Jason Isaacs Says ‘White Lotus' Equal Pay Earned Each Actor $40,000 an Episode: ‘Do I Mind That I Wasn't Paid More Than' Younger Co-Stars? ‘I Never Work for Money'
Jason Isaacs confirmed in a new interview with Vulture that every cast member on 'The White Lotus' Season 3 made $40,000 an episode, bringing their total pay for the series to around $320,000 each. Isaacs noted that sum is actually 'a very low price' for such a hugely successful television series. 'I didn't know that was public knowledge. That's absolutely true,' Isaacs said. 'Generally actors don't talk about pay in public because it's ridiculously disproportionate to what we do — putting on makeup and funny voices — and just upsets the public. But compared to what people normally get paid for big television shows, that's a very low price. But the fact is, we would have paid to be in it. We probably would have given a body part.' More from Variety Sam Rockwell on Choosing His 'White Lotus' Leopard Underwear and Why 'Sinners' Made Him Believe Hollywood Will Survive 'The White Lotus' Creator Mike White and Team Break Down the Finale's Deadly Piña Colada Scenes - and Why Season 3 Made Him Feel Like a 'Head Case' Jason Isaacs Champions Tom Felton Playing Draco Malfoy Again, Gives His Blessing to New Lucius Malfoy Actor Johnny Flynn: 'I Can't Wait to See What He Comes Up With' 'The White Lotus' cast being paid equally meant that acting veterans such as Isaacs and Parker Posey made the same as relative newcomers to the industry like Sarah Catherine Hook and Sam Nivola. Isaacs politely scoffed when asked if he thought that was fair or not. 'Do I mind that I wasn't paid more than other people? I never work for money,' Isaacs said. 'I've done all right. People will think I have huge stockpiles of money but sadly, what I've done rather immaturely is expand my outgoings to match my incomings and pretty much spent everything I've earned over the years.' Isaacs also used 'The White Lotus' set to impart wisdom on his younger co-stars, mainly how they can't 'over-invest' in the final product because it's completely out of their control. That's for creator Mike White to worry about more than his actors. Isaacs learned that lesson the hard way after playing Captain Hook in 2003's notorious misfire 'Peter Pan.' 'It was a big expensive production with multiple studios. We filmed for 14 months. … The film tanked,' Isaacs said. 'I think it's a masterpiece, but people looked at the poster and went, 'Oh, fuck it. I've seen 'Hook' with Robin Williams, and I've seen the cartoon. Why do I need to see another one?' It was a catastrophe professionally for me, a huge fall from grace. I couldn't get a walk-on role. And I changed my agent and I almost changed my job, frankly, because I didn't think I'd work again. The lowest I've ever been was after 'Peter Pan.' I was really in despair but not as bad as I would have been had I believed any of the bullshit that had been whispered in my ear. I didn't over-invest in the results of it, which is something I tried to counsel the young actors on 'The White Lotus' not to do.' 'The White Lotus' Season 3 is streaming in its entirety on Max. The White Lotus star Sam Nivola's mom, actor Emily Mortimer reacts to his ‘bizarre' incest scene
The latest season of the HBO series The White Lotus received mixed reviews. Now, weeks after the show concluded, Sam Nivola's mother, actor Emily Mortimer, has shared her views on the much-talked-about intimate scene featuring her son. In an interview with The Times, she called the scene bizarre and spoke about her son's newfound fame. (Also Read: The White Lotus 3 ending explained: Who dies in the finale and will there be a season 4?) Emily discussed her son Sam's intimate scene in White Lotus Season 3 and said, 'It's so crazy, all of it. It wasn't particularly crazier than having my boy go off to Thailand for so long. Of course it was a bit bizarre, but being married to an actor, we've all had to watch each other do strange things. And I had been warned — although Sam said that the worst bit was the first ten minutes, but they kept flashing back. So I'd relaxed and then it wasn't true at all.' For the uninitiated, Sam played the role of Lochlan Ratliff, the youngest member of a wealthy yet troubled family. The scene in question featured Sam's character in a drug-fuelled intimate encounter with the girlfriend of a criminal kingpin and his character's own brother (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger's son, Patrick). The scene became one of the season's most talked-about moments. She also commented on her son's newfound fame, saying, 'He just sort of owns it, which isn't thanks to either of us. I'm biased because I'm his mum, but he doesn't need any guidance.' The HBO series featured an ensemble cast including Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Lalisa Manobal, Sam Nivola, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood, Sam Rockwell, Scott Glenn, and Natasha Rothwell, among others. The story follows the lives of the staff and wealthy guests at a wellness resort in Thailand. The season received mostly positive reviews from critics, although many criticised the slow pacing and found the final episode disappointing. The show is available to watch for Indian viewers on JioHotsar. Emily Mortimer began her acting career in stage productions and later transitioned to film and television. She gained critical acclaim for her role in the movie Lovely & Amazing, earning the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female. Some of her critically acclaimed work includes films such as Match Point, Lars and the Real Girl, Shutter Island, Mary Poppins Returns, and more. She has also appeared in several television shows and is popularly known for her role as MacKenzie McHale in HBO's The Newsroom. In 2021, she wrote and directed the miniseries The Pursuit of Love, which earned her a BAFTA nomination. Recently, Emily replaced Sally Hawkins, who had played Mrs Brown in the previous Paddington films, in the live-action animated adventure comedy Paddington in Peru.

The White Lotus Fans Reckon They've Already Worked Out Who Dies In The Season Finale
Warning: This article contains potential spoilers for the third season of The White Lotus. There are still six weeks to go until the season finale of The White Lotus airs – but some viewers reckon they've already cracked the show's biggest mystery. As always, the third season of The White Lotus began with a fast-forward to the very end of the show, when a body was found floating in the water at the luxury Thai resort. Since then, fans have been speculating about who the character that meets their watery end could be – with one theory in particular beginning to pick up traction. And we're sorry to report that it looks like bad news for Sam Nivola's character. Since season two aired, some fans have picked up on the fact that Sam's character, Lochlan Ratliff, has a strong connection to water. In the latest episode, he opted for a sensory deprivation tank while his family each had their individual treatments, and he also had heart-to-heart with sister Piper in hammocks over the ocean. He was also heard telling an anecdote about the 2004 tsunami in the episode, while the same episode opened with him splashing his face with water (after staring for a little too long at his brother's bare bum). Then, there's this years's White Lotus opening title sequence, which sees Sam's name flashing up alongside the image of a figure half-submerged in water, while even his name comes from the Gaelic for 'from the land of lakes'. As fans began to speculate what Sam's connection to the water could mean, some pointed out that it could be an indicator as to what's to come later in the series. What if Lochlan (played by Sam Nivola) is the body in the water? 🤔#whitelotusseason3# — diário da carol💕 (@carolzinhaxxxxz) February 25, 2025 'His connection to the water is something to watch for,' one Reddit user wrote, while another fan suggested it could be foreshadowing and an allusion to Ophelia, the William Shakespeare character who drowns after entering a state of madness when she's rejected by Hamlet. Another said simply: 'He's definitely the person who ends up in the water and it's hard for me to be convinced otherwise.' However, others have suggested these clues might actually be a red herring. 'Why would they make it so obvious?' one viewer responded on Reddit. 'If that was the case just by the title card you would know who gets killed, that's why I'm inclined to think he won't get killed and has to do with something else.' Another pointed out that 'water can also mean change or rebirth', adding: 'There's lot that has been set up here that can be played with.' 'The title card makes it way too blatant that he's the one in the pond,' a third claimed. 'Surely they wouldn't give it away so easily. Even last season, there was some subtleness to who died in the opening theme. Maybe it's revealing him as the killer and not the victim. 'Plus I think the title card can be interpreted in another way. He's not drowning face down but face up floating on the water. The colours used in his title card are soft and gentle. Also in his title card, there is no danger lurking. If you look at other title cards, the colors used are dark and harsh and there is danger lurking around.'
