SEMPORNA: Marine Police arrested three men allegedly misappropriating diesel, petrol and cooking oil following raids in Semporna and Labuan. Sabah Region Four Marine Commander, ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said, about 3.40pm on June 10, a police team raided a warehouse in Labuan. Advertisement Further inspection on the warehouse found three Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) tanks containing diesel and nine IBC tanks containing 8,500kg of cooking oil. 'A total of 2,600 litres of diesel were seized. All the seizures were estimated worth RM370,324. 'The team also detained an individual to assist in investigation,' he said in a statement on Wednesday. Mohd Nazri said about 5.30pm on the same day, Marine Police from Semporna and Lahad Datu seized 153 jerry cans containing petrol and two boats at Kampung Batu in Semporna. Two individuals were detained to assist in investigation while the seizures were estimated worth RM107,738.50. Mohd Nazri added that investigations were carried out under the Control of Supplies Act 1961. SEMPORNA: Marine Police foiled two attempts by two speed boats to smuggle in migrants via Pulau Boheian waters on Sunday. Sabah Region Four Marine Commander, ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim, said the speed boats were apprehended in Ops Taring Gelora conducted in the areas. 'Inspection found that the speedboats were carrying 25 passengers attempting to enter the state without permission. 'The boat skipper admitted they were paid and from the Philippines and wanted to enter Semporn,' he said. Mohd Nazri said all those detained and the seizures estimated worth RM65,237 were taken to the Semporna Marine base for further action. He said both cases are being investigated under Section 26A of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom) Act 2007 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. Advertisement He said human smuggling is a serious matter, especially in the east coast and the police always keep an eye on this matter. Marine Police will continue to intensify patrol and operation as well as taking stern action against any parties attempting to enter the state or involved in smuggling of migrants. SEMPORNA: Marine Police foiled an attempt by two men to make off with sawn timber believed stolen from Pulau Timbun Mata Forest Reserve, on Wednesday. Sabah Region Four Marine Commander, ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim, said while patrolling in the Tobo-Tobo waters, the team spotted a speed boat carrying the sawn timber, at about 1.30am Advertisement 'Upon inspection, the team found that the boat was operated by a 41-year-old local man and a 42-year-old foreigner. 'All the seizures, including the boat and its engine, were estimated to be worth RM30,350,' he said, adding that the case would be investigated under the Forest Enactment 1968 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. In a separate raid, the Marine seized a total of 663kg of packets of subsidised cooking oil following an operation off Kampung Panji waters. The subsidised items were left inside a speed boat which was towed to a jetty. The items were believed to be smuggled out to a neighbouring country. He said all the seizures estimated worth RM62,014 and investigation would be carried out under the Control of Supply Act 1961. Marine Sabah remains committed to combating smuggling activities for national safety and well-being. In Lahad Datu, police arrested three men and seized substance suspected to be syabu worth RM8,063. The arrest and seizure were made following a raid on a hut at Kg Ubi, Jalan Kenangan conducted by the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division (JSJN) of Lahad Datu Police Headquarters. Acting District Police Chief, Supt Jimmy Panyau, said following the raid, the team seized 73.30 grammes of syabu as well as tools suspected of being used in the drug-related activities. 'Urine tests conducted on the suspects showed two of them tested positive for Methamphetamine and Amphetamine. 'All three suspects aged between 27 and 48 were detained for further investigations,' he said. Jimmy said they suspects also did not have any valid identification documents. LAHAD DATU: Marine police thwarted misappropriation of 9,000 litres of petrol in an operation at Jalan POIC on Monday. Sabah Region Four Marine Commander ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said the Marine Intelligence unit carried out inspection on a premises suspected of storing subsidised oil. He said inspection found 9,000 litres of petrol stored in 17 units of plastic drums of different sizes, five units of IBC L tank and two units of fibre tank. 'During the operation, the team detained a man who failed to produce a permit from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).
