Nelissa Nizam denies being Ahmad Idham's favourite actress

23 Jun - Nelissa Nizam recently dismissed the notion that she is Ahmad Idham's favourite actress, after appearing in four of the filmmaker's films since his directorial comeback. The actress, who will be seen next in Idham's "Impak Maksima 2", stated that it would be wrong to call her the director's "golden child", but that there is nothing she can do if that's what people think. "I have worked with other filmmakers too. But maybe it's because he is comfortable with me. We have known each other for quite a while, so maybe that's what made it easy for us to cooperate. I know how he works and he knows what I can give," she said. Nelissa also hopes that their closeness would not be misinterpreted by the public. "He treats all the actors the same. When he is comfortable with a particular actor, he would call them back," she added. Aside from "Impak Maksima 2" which will be releasing on 17 July, Nelissa has also collaborated with Idham in "Saka Perawan", "Reza GTR" and also "Sahak Gangster". (Photo Source: Nelissa IG)

Ahmad Idham betting it all on "Impak Maksima 2"

16 Jun - Ahmad Idham is betting all his chips on his upcoming new movie, "Impak Maksima 2", after his recent film, "Sahak Gangster" didn't do well in cinemas. The director, who made his filmmaking comeback last year following his departure from FINAS, stated that he is ready to retire as a director if the film doesn't do well in theatres. "Impak Maksima 2 is the most critical work of my life. The film will determine my direction in the industry from now on," said Idham. "If it fails, I'm not sure there will be any more investors willing to give me a chance and it also means that I may no longer be relevant. And if that's true, I have to think about another career after this, so this film will be the deciding factor." Idham said that he does worry about the fate of the movie, but understands that it is part and parcel of being in the film industry. "That's why I always tell young artistes, from the first day they enter the industry, they need to have a long-term plan," he added. Taking the example of Yusof Haslam, who directed hit films like "Sembilu" and "Maria Mariana" before moving to producing, the filmmaker said that Yusof is lucky to have two sons who inherited his filmmaking talent. "I have to be realistic too. As great as we are, there is an end point to it," he added. Idham came back to the industry last year by helming "Anak Perjanjian Syaitan 2", "Saka Perawan" and "Reeza GTR". Aside from "Impak Maksima", he also directed "Sahak Gangster" this year.
