance. Person dies after colliding with power pole in Northcote
Police said the car crashed on the corner of Onewa Road and Seaview Ave. Photo: RNZ / REECE BAKER One person has died after their car crashed into a power pole in the Auckland suburb Northcote on Tuesday. Police said the car crashed on the corner of Onewa Road and Seaview Ave, just after 4:30pm. The person could not be revived and died at the scene. The Serious Crash Unit carried out an examination.

Pedestrian dies after being hit by truck near Kaikōura
The road was expected to be closed for some time. Photo: siwakorn / 123RF A pedestrian has died after being hit by a truck on State Highway 1, south of Kaikōura, this morning. Emergency services were called to the scene at Peketā, between Inland Kaikōura Road and Rakanui Road, shortly before 9.30am Friday. Police said the person died at the scene and they are providing support to their family. State Highway 1 south of Kaikōura was closed, however, it reopened five hours later. SH1 reopens, hours after pedestrian hit by truck near Kaikōura

Photo: siwakorn / 123RF State Highway 1 south of Kaikōura has reopened, five hours after it was closed due to a crash involving a truck and a pedestrian. Emergency services were called to the scene at Peketā, between Inland Kaikōura Road and Rakanui Road, shortly before 9.30am. The Serious Crash Unit was notified and the road was expected to be closed for some time in both directions. Police earlier said motorists should instead use the inland route, via Mt Lyford.
