Ariana Grande Mourns Passing Of Grandmother Marjorie 'Nonna' Grande At Age 99
Way back when, Ariana Grande used to act on Nickelodeon's 'Victorious' and 'Sam & Cat'. You would've probably heard the word 'Nonna (grandmother)' mentioned a lot on those show, making her mark as Ariana's favourite person. This reflects her real relationship with her grandmother, as their bond has been as close-knit since the beginning. Sadly, earlier today (Wednesday, 18th June 2025), Ariana Grande announced the passing of her grandmother, Marjorie 'Nonna' Grande, at age 99. The Grande matriarch was featured countless times on the Wicked star's socials, with fans adoringly adopting her as their own 'Nonna'. The news was announced by Ariana's mother on an Instagram post signed by members of the Grande family. The post reads, 'Marjorie (Nonna) Grande passed peacefully in her home and was surrounded by her family and loved ones for every moment of her last few weeks'. The family also thanks fans for their support and for the privacy for the family to mourn her passing. Both Ariana and her brother Frankie Grande posted their own dedicated post, with Ariana posting her grandparent's wedding photo with the caption 'Forever'. Frankie dedicates a long heartfelt post to Majorie, writing, 'Thank you for every moment, every lesson, every hug, every belly laugh. Until we meet again, and we will, please kiss Grandpa and Aunt Judy for me, and tell them how much I love and miss them too'. Netizens were devastated over the news, with comments flooding in with well wishes and condolences to the family in mourning. 'Victorious' stars Liz Gillies and Daniella Monet, and singer Jessie J have also left their own supporting comments for the 31-year-old star. Fans have suggested streaming 'Ordinary Things' which features Nonna in the track, in tribute to her passing. Majorie is also celebrated as the oldest living person to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since the chart's inception in August 1958. With the family in mourning, we send our deepest condolences and well wishes to the Grande family. Sources: Instagram (1)(2) Alyssa Gabrielle contributed to this article. Ariana Grande Asks Entertainment Labels to Add Therapy Sessions to Contracts
After being raised in the limelight, Ariana Grande asked music, TV, and film labels to offer mental health resources for young performers, along with requesting they offer weekly therapy sessions. Grande, who starred in Nickelodeon's Victorious and spinoff series Sam & Cat, opened up about navigating fame as a teen and introducing contractual health resources to Marc Maron in a podcast episode released Monday. 'It's so important that these record labels, these studios, these TV studios, these big production companies make it a part of the contract when you sign on to do something that's going to change your life in that way, on that scale,' Grande said. 'You need a therapist to be seeing several times a week.' 'I was 19 when all of that nonsense started happening to me, and it's just a crazy piece of the puzzle,' Grande told Maron. 'It's something you work so hard to try and understand, and it will never make sense to me. Grande's comments follow Chappell Roan's call-to-action for record labels earlier this month. Roan raised her healthcare concerns in the music industry as she accepted the Best New Artist Grammy, asking labels to offer a livable wage and healthcare, particularly to developing artists. The pop princess was dropped by Atlantic Records in summer 2020 and later signed with her producer Daniel Nigro's Amusement Records, following the release of her debut album. 'If my label would have prioritized artists' health, I could have been provided care by a company I was giving everything to,' Roan said. 'So record labels need to treat their artists as valuable employees with a livable wage and health insurance and protection. Labels, we got you, but do you got us?' Since her Grammys appearance, Roan has donated $25,000 to Backline, a nonprofit that provides mental health and wellness resources to musicians. Charli XCX and Noah Kahan have pledged to match Roan's donation. Grande added that labels know how a young star's life will change and have the obligation to protect them. 'When these people are cast in these life-changing roles, or when they get that record deal, when they get that moment, that should be non-negotiable in the contract,' Grande told Maron. 'Because to be an artist, you are a vulnerable person with your heart on your sleeve.' Ariana Grande Just Detailed The Wholesome Loophole Her Mom Found To Get Around A Rule That Parents Couldn't Stay For Rehearsals When Ari Was In Stage Shows As A Kid
Ariana Grande has revealed just how dedicated her mom, Joan Grande, was to keeping a close eye on her when she pursued acting as a child. While she is now best known for being both an iconic popstar and an Oscar-nominated actor for her performance as Glinda in Wicked, Ariana actually started out on the stage. She got her big break in 13: The Musical back in 2008, when she was 14 years old. Ariana then enjoyed TV success on the Nickelodeon shows Victorious and Sam & Cat between 2010 and 2014. And before all of that, Ariana was an active member of her local community theater, and during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, she explained that this meant her mom was an active participant, too. In fact, Ariana said that Joan refused to leave her alone for rehearsals when she was as young as eight, and to get around the rules about this, Joan would get herself cast in the same productions so that she could stay. 'There wasn't anything she missed,' Ari began. 'Even when I was younger, she would audition for the shows when I was in family theater, community theatre, so that she could stay at the rehearsals.' 'Usually they were like: 'No parents, we'll see you after pick up,'' she clarified. 'And [Joan] was like: 'I'll play the apple seller in Annie; apples! Apples! Who wants apples?'' When Jimmy asked if she got the part, Ariana confirmed: 'She got it and she nailed it, yeah.' 'It was so that she could be there to support me and be there during rehearsals,' she added. 'It was very sweet.' While the host wondered if this was a good thing, Ari insisted that it was 'great' because of her young age — and the people of the internet agree, with many praising Joan for keeping her young daughter close. Bruce Glikas / FilmMagic Quote-tweeting the clip from the interview, one person wrote: 'That's a good stage parent.' 'Her mom really took all precautions necessary to protect her,' somebody else wrote. One more added: 'This is such a special and wise thing for her mother to do.' 'I love Joan so much like she really protected her baby,' another user tweeted. Ariana is incredibly close to her family, and she regularly attends red carpet events with Joan, her brother Frankie Grande, and even her beloved ' Nonna,' who has taken a step back from the spotlight in recent months — no doubt due to her recently turning 99 years old. Frazer Harrison via Getty Ari also regularly posts about her loved ones on her Instagram page, including when she flew back to her hometown in Florida for just one day for a cozy family screening of Wicked. Speaking about her close relationship with her family on Kimmel, Ariana said: 'I have a very, very supportive family; I'm so grateful.' What do you make of Joan's approach to keeping an eye on little Ariana during rehearsals? Let me know in the comments! joan auditioning and getting roles at ariana's community theather shows when she was a kid to be with her during rehearsals because parents weren't allowed to stay 😭😭😭😭😭 — ໊ (@dieforyous) February 6, 2025 ABC / Via

‘Victorious' Spinoff ‘Hollywood Arts' in Development at Nickelodeon
A new 'Victorious' spinoff is in the works at Nickelodeon, TheWrap has learned. The network is in the midst of developing a series centered on Trina Vega (Daniella Monet), the older sister of 'Victorious' lead Tori (Victoria Justice). Its working title, 'Hollywood Arts,' is a reference to the fictitious performing arts high school featured in 'Victorious.' If it receives an official greenlight from Nickelodeon, the comedy will follow Monet's Trina as she returns to Hollywood Arts High School as a teacher. In addition to leading the series, Monet is also attached as an executive producer alongside writers Samantha Martin and Jake Farrow, the latter of whom previously worked as a writer and producer on both 'Victorious' and its first spinoff 'Sam & Cat.' Monet and fellow 'Victorious' co-star Avan Jogia posted about 'Hollywood Arts' on their respective Instagram Stories on Thursday. Jogia wrote that he 'could not be happier' for Monet, to which she responded, 'Love you.' Created by 'Quiet on Set' subject Dan Schneider, 'Victorious' follows the teenage students of an elite performing arts school as they regularly get into wacky hijinks while pursuing their own artistic dreams. The series ran on Nickelodeon for four seasons from 2010 to 2013. The core 'Victorious' cast not only included Justice, Monet, Jogia, Leon Thomas III, Matt Bennett and Liz Gillies, but also, notably, a then-up-and-coming Ariana Grande. The 'Wicked' star subsequently reprised her role as Cat Valentine in the joint 'Victorious' and 'iCarly' spinoff 'Sam & Cat,' which only lasted one year on Nickelodeon but ran for 35 episodes in that time. Schneider, who created 'Victorious,' 'Sam & Cat' and a number of other Nickelodeon shows, is not involved in 'Hollywood Arts.' The producer and TV creator exited Nickelodeon in 2018. In 2024, Investigation Discovery released 'Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,' a five-part documentary series about the toxic environment that was created and disturbing behavior that was permitted on Schneider's children's TV projects during his tenure at Nickelodeon. In response, Schneider initially posted a YouTube video apologizing for some of his past actions, but later sued the 'Quiet on Set' producers for defamation. Outside of Monet, it's unclear who else might star in 'Hollywood Arts' should it move forward at Nickelodeon. Cameos from co-stars like Justice, Jogia and others don't seem out of the question, but 'Victorious' fans will have to wait for the time being to learn more about the spinoff and its official cast. "Victorious" Is Officially Getting A Spinoff TV Show Starring Daniella Monet As Trina, And The Plot Just Made Me Spit Out My Water
Calling all Gen Z'ers! I've got some INCREDIBLE news for you. You better hold onto your hats. One of the greatest kids' shows in history, Victorious, is officially getting a spinoff series. It's going to be produced by Nickelodeon, and it's in "fast-track development," according to Deadline. The project is tentatively called Hollywood Arts, which, if you know anything at ALL, is the name of the arts high school the Victorious characters attend. So I have a sneeeeeaking suspicion we're gonna see those gloriously unique lockers again. And before I spill what it'll be about, let me get this out of the way: Dan Schneider is not part of the project (phew). The lead writers and executive producers include Jake Farrow, who wrote and produced Victorious and Sam & Cat — AND he voiced the icon, Rex Powers. So now, the most important part. What the heck will it be about?!?! Two words: TRINA. VEGA. The show is centred around the queen herself. All hail!! Of course, that means one thing: Daniella Monet will reprise her role as Trina and star in the show (!!!!). Lucky for us, we also got a plot description for the series, which gives us more than a little hint as to what Trina is up to nowadays. " Hollywood Arts follows Trina returning to her old stomping grounds as the newest teacher at Hollywood's most elite performing arts school," Deadline reports. Yep, we're gonna see Trina as a teacher at Hollywood Arts. I did NOT think I'd ever write that sentence. Unfortunately, no other cast members have been confirmed *yet* — but if I had to guess, we MIGHT see a cameo from Victoria Justice if we're lucky. They're on-screen sisters and friends IRL, after all! Let's all cross our fingers for cameos from Liz Gillies (Jade), Matt Bennett (Robbie), Leon Thomas III (Andre), Avan Jogia (Beck), and even Oscar-nominated LEGEND Ariana Grande. But I think Matt is the most likely out of that bunch, since he's arguably the most connected to his Victorious roots. Anyway, I'll let you know if we get any new jaw-dropping details — like, maybe we'll get confirmation of a "Chicago" reprise, which would make me sob with joy. But until then, can we please freak out about this together? TRINA VEGA IS COMING TO SAVE 2025!!! I'm inviting you to fangirl with me in the comments below.
