Sabah chamber bridges cultural and economic exchange with Zhang Clan delegation

KOTA KINABALU (June 21): The Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) is committed to building a bridge for economic, trade and cultural exchanges between China and Sabah.
Guided by the principle of mutual cooperation and win-win development, the Chamber actively promotes the rich heritage of traditional Chinese culture.
This was expressed on Friday by SCCC president Datuk Frankie Liew during an exchange session held at the SCCC conference room with a 14-member delegation from China led by President Zhang Huaxia of the Hui Gong Cultural Committee of China (Zhang Clan Association of China) and the Beijing Hui Gong Cultural Development Centre (Zhang Clan Association of Beijing).
Liew stated that this meeting was more than a cultural exchange — it also symbolized the deep kinship between the two associations and celebrated the grand opening of the new Sabah Zhang Clan Association building.
He praised the dedication and enthusiasm of the Zhang Clan representatives, calling the occasion a moving testament to the enduring strength of ancestral bonds.
The new building is not only a milestone for Zhang clan members in Sabah, but also a powerful symbol of the thriving development of Zhang clan culture abroad. It contributes to greater unity and cohesion among Zhang clan members worldwide.
He emphasized that since its founding, the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce has worked to serve as a vital platform for economic and cultural collaboration between Sabah and China. He noted that Zhang clan culture, as a brilliant gem of traditional Chinese heritage, reflects values such as solidarity, mutual support and perseverance — all of which align with the Chamber's philosophy of cooperative and mutually beneficial growth.
'This meeting is both a joyful reunion and a new beginning for deeper cooperation,' he said. 'Under the outstanding leadership of President Zhang Huaxia, we believe the grand opening of the Sabah Zhang Clan Association's new building will serve as a launchpad for broader and more in-depth collaborations — whether in cultural heritage, business, or community engagement — helping to promote Chinese traditional values while advancing prosperity on both sides.'
Liew recalled that years ago, he was honored to attend a major Zhang Clan Association celebration in China at the invitation of Zhang. During that memorable occasion, they shared in the timeless brotherhood story of Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei taking the 'Peach Garden Oath' — a vow of loyalty and unity. He said this legendary tale of fraternity and righteousness remains a powerful reminder of the deep and cherished friendship between himself, Zhang, and all Zhang clan members.
Liew also extended heartfelt congratulations on the successful opening of the Sabah Zhang Clan Association's new headquarters and expressed hope that, inspired by the loyalty and righteousness of Liu, Guan and Zhang, both organizations will continue to work hand-in-hand to create a new chapter of mutual success and lasting cooperation.

The China Zhang clan delegates were Zhang Huaxia, Jiang Li, Zhang Jundong, Zhang Ziyan, Zhang Yuelin, Zhang Ziliang, Zhang Qilun, Zhang Chunfeng, Liu Zhiwen, Zhang Zhijie, Yang Zhihua, Liu Zhenmin, Xie Yinhui and Zhang Tao.
