New Delhi [India], June 19 (ANI): Congress leader Sachin Pilot said that large-scale job fair organised by the party on Thursday to commemorate Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's 55th birthday was the 'best gift' the party could give to its leader. Speaking to ANI about the job fair, Congress leader Sachin Pilot said, 'Today the Congress party has provided a platform where thousands of youth have got the opportunity to get employment... The central government and the ruling party should learn a lesson from this. Will they do only politics or will they do something for the people of the country as well? ... We cannot give a better gift than this to Rahul Gandhi.' Congress MP Rahul Gandhi arrived at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Headquarters at 24 Akbar Road in Delhi on Thursday, as he celebrated his 55th birthday. Party workers gathered in large numbers to extend their best wishes to the Congress leader, creating a festive atmosphere at the AICC premises. Congress supporters distributed sweets and celebrated the occasion. Many extended birthday greetings to Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on his 55th birthday, commending his unwavering commitment to constitutional values, social justice, and the upliftment of marginalised communities. The Congress party also honoured Rahul Gandhi's leadership on social media, calling him a 'true crusader for justice'. Meanwhile, while speaking to mediapersons here today, Sachin Pilot responded to US President Donald Trump's statement. 'The US President is consistently and continuously saying that he brokered the ceasefire by either showing the threat or allurement for a trade Spokesperson have denied that, but from the highest levels that statement should be contradicted, if it is hosting the Pakistani Army Chief at the White House, it is a clear indication of how the US government sees the Indo-Pak Indian government must attain more global alliances to take on this posturing that the US government is will never accept any mediation on are calling for a special session of the Parliament to send a message that PoK is ours,' said Pilot. Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla also reacted on the same and told ANI, 'There has not been a single statement from the Prime Minister on this. General Asim, who has a role in promoting terrorism, is having lunch with Trump. Trump is saying that he is our good friend. Our foreign policy has completely failed. This government, the Prime Minister should pay attention to this.' This comes after US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (local time) hosted Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir at the White House for a lunch meeting, praising Munir for his role in preventing the escalation of the conflict between India and Pakistan. Trump said, 'The reason I had him here was I wanted to thank him for not going into the war and ending it...' Earlier, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh also raised concerns and said that it was a huge blow to Indian diplomacy. In a post on X, Jairam said that Munir is the same man whose inflammatory remarks formed the backdrop to the brutal Pahalgam attack on April 22. 'Field Marshall Asim Munir is NOT the Head of State or Head of Government of Pakistan. He is the Chief of Army Staff. Yet he gets invited by President Trump for lunch and receives much praise. This is the same man whose atrocious and inflammatory remarks formed the immediate backdrop to the brutal Pahalgam terror attacks orchestrated by the establishment over which he presides,' he said. 'It is a huge blow to Indian diplomacy (and huglomacy too),' Jairam added. (ANI)

"Lacks mentality to ensure justice for all": BJP leader CT Ravi slams Congress over caste census
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 18 (ANI): BJP leader CT Ravi on Wednesday reiterated the party's commitment to social justice, while launching a sharp critique of the Congress over its past handling of OBC reservations and welfare. Speaking to ANI over caste census, CT Ravi said, 'BJP is committed to social justice. We support social justice and will provide it. BJP believes everyone deserves justice.' He accused the Congress of lacking both the will and commitment to deliver on promises of equity. 'Congress lacks the mentality to ensure justice for all. The willpower within Congress is weak, and the commitment is weak. Within Congress, they blame others for everything,' he said. Ravi claimed, 'The political landscape began to shift only after the Congress lost its dominance, opening up space for fresh thinking and the advancement of OBC rights. It was then that OBCs began to receive justice as part of the welfare of the weaker sections. As long as Congress remained strong, it did not provide reservations to the OBCs.' Earlier on Tuesday, Congress leader Sachin Pilot questioned the intention of the BJP-led Union government over the caste census, accusing the Centre of delaying the exercise earlier by citing COVID-19 as an excuse. On the caste census, Congress leader Sachin Pilot told reporters, 'BJP and PM Modi had earlier said that the demand for a caste census is being raised by 'Urban Naxals', and they even mentioned in parliament in writing that they do not want to conduct it. After pressure from the opposition, they suddenly accepted our demand. But the notification now says the census will be conducted in 2027.' 'Earlier, they delayed it using COVID-19 as an excuse, and even now, we doubt their intention to fulfil this promise. Around Rs 8,000-10,000 crore is usually spent on the census, but this government has allocated only Rs 570 crore in the budget,' he said. He stated that the caste census ensures that the government schemes' benefits reach every beneficiary. 'The caste census is not just to know a person's caste -- it is to ensure that government schemes are reaching the people, to check whether they are benefiting from them, and to understand the employment rate,' he added. The notification to conduct the Census was published in the official Gazette on Monday, following a high-level meeting held in Delhi, where the Union Home Minister reviewed the plan along with the Union Home Secretary, Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India (RG&CCI), and other senior officials. The Population Census 2027 will begin with a reference date of March 1, 2027, for most parts of the country. The reference date for snow-bound and non-synchronous areas such as Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will be October 1, 2026. (ANI)

Caste census: Pilot seeks to put government on mat, questions timing & intentions
NEW DELHI: Calling for more clarity on caste based census, the Congress on Tuesday urged the government to clarify the reasoning behind the low budget allocation, stop the delay tactics, and conduct the census with the same integrity demonstrated by Telangana. Addressing the media in the capital, senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot hit out at the union government for no official mention about the caste census on Monday's official notification announcing the delayed census. The caste census would meet the same fate as that of the Women Reservation Bill, which the government postponed even after it was passed in the Parliament, he said. 'Is the 2027 census being timed to engineer a new delimitation that benefits BJP-ruled states?' he asked. The Congress general secretary said that while India missed its scheduled census date of 2021, with the enumeration now having been pushed to 2027, there is no mention of a caste census in the notification. Citing the Telangana model, he said that the state government issued a notification that explicitly mentioned the word 'caste'. 'The state government made it clear that it would carry out a household survey to assess social, educational, economic, employment, political, and caste-related parameters,' he added.
