Amazon is giving away six free games to celebrate Prime Day
Amazon has officially revealed the dates for Prime Day 2025. Running from 8 July to 11 July, this year's Prime Day sale stretches the definition of 'day' past its breaking point. To celebrate the rapidly expanding sale, right now Amazon is giving Prime members six free PC games to keep forever. From now until Prime Day kicks off on 8 July, Prime Gaming members can add six fan-favourite PC games to their Amazon account. Those are Saints Row IV, Star Wars: Rebellion, Saints Row 2, Toem, Dungeon of the Endless Definitive Edition and Tomb Raider I-III Remastered. The six new PC games have been added to Prime Gaming's existing library of freebies, which includes a batch of titles added at the start of June. Like a CeX bargain bin, Amazon's picks are a curious selection of both old and new games. But they include some real gems, lesser-known indie hits and games you might have missed the first time around. June's games include 2004 stealth classic Thief: Deadly Shadows – here's the full list: Mordheim: City of the Damned The Abandoned Planet Station to Station Death Squared Dark Envoy Fate: Undiscovered Realms Thief: Deadly Shadows Jupiter Hell Gallery of Things: Reveries Prime Gaming is included with your Amazon Prime subscription. One of the lesser appreciated benefits of membership, Prime Gaming features a rotating selection of free downloadable games to keep forever, even after you've cancelled your subscription. New games are swapped in every month, so it's worth grabbing what you can while it's available. You also get a free subscription to a Twitch channel of your choice every month – your favourite streamer still gets revenue from this, too – plus access to Amazon Luna, the retail giant's Netflix -style game streaming service. An Amazon Prime subscription costs £8.99 per month or £95 when you sign up for a year. As well as unlocking a bunch of free games with Prime Gaming, you get benefits like unlimited one-day and same-day delivery on eligible orders, access to Prime Video, and exclusive deals and discounts. 30-day free trial today.

Amazon is giving away 6 free games to celebrate Prime Day 2025 — here's how to claim them
Amazon has confirmed the date for Prime Day 2025 (July 8-11), but the retailer is kicking off the annual celebration now, and I don't just mean with early deals. To mark the occasion, Amazon, via Prime Gaming, has announced it will be giving away six free video games. The free games include entries in the Saints Row and Tomb Raider series, and a classic Star Wars strategy game first released in 1998. These six PC games will be available starting today (June 17) through July 7, and claiming them is super simple. Just head over to Prime Gaming and follow the on-screen instructions to add them to your library. You will need an Amazon Prime membership to get these freebies. The full list of free games available to Prime users ahead of Prime Day 2025 is as follows: Amazon Prime: for $139/yearAmazon Prime gives shoppers access to a whole host of benefits, Prime Gaming among them. Also included is free shipping on over 100 million products, plus access to additional services like Prime Video and Prime Music. You can pay an annual $139 fee or choose a monthly plan at $14.99. My picks of the bunch are Saints Row IV: Re-Elected and Tomb Raider I-III Remastered. The former is a truly chaotic superhero romp, as you play a future President of the United States, trapped inside an alien simulation and given access to a suite of ridiculous superpowers from Flash-like speed to flying. Meanwhile, the Tomb Raider Remastered trilogy brings the first three games in the classic series to modern platforms, offering improved visuals while still retaining their own school charm. And yes, you can still lock the butler in the fridge in Croft Manor. These titles are showing their age a bit, but remain legendary action-adventure games for a very good reason. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Even better, these six games are being added to the Prime Gaming catalogue in addition to its regular rotation of free software. That means right now, you can also claim another 25 freebies, including Saints Row: Gat out of Hell (if you're craving even more Saints Row), the delightful puzzle game Death Squared, and the cinematic Mafia 3 Definitive Edition. Never heard of Prime Gaming? It's one of the most overlooked Prime membership benefits, and gives you access to a rotating selection of free games. It's an offering that all Amazon Prime subscribers should be checking out regularly, as who can say no to free games? Remember, you've got until July 7 to claim any (or all) of these six extra games, and once redeemed, they're yours to keep, so even if you're booked up with new releases like Mario Kart World and Death Stranding 2 this month, be sure to claim them now while you can. You can always circle back to play later. Meanwhile, if you're looking to score some deals ahead of the annual retail event kicking off properly next month, we've got you covered with all the early Prime Day deals you can score right now. These include some big discounts on everything from 4K TVs to Adidas apparel.

Lucia's earbuds hint at on-foot music playback in GTA 6
Rockstar Games has created new buzz among Grand Theft Auto enthusiasts with recent peeks at protagonist Lucia wearing earbuds in GTA 6 screenshots. The small but meaningful detail has fueled speculation that players may at last be able to hear music on foot, a feature absent from the series for so long. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now If so, it would be an interesting development in the way players enjoy Vice City's immersive environment. Earbuds in GTA 6 hint at on-foot music playback feature One of the most prominent features of the new GTA 6 promotional material is the presence of Lucia sporting wireless earbuds as she is involved in mundane activities like working out or lounging around by the pool. The visual indication has caused many speculators and fans to assume that Rockstar is releasing a music player that functions outside of vehicles for the first time in the series' existence. This contrasts with earlier Grand Theft Auto games, in which music playback was strictly confined to car radios. This feature would enable players to personalize their soundtrack while walking, running, or exploring Vice City on foot. This possible feature would put GTA 6 in line with other contemporary open-world games such as Watch Dogs 2 and Saints Row, which long have allowed players to have bespoke music experiences at any moment and anywhere in the world of the game. The possibility of implementing a Spotify-esque interface in GTA 6, whereby players can create playlists or listen to various stations on their in-game mobile phones, has fans abuzz with excitement. The earbuds also propose Rockstar's plan to enhance player immersion, as the game's sound environment becomes more natural and attuned to character action. What this means for the GTA experience and player engagement If Rockstar officially incorporates this feature, it might signify a revolutionary change in GTA gameplay and culture. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Historically, GTA games have been lauded for their legendary radio stations and game soundtracks that establish the mood for every mission and cruising experience. Music playback while on foot might bring the player closer to the game world, creating a customized soundtrack for every second outside vehicles, tense shootouts, for instance, or leisurely strolls on Vice City beaches. In addition, this would update GTA 6 to meet the expectations of modern gamers for flexible, gapless music implementation similar to real life. It also creates new opportunities for gameplay mechanics, such as influencing character mood or interaction based on music, introducing depth and customization. Although Rockstar has not yet officially announced this feature, the precedent set in the recent screenshots and the longstanding community request for it leave it a very likely and interesting development. Adding on-foot music playback may further enrich Vice City's already unparalleled atmosphere, making GTA 6 more than a visual work of art, but an auditory one as well. In short, the appearance of Lucia's earbuds is more than a minor detail; it's an indication of a possible quantum leap in how Rockstar crafts intense, player-controlled audio experiences. If implemented, the feature would finally allow players to soundtrack their escapades outside of the driver's seat, infusing new life into the streets of Vice City. Fans can only hope for confirmation in the meantime, but as things stand, the earbuds have already said a lot. Also Read:

I don't like the look of GTA 6 and I'm not afraid to admit it - Reader's Feature
A reader explains all the problems he has with the Grand Theft Auto franchise in general and why e's unlikely to ever buy GTA 6. There has, understandably, been a lot of talk about GTA 6 in the last few weeks, after the annoucement of the release date and the release of the new trailer. But there's also been a lot of (well, some) talk recently from people admitting they don't really like the series and aren't actually that excited about a new one. I am one of those people and while others seem embarrassed of their opinion, I'm not afraid to explain the issues I have with it or why I think it is overrated in some areas. I'll start with what I accept the game does very well, starting with the open world design and the general size and level of detail of it all. It's obviously very impressive, although not that interactive, in that you can't go into most buildings, and there's little to no destruction effects either. I doubt that will be much different in GTA 6, simply because that sort of thing requires a ton of horsepower, that console don't have yet. The detail from GTA comes less from the interactivity and more from the huge array of things you can see and do, with lots of mini-games and optional missions. All of that stuff is great and not only does GTA 5 still look good, but GTA 6 looks amazing. More than that, it looks extremely expensive. Over $1 billion according to the rumours. You can certainly see that money on screen and I'm sure it's all matched by hundreds of hours of dialogue for even the smallest characters. I'm sure no expense was spared anywhere. I have three main problems with the games that already exist though and while they could be improved, or even removed entirely, in GTA 6 I'm not confident of that as Rockstar will assume, quite understandably, that if it ain't broke don't fix it. So the first issue I have is the gameplay: it's just not good. Up to GTA 5 it was downright terrible, with overcomplicated and completely awful combat and driving – like you're steering a boat is the common comparison. Some things, like controlling aircraft are so broken there's just no point doing it. Nothing is fun, beyond the novelty of being in such a big game world, and almost every other similar game does it better. When you're getting outdone by Saints Row, which could probably have been made with the catering budget of GTA 5, let alone 6, you know something's wrong. My next problem is the plot. Rockstar get praised a lot for their dialogue, which I'll get onto in a minute, but their plots are always paper thin to the point where they barely exist at all. I mean, what is the plot of GTA 5? Three men do crimes. The end. The game gets so caught up in its own size it never bothers to tell an actual story. The third issue, in my opinion, is the dialogue. Not necessarily the writing quality of it but the fact that it's always so try-hard and edgy. Rockstar started making GTA 3 in the 90s and that's no more obvious than in the dialogue, which sounds like every angst-ridden teen's idea of tough guy dialogue. I get that's exactly why the game is popular, but I don't like it. Even though the head writer has left I see no sign of change in GTA 6, where main character Jason seems to already have morphed from just an ordinary looking guy in the first trailer to a musclebound beefcake who is so ultra cool women catcall him from the street when he's driving by. I get it, the whole game is a teenage boy's fantasy, but c'mon. Surely we can aim higher than that by now? I'm also worried about the trailers revelling in the absolute worst of American culture, which may be meant as parody but already comes across as endorsement. I think that's particularly unfortunate given when they started this game they had no idea Trump would get in for a second time. More Trending I actually wonder whether that's one of the reasons they've delayed the game, to rewrite some of the dialogue, but I imagine little will really change. And that's why I have no interest in anything I've seen so far of GTA 6.
