Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia, said Sunday that President Donald Trump "has pushed the US into another war" and that countries are "ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads." Medvedev made the remarks on Telegram, outlining his views on what the Trump administration's strikes on Iran would lead to moving forward. His comment came after the United States carried out attacks targeting three nuclear sites across the Persian Gulf nation—at Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. "The enrichment of nuclear material—and, now we can say it outright, the future production of nuclear weapons—will continue," Medvedev, a top ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, wrote in his Telegram post. "A number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads." This is a developing story and will be updated with additional information.

Putin ally: Russia ready to facilitate Trump-Musk peace deal
Russia's former President Demitry Mendvedev said the country was willing to facilitate a peace deal between President Trump and Elon Musk amid their ongoing fight. The two have been publicly feuding over Musk's criticism of Trump's 'big, beautiful bill' which the president and his allies have urged lawmakers to support. 'We are ready to facilitate the conclusion of a peace deal between D and E for a reasonable fee and to accept Starlink shares as payment. Don't fight, guys,' Mendvedev, who currently serves as the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia, wrote in a mocking post on the social media platform X with a face screaming in fear emoji on Friday. Musk responded with a laughing face emoji on the post. Other Russian officials said the country was also willing to offer Musk asylum amid tension with the president, according to reports. 'I think Musk is playing a completely different game, that he won't need political asylum, although if he did, Russia could certainly provide it,' Dmitry Novikov, deputy chair of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told state media. The fallout between Trump and Musk comes days after the president gifted the tech billionaire with a golden key while sharing appreciation for the tech giant's leadership at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). 'I don't mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago. This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress. It's a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given. If this Bill doesn't pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that,' Trump wrote on Thursday. 'I didn't create this mess, I'm just here to FIX IT. This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!' The president suggested that Musk was upset by the legislation's caveat ending the electric vehicle incentives. The Tesla CEO's company stock dropped during his White House tenure and fell again on Thursday as he feuded with Trump. However, Musk still said he holds the power of the purse for elections. 'Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate,' Musk said in a post on his social platform X. 'Such ingratitude,' he added. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Trump calls out Putin, accuses China of not honoring trade deal terms during 19th week in office
President Donald Trump put Russian President Vladimir Putin on notice, and issued some harsh words to China and their ongoing trade negotiations during his 19th week in office. "What Vladimir Putin doesn't realize is that if it weren't for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD. He's playing with fire!" Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Tuesday morning. Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia and former Russian president, responded in kind and issued his own words of caution to the U.S. "Regarding Trump's words about Putin 'playing with fire' and 'really bad things' happening to Russia. I only know of one REALLY BAD thing — WWIII. I hope Trump understands this!" Medvedev wrote. White House Reveals Possible Penalties On Putin Amid Peace Push: 'Whatever It Takes' Trump's remarks come as Russia has ramped up its attacks against Ukraine in recent weeks, and as the U.S. has sought to distance itself from the conflict between the two countries. Meanwhile, Trump said on Wednesday that time is limited for Putin to get serious about coming to the negotiating table and engage in peace talks. Otherwise, the U.S. might adopt a different approach, he said. Read On The Fox News App "We're going to find out whether or not he's tapping us along or not, and if he is, we'll respond a little bit differently, but it will take about a week and a half to two weeks," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday. Here's what also happened this week: Trump accused China of violating an initial trade agreement that Washington and Beijing were hashing out in May. Following those negotiations, both countries agreed that the U.S. would cut down its tariffs against Chinese imports from 145% to 30%, and China would reduce its tariffs against U.S. imports from 125% to 10%. But Trump said that China hasn't followed the terms of the agreement, without disclosing specifics. "The bad news is that China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US," Trump said in a social media post Friday. "So much for being Mr. NICE GUY!" 'No Reason' For New Nukes: Trump Floats Disarmament Talks With China, Russia U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said after Trump's post in an interview with CNBC that China had failed to remove its non-tariff barriers, as outlined in the deal. "The United States did exactly what it was supposed to do, and the Chinese are slow-rolling their compliance which is completely unacceptable and has to be addressed," Greer said on Friday. Meanwhile, China pressed the U.S. to reverse course and urged the U.S. to address its own mistakes. "China once again urges the US to immediately correct its erroneous actions, cease discriminatory restrictions against China and jointly uphold the consensus reached at the high-level talks in Geneva," Chinese embassy spokesperson Liu Pengyu said in a Friday statement. Canada also could receive protection from Trump's so-called Golden Dome — if it becomes part of the U.S. Trump has long pushed for Canada to become the 51st state, along with expressing interest in acquiring Greenland and the Panama Canal. Trump Claims Canada 'Considering' Offer Of Free Golden Dome In Exchange To Become 51St State "I told Canada, which very much wants to be part of our fabulous Golden Dome System, that it will cost $61 Billion Dollars if they remain a separate, but unequal, Nation, but will cost ZERO DOLLARS if they become our cherished 51st State," Trump said in a Tuesday social media post.
