Pep Guardiola reveals private Jurgen Klopp talks after Liverpool promise broken
Manchester City have added Pep Lijnders, the former No 2 to Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, to Pep Guardiola's coaching staff as permission was sought before doing so Pep Guardiola revealed he asked Jurgen Klopp his permission before appointing Pep Lijnders to his coaching staff. Lijnders was one of former Liverpool boss Klopp's most trusted allies during their time at Anfield when they were also Manchester City 's biggest rivals. They locked horns on and off the pitch and therefore it was a major shock when City boss Guardiola appointed Lijnders this summer. Dutchman Lijnders will be Juanma Lillo's replacement at Manchester City and he will be keen to stamp his authority on how they play this season. But despite Klopp long since leaving Liverpool and Lijnders took another job as Red Bull Salzburg boss in the meantime and was sacked in December, Guardiola still felt the need to get Klopp's permission. Guardiola, talking ahead of City's Club World Cup opening fixture with Wydad in Philadelphia, "We had a conversation withn Jurgen but not about Pep. It was a long conversation. I suggested I was thinking about Pep and he gave me his high opinion. After I took time to reflect. 'I was in touch with Pep. I asked permission from Jurgen of course, I didn't want to interfere. I asked if it would be a problem and he said absolutely not. After one or two days we decided yes. 'I'm a fortunate guy with my assistants in my career: everybody helped me incredibly. They made me a better manager. I'm pretty sure Kolo Toure and especially Pep will. His knowledge, I drink from his knowledge. We talk a lot about football/training, he's been inspiring for me. I am so lucky to work and learn from so many great coaches during my time here.' Lijnders had enjoyed two spells on Merseyside having initially joined under Brendan Rodgers before he became a trusted ally of Klopp. Following his exit, the 42-year-old very quickly found a new job having been appointed as Red Bull Salzburg manager. Lijnders new job sees him go against the promise that he made to his ex-Liverpool boss Klopp. Upon leaving Anfield, he claimed that he would never be an assistant to anyone else and was solely focusing on his own managerial career. He said: '10 years of the club and my boys don't know anything else, they are Scousers. I owe this club everything. They don't owe me anything, to be honest. 'It's 10 years full of dedication. I always said I will finish with Jurgen (Klopp); the moment I will not assist anyone else, that's the moment I will go and I will manage. That was always the case. So when we spoke, it was clear for me: OK, then I go and manage, and we end this project together [that] we started." However, he has broken his promise by returning to the Premier League to help out Guardiola.

Danny Dyer's bombshell confession about regional accent leaves fans in stitches
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Danny Dyer has charmed a fresh wave of admirers with his audacious praise for the Scouse accent, often showcasing his bond with daughter Dani Dyer during joint interviews. The father-daughter duo recently engaged in 'Private Matters', a game where they alternated posing challenging questions to one another, with the option to answer publicly or confide the response within their family WhatsApp group. Renowned for his forthright Cockney manner, Danny has been a familiar face on television since the 1990s, appearing in films, TV series, and on stage. His daughter Dani, who was born on August 8, 1996, has recently married West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen. During the Ladbible-hosted game, the Dyers were quizzed on which accent they'd adopt if not their iconic Cockney twang, to which Danny instantly declared "Scouse", a sentiment echoed by Dani. Their synchrony was so spot-on that Dani humorously suggested they should have done a countdown before simultaneously revealing their choice, reports the Liverpool Echo. Danny went on to describe the Scouse accent as "very unique" and "sexy", even attempting to mimic it by saying "murder" and working on the distinctive "ck" sound. After his attempt at a Liverpool lilt, Danny light-heartedly added, "Let's not upset too many Scousers." The Instagram post by Ladbible quickly amassed a slew of comments from amused followers. Ali expressed her adoration, writing: "Just when I thought I couldn't love that man anymore than I do. I'll teach you Scouse any day." Jillian chimed in with a local touch, saying "Well Lad I'm from Liverpool. I agree." Alisha shared her affection too, commenting: "Yes, we love you too", while Martin brought a bit of humour, responding "Wow what great news ! Now I can sleep well at night" and Keith proudly proclaimed "You're all welcome to the Greatest City on Earth." In personal news, the former Love Island champion tied the knot with West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen in a cosy ceremony this past May. Dani's father, who is also an EastEnders actor, had the honour of walking her down the aisle and later shared a tender slow dance with her at the wedding reception. Dani took to social media to reflect on her nuptials, captioning a post: "The best day of my entire life and a day that I will want to relive forever." The soap star had previously spoken to the Mirror about warmly receiving Jarrod into their family.

Couple's last day of holiday ruined by cruel 'Scouse stereotype' insults
Catherine Kemp, 57, and her partner Stephen Rice, 56, were enjoying a weekend away in the Lake District when they popped into a pub called the Crafty Baa in Windermere for a drink A Brit couple were left appalled when their tranquil Lake District getaway was marred by a man allegedly hurling abuse and tired stereotypes at them during a pub visit. Catherine Kemp, 57, and her partner Stephen Rice, 56, from West Derby, had been soaking up the atmosphere in the Crafty Baa in Windermere, enjoying the final evening of their holiday, when Stephen, a former singer, decided to join in on an open mic night. However, their enjoyment was cut short as a Manchester United supporter allegedly began loudly berating Stephen with derogatory comments about Scousers, interrupting his performance. Catherine managed to capture the unpleasant incident on her phone while recording Stephen's song. She told the Liverpool Echo: "I didn't even know he was getting up and all of a sudden he was singing and then I heard this man shouting. "I was videoing Stephen but then I heard [the man] say 'I hate Scousers.' "He talked about Scousers robbing purses - just the stereotypes of what gives us all a bad name." Catherine expressed her dismay, saying, "It was just not nice when you're enjoying yourself and you're having that in the background. "When I confronted him he said it's not about Liverpool, it's about football - so he changed it from us being robbers to it was about the football." Despite attempting to perform another song after the confrontation, Stephen was too disheartened by the heckling and stopped midway through. The incident put a damper on the couple's holiday, and they revealed it "took the shine off" their final night in the lakes, leaving soon after. It comes after another British holidaymaker has told how she became "sick to death of looking at rice" after the hotel she stayed at during her picturesque island getaway came with "no English food". Susan Edwards, from Westerhope, in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, has refused to book with TUI again after paying for an all-inclusive trip to Corfu where she wasn't offered English food. The mum, 69, had jetted off to the Greek island paradise with her two cousins, aged 77 and 78, 50-year-old second cousin and daughter, 30, on a TUI package holiday. But she said the vacation was "horrendous" from the minute they arrived, and that the Brits were left with "no food" they could eat. Speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle, Susan said the group discovered on the first morning of their stay at the Lido Corfu Sun Hotel that there was "no English food" available. The mum, who suffers from ulcerative colitis, lamented the lack of bacon and sausage, saying she and the group were unhappy when they were presented with traditional Greek fare. She said: "On a morning you could have toast, a hard boiled egg, or something in sauce. "There was no bacon. For breakfast there was mozzarella and sliced tomatoes. There was no hot bacon or sausage. We got chips one day. One day out of the whole lot. "There was fish, sardines and rice - I was sick to death of looking at rice. There was pasta and salads, none of this was marked (labelled). One night there was a Greek night and they had kebabs, I couldn't eat that. It's the worst holiday I've ever been on."

'Tragedy brings unity, especially in Liverpool'
What a horrible and tragic end to a brilliant weekend. The euphoria we felt when walking back from the parade immediately turned into dread, panic and fear.I was approaching Water Street with three friends as the incident happened. We had had the funniest, most celebratory day. We were giddy and heading back to an apartment to get ready for a night all we could see was people running away. We were confused. When we heard the screaming, we knew something bad was happening. As we edged further up the road, we saw the carnage. Police, sirens, bodies lying on the floor and the most visceral screaming I've ever heard. I'll never forget tried to help a few people on the side of the road. One lad had been knocked over and his dad was crying and trembling beside flew around the city that night. The atmosphere was sullied and people seemed frightened. Everyone had seen the videos of the incident on social media. Everyone was speculating. The parade seemed a very distant it still managed to bring the best out of people. Scousers offered their houses up to those affected and we saw people in nearby shops or pubs come out to help those who witnessed it. Tragedy brings unity, especially in miraculously, there are no casualties right now. This doesn't fit with what we saw on Monday, or the images circling, but it is incredible. And may those in hospital make a full and quick more from Jordan Chamberlain at Empire of the Kop, external

Irish Liverpool fan's horror: 'Liverpool parade car nearly hit my family'
A shaken Irish Liverpool fan praised hero Scousers for pushing his family to safety as a car careered through crowds during the club's title parade. Paul O'Brien travelled from his home in Ireland with his 11-year-old son Danny and his parents to celebrate the Reds' Premier League victory. They spent the day in Liverpool soaking up the party atmosphere before cheering their heroes as they paraded through the streets. But their afternoon turned to horror when a vehicle hurtled through crowds of supporters on Water Street. Paul, 39, from Slane, County Meath, was returning to the family's hotel on nearby Dale Street when the carnage unfolded yesterday. He told how fellow Liverpool fans pushed him, his son and his parents Marie, 66, and Peter, 63, to safety. 'We were walking up the hill and the next thing we knew we could hear the car and then we were getting shoved out of the way of it,' he told the Mirror. 'Then it carried on through the crowd and you could hear 'thud, thud, thud' as it ran people over. A paramedic on a bike was hit too. There were screams, it was horrible.' Paul added: 'If it wasn't for those amazing Liverpool fans I dread to think what would have happened. We may not have been here today. It had been such a fantastic day, full of joy and celebrations, so for it to end the way it did is so sad.' Almost 50 people, including four children, were left injured after the people carrier shockingly ploughed into revellers celebrating Liverpool's Premier League win shortly after 6pm on Water Street. A total of 20 people were treated for injuries at the scene, while a further 27 were taken to hospital. North West Ambulance Service confirmed two people have been seriously injured, including one child. A 53-year-old white British man was arrested in relation to the incident and remains in custody, Merseyside Police said. A spokesperson said: "We would ask people not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding tonight's incident on Water Street in Liverpool city centre. We can confirm the man arrested is a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area. Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision." The force added that the incident is not being treated as terrorism. Police were seen standing guard outside a number of tents at Water Street on Tuesday morning. One was covering the vehicle that injured dozens of revellers, while a huge cordon remained in place right down onto Dale Street. The area was left littered with debirs, abandoned belongings, and broken glass from the collision. Prime minister Sir Keir Starmer labelled the incident as "appalling", adding: "My thoughts are with all those injured or affected [...] Liverpool stands together and the whole country stands with Liverpool."
