Oman continues diplomatic efforts to contain escalation of Israel-Iran conflict
Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman continues its diligent diplomatic efforts to contain the unprecedented escalation resulting from Israel's military aggression against Iran, which has ignited the current regional tension. Oman has reaffirmed its steadfast position rejecting military escalation and violations of state sovereignty, emphasizing that the only way to address the crisis lies in a serious return to the diplomatic path, aiming to reach a just agreement and save the region from an abyss with unknown consequences that could impact the entire world. In this context, His Excellency Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, held phone calls on Wednesday with his Russian and Chinese counterparts as part of a series of calls with various brotherly and friendly countries. The discussions focused on the urgent need for an immediate cessation of hostilities, stressing that Israel is the aggressor, violatin UN Carter and obstructing peace efforts, including the recent American-Iranian negotiations aimed at preventing nuclear proliferation. The ministers agreed that a military solution is ineffective and that achieving an early ceasefire would pave the way for a return to the negotiating table to address the nuclear issue in a manner that ensures stability and peace for all. During the call, the Minister and His Excellency Sergey Lavrov agreed that this unprecedented escalation violates United Nations Charter, renewing their call for an immediate halt to these attacks and their expansion, as well as refraining from targeting nuclear facilities to prevent the risks of nuclear radiation. The Russian Minister also expressed his country's deep appreciation for Oman's mediation efforts, affirming the Russian Federation's support for these negotiations, diplomatic channels, political solutions, and their utmost importance in establishing international peace and security. On the other hand, His Excellency Wang Yi, Chinese Foreign Minister, emphasized that the nuclear issue cannot be resolved outside the scope of diplomatic efforts and that Israel's attacks on Iranian territory constitute a clear and blatant violation of UN Charter and the principles of international law. He also affirmed his agreement with Oman's position and highly valued the Sultanate's tireless efforts to promote peace and facilitate negotiation pathways.

Commemorative postage stamp inaugurated between Oman and Iran
Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, jointly inaugurated a commemorative postage stamp symbolising the profound cultural and historical ties between Oman and Iran, as well as their shared commitment to the principles of good neighbourliness, cooperation, constructive engagement, and civilizational exchange between their peoples. The ceremony took place at Al Alam Palace in Muscat, coinciding with the official visit of President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Sultanate of Oman. Sayyid Nasr bin Badr Al Busaidi, Postmaster at Oman Post, stated that this stamp embodies the deep-rooted cultural and historical connections between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran, reflecting their mutual dedication to strengthening cultural diplomacy, fostering neighbourly relations, and promoting people-to-people ties. The stamp's artistic design harmoniously blends the architectural and cultural symbols of both nations. At its centre stands the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat—an iconic landmark of Omani Islamic architecture—framed by date palms, which symbolize resilience and Oman's rich agricultural heritage, forming an integral part of the country's environmental and social identity. On the opposite side, the stamp features the historic Jameh Mosque of Bastak in southern Iran, encircled by cypress trees—a symbol of eternity and Persian visual culture—representing continuity and civilizational endurance. At the heart of the design lies a handwoven Persian carpet, inspired by the one housed in the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat, which was meticulously crafted in Iran's Khorasan province and adorned with intricate floral motifs. Muscat: The fifth round of talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America of high stakes nuclear talk is set to take place later today in Rome. Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, Oman Foreign Minister announced on his official account on X platform: 'The 5th round of Iran US talks will take place in Rome this Friday 23rd May.' Oman News Agency said: 'Aiming to seek peaceful solutions and foster a climate of dialogue to reach an understanding on the outstanding issues between Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America The fifth round of talks between the tow countries set to take place later today in Rome.'

Fourth round of US Iran talks to resume in Muscat
Muscat: USA and Iran fourth round of indirect nuclear talks will resume in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, Oman Foreign Minister said in a post on his official account in X platform: 'After coordination with both Iran and the US, the fourth round of negotiations is set to take place on Sunday 11 May in Muscat.' On May 2nd, 2025, the The Sultanate of Oman announced the postponement of the scheduled U.S.-Iran meeting, set for Saturday May3, 2025, due to logistical reasons.

Third round of Iran-US talks end in Muscat, next meet on May 3
Muscat: Iran and the United States have concluded a third round of high-level nuclear talks in Muscat on Saturday. Both the sides again decided to meet on May 3rd for the next round of discussion. After the meeting, Oman's Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, said, 'US-Iran talks on Saturday identified a shared aspiration to reach agreement based on mutual respect and enduring commitments. Core principles, objectives and technical concerns were all addressed. Talks will continue next week with a further high level meeting provisionally scheduled for May 3rd.' Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US envoy Steve Witkoff led the talks in the presence of Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi. Iran and the US have held two rounds of talks in Oman and Italy in the past two weeks to reach a deal on Iran's nuclear program and the removal of sanctions on Tehran.
