The star was only recently robbed while she was in America, but her bad luck didn't end there as she opened up about the disaster incident that occurred in the United Arab Emirates. Earlier in the clip, Saffron reiterated it wasn't the staff member's fault and it was accidental. She said to fans: "It means I've lost all my footage and camera which I've obviously just bought because I got it stolen in the US. So that's another £1000 camera just gone. "But for me, I think I'm so upset because it's every I vlogged this trip, it's before this trip. It's basically all my footage." She also filmed a scuba diver attempting to recover the camera in hopes the SD card would still work. Josh later added to the camera: "The guy who went down, he saw the anchor and said it was dragging. So, we have moved since we docked. So the chances of getting the camera are very low." In May, while Josh and Saffron were in the US, the YouTuber revealed armed men broke into her car and stole all her belongings while the couple were at a Peggy Sue's diner. "I honestly can't leave the US right now and everything I had with me was completely stolen," Saffron said. "If I'm being honest, this trip has just not gone to plan at all. I've suffered the worst pain I've ever felt in my life.' Everything, including their passports and medication, was stolen. 'It's not just the material things. It's everything we needed. We had nothing left, no ID, no medication, nothing," Saffron explained. In her recent YouTube video detailing the 'nightmare' holiday, she stated: "We keep saying how lucky we are, we could have been held at gun point. These people could have been following us." "I think honestly it happens quite often at Peggy Sue's. I know for a fact that if Josh had walked out and seen it you would have gone over there and they have guns and stuff here. "So we are also very, very grateful that nothing like that happened to us and neither of us are hurt."

There were lots of cars around, so we didn't think anything bad could happen.' But when they returned to their car after just half an hour inside, they found it completely smashed up. Every single item inside was stolen - including their passports and Saffron's medication. She said tearfully: 'It's not just the material things. It's everything we needed. We had nothing left, no ID, no medication, nothing.' The incident was made worse by the fact the area was busy and yet no one seemed to intervene. Josh added: 'There were tourists everywhere, and apparently this happens almost every day. It's crazy that there are no warning signs.' Despite their shock and devastation, the couple counted their blessings. Saffron said: 'I'm so grateful to be alive. They have guns in America, and something much worse could have happened. We keep telling ourselves that we should be grateful we're still here.' 5 A scuba diver attempted to recover Saffron's camera Credit: YouTube / Saffron Barker

The Newest Restaurant Openings in New Orleans, June 2025
As the summer looms, it's heartening to see a handful of new initiatives around town, crowned by the buzzworthy opening of the Kingsway from chef Ashwin Vilkhu. The Kingsway restaurant, chef Ashwin Vilkhu's first solo venture, started taking reservations on June 10 — an opening, delayed by a slew of building issues, three years in the works. Vilkhu's family is the culinary force behind Saffron, the modern Indian restaurant opened by his chef father, Arvinder Vilkhu, in 2017. This year, the father and son were co-nominated for the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: South. Located just steps from Saffron, at 4201 Magazine Street, the Kingsway is personal for the second-generation chef, a medium for sharing his family's culinary origin story through chopstick-worthy childhood Asian dishes. The restaurant is named for Kingsway Drive East, the street where the family lived on the Westbank when they moved from New Delhi to New Orleans in the 1980s. New Orleans architecture and interior design firm Farouiki Farouki created a welcoming and elegant space throughout the light-filled dining room and glowing back bar. The four-course, $92 tasting menu conjures some of Vilkhu's favorite culinary memories, amplified by the chef's technique and his commitment to quality ingredients. Guests select from three to four dishes for each course, with options like the stellar gulf yellowfin tuna with the chef's five-year chili sauce and sticky rice and a crispy, wok-fried take on Mongolian beef, made with slices of leg of lamb. Colin Williams leads the cocktail program with a focus on Asian flavors, while sommelier Taylor Adams builds a wine list of hidden treasures to complement the canon of bold flavors. Chef Luci Winsberg, who began her culinary career under chef Sue Zemanick at Gautreau's, is now in the compact kitchen at RRNW, the Uptown neighborhood wine shop owned by Darrin Ylisto and Miriam Matasar. Winsberg, who was Zemanick's sous chef when she opened Zasu, dishes creative seasonal plates suitable for snacking or lunch, from tartines and dips to entree salads. She's also featuring farmed oysters from Justin Trosclair at Lady Nellie Oyster Farms. Melissa Stewart and her partner chef Baruch Rabasa are on the brink of opening their Applied Arts Coffee in Bywater. 'We are in the 'two more weeks' phase,' said Stewart, wading through the glacial pace of city permitting before they can open their doors this summer. Beyond the focus on sustainably and responsibly sourced coffee roasted to order, Rabasa will be creating beautifully composed smørrebrød (pronounced smore-bro) Scandinavian open-faced sandwiches that speak to Stewart's Norwegian heritage. Baruch's Mediterranean and Mexican roots will show up in pastries, salads, and the brand's specialty-grade coffee. Summer is the perfect time to check out Lost Coyote, a newish restaurant with a pool at 1614 Esplanade Avenue, on the edge of the historic Treme neighborhood. The owners are Colin Kennedy, whose years of management experience include a lengthy stint at Creole Cuisine Concepts, and chef Nicole Theriot Lauten, a Louisiana girl from down the bayou in Terrebonne Parish. A graduate of the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute, she calls her time working with chef Nina Compton at Compere Lapin and the recently closed Bywater American Bistro her most formative professional years. Formerly Joe Joe on the Ridge, a Mexican concept, Lost Coyote features an eclectic American menu of salads, small bites, and hearty entrees, alongside a bottomless mimosa brunch on weekends. Take a dip in the spacious pool for $20 a day, which includes a glass of bubbles and a towel. There's free onsite parking and bonus — a goat name Rosita out back. Coma Arepas, Origen chef and owner Julio Machado's ode to his country's national street food dish, will open at the St. Roch Market on June 19. The naturally gluten-free flat cornmeal cakes are as popular in Machado's native Venezuela as tacos are in Mexico. Arepas toppings include plantains, cheese, black beans, shredded beef or chicken, avocado, and more. This is Machado's second Coma Arepas location, the other is in Kenner at 3809 Williams Blvd. See More: New Orleans Restaurant Openings

Ayrshire pupils among funniest in Scotland at national joke telling competition
Ayrshire's school pupils proved to be the funniest in Scotland after Saffron Barrett, Freya McVie Branley and Craig Speirs competed in the VoiceBox competition. Three Ayrshire pupils were among the funniest in Scotland at a national joke telling competition with two of them winning prizes. Saffron Barrett of Glenburn Primary in Prestwick, Freya McVie Branley of St Winning's Primary in Kilwinning and Craig Speirs of Shortlees Primary in Kilmarnock represented the county at the the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists' (RCSLT) VoiceBox competition. P1 Saffron, P7 Freya and P5 Craig travelled to Edinburgh for the competition which was held at the Scottish Parliament on June 5. With jokes that had the judges in stitches, Freya was named as runner-up, Craig in third place and Saffron unlucky to miss out on the top three. Freya takes home a £75 toy gift card, as well as £200 worth of books for her school while Craig bagged a £50 toy gift card, as well as £200 worth of books for his school, courtesy of competition sponsors, Collins Big Cat. As a finalist, Saffron also won £100 worth of books for her school. Ezra Pasifull, Primary Three, from Oakbank Primary School in Perth and Kinross, was crowned as the winner of the VoiceBox competition. The final featured 32 pupils from across Scotland, with a regional winner representing each local authority. Every finalist performed their joke live before an audience of MSPs, families, and supporters. The final followed a nationwide call for entries that saw thousands of jokes submitted by pupils from hundreds of primary schools. VoiceBox was created by the RCSLT to spotlight the importance of early speech, language and communication development and the power of speech and language therapy. While rooted in fun, the competition's purpose is to raise awareness of the vital role communication plays in a child's confidence, learning and life outcomes. Glenn Carter, head of RCSLT Scotland, said: 'While the event is full of joy and laughter, its purpose is serious. Speech, language and communication are essential skills that underpin a child's learning, relationships, and long-term opportunities. 'VoiceBox shines a light on this by showing just what children can achieve when they're supported to express themselves.' The final was hosted by the Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament, Alison Johnstone MSP, and compered by BBC journalist and comedian Zara Janjua. Commenting, Ms Johnstone said: 'It was a pleasure to welcome so many young people from across Scotland to their Parliament. 'Following a strong nationwide competition, I want to congratulate all our finalists. The effort, imagination and thought that went into their contributions was extremely impressive. 'I'm pleased that once again the Parliament was able to support such a worthwhile competition.'
