CM flying squad to probe MCM sanitation contract

Gurgaon: The CM flying squad has initiated an investigation into MCM's sanitation contract with Akanksha Enterprises, demanding documents such as tender details, contractor payments, and supervision records. The probe follows MCM's recent Rs 9.2 crore penalty on the contractor for inadequate service delivery. The contract, initially valid till Feb 2025, was extended to May. "A letter was sent to the MCM officials seeking details of the contract so that the CM flying squad could probe the matter. The civic body was given a week's time to probe the matter," said a ULB official privy to the matter. The contractor submitted an invoice of Rs 13.2 crore for services rendered during these three months. The representative of Akanksha Enterprises, Shishpal Rana, could not be reached despite repeated attempts by TOI. In April, the company also faced a Rs 4.3 crore penalty, during which they alleged bribery among senior MCM officials and payment delays, leading to the transfer of the then MCM commissioner. A sanitation standing committee reviewed the work of the agency between Feb 20, 2025, and May 19, 2025. A meeting was held on June 4 when the committee recommended deducting over Rs 9.17 crore from the agency's Rs 13.17 crore bill, approving only Rs 3.9 crore for payment. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo According to state govt-sanctioned estimates derived from central public health and environment engineering standards (SWM manual of CPPHEO norms, 20216) and the project's request for proposal (RFP), the agency was required to supply 1,997 personnel, 96 tractor trolleys, 468 rickshaw carts, and four earthmovers for sweeping roads in the MCM area. The urban local bodies (ULB) department stipulated that all SWM payments would be processed via the SWM monitoring portal starting Jan 2025. The committee observed a significant gap between the actual deployment figures shown on the SWM portal. It revealed personnel shortfalls of 1,315 in Feb, 1,355 in March, 1,533 in April, and 1,284 in May. Regarding equipment deployment, the committee's review showed that the agency provided only 101 rickshaw carts instead of the required 468 and merely 38 tractor trolleys against the specified 94, indicating substantial shortages in equipment provision for their work in the MCM area for three months.

Top 7 sales boss Henry Tajer exits just six months in job

Don't miss out on the headlines from TV. Followed categories will be added to My News. Seven is searching for a new head of sales following the exit of its chief commercial officer Henry Tajer after six months in the role. Mr Tajer was appointed to Seven's most senior sales role in January following a radical restructure of Seven's corporate structure last year leading to the departure of seasoned Seven executives including advertising chief Kurt Burnette in June 2024. On Monday Seven confirmed Mr Tajer will transition from his full-time role into a consulting arrangement from the end of the month. Seven West Media managing director and CEO Jeff Howard praised Mr Tajer in Monday's announcement saying: 'Henry brought a new level of bold and innovative thinking to Seven's sales team. He drove significant change in his short time at Seven and on behalf of the entire team, I would like to thank him for his contribution. I look forward to continuing to work with Henry on opportunities to drive growth for SWM.' Seven is searching for a new head of sales following the exit of Henry Tajer. Picture: Hollie Adams/The Australian Seven West Media managing director and CEO Jeff Howard praised Mr Tajer. Picture: NewsWire / Martin Ollman Mr Tajer initially joined Seven as a consultant in August 2024 before becoming Seven's full-time CCO in January 2025, a role that saw him put on a lucrative contract at Seven. His predecessor Mr Burnette had been on $1.25 million a year at the time of his departure. Mr Tajer said of his departure from Seven that it would allow him to transition back to consulting work while allowing him to focus on the 'many exciting opportunities still ahead for Seven' as a consultant. The Seven sales team will be jointly led by Mr Tajer's former direct reports, Katie Finney, Seven's national TV sales director and national digital sales director Jordan King while a search is conducted for Mr Tajer's replacement. In May reported Mr Tajer's appointment at Seven had been the result of a decade of lobbying for a top sales job in Australian television. The Seven sales team will be led by Katie Finney until a replacement for Mr Tajer can be found. Picture: LinkedIn Mr Tajer is said to have won over Ryan Stokes and his dad, Seven chairman Kerry Stokes. Picture: John Feder/The Australian. Sources claimed he ultimately won over Seven chairman Kerry Stokes and son Ryan Stokes, non-executive director of Seven's board, leading to his appointment in January. Mr Tajer's aggressive and at times unconventional style has drawn critics internally and externally in recent years. He arrived at Seven following a string of short-lived roles. Prior to consulting for Seven he was CEO of The Influence Group for a year until June 2023. His previous role at marketing company Dentsu Aegis also lasted one year and saw Mr Tajer ruffle feathers. He also made headlines in adland in 2017 after exiting his role as Global CEO of IPG Mediabrands – a role he relocated his family from Australia to New York two years earlier in 2015 to fill. Mr Tajer's departure follows the recent exit of Seven's 'rookie' news boss Anthony De Ceglie after a controversial year at the broadcaster. At MCM, payments for waste cos only after councillor nod

Gurgaon: MCM commissioner Ayush Sinha has issued strict directives to waste collection and street cleaning agencies, threatening penalties for non-compliance with contractual obligations. Agencies must now regularly update their operational data on the solid waste management portal (SWM) with payments linked to satisfaction certificates from ward councillors. Agency representatives were also directed to equip all garbage collection vehicles with GPS and improve sanitation in the municipal area. "Garbage vulnerable points must also be cleaned daily. In residential areas, garbage should be collected twice a day, and the number of rounds should be increased if necessary. In villages with market areas, garbage collection vehicles should go after 9 am," said the commissioner, adding that the responsibility for monitoring the work of agencies has been assigned to the officers and employees of the sanitation branch Orders have also been given to the revenue branch to identify land for a new dumping site. Meanwhile, MCM officials will monitor the work of the agency processing waste at the Sector 8 dumping site. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo There is around 4,000 metric tonnes (MT) of waste lying unprocessed at the site. Bengaluru civic body cracks down on solid waste management cess fraud

BENGALURU : In response to widespread misuse of solid waste management (SWM) fee waivers, the BBMP is set to form special teams to verify claims made by large apartments and commercial establishments that they handle their own waste disposal. A BBMP official said, 'The teams will audit exempted properties and initiate strict action against violators, including imposing double penalties on those found submitting false declarations. Several apartment complexes, commercial buildings, star hotels, and restaurants across Bengaluru have allegedly exploited a BBMP provision by falsely claiming they scientifically process their own waste. This has allowed them to evade the mandatory SWM cess introduced for the 2025-26 fiscal year, which BBMP began collecting in April along with property tax.' The SWM cess is calculated based on a building's size and its daily waste output. While it is being charged to all residential properties, waivers were granted only to bulk waste generators — specifically, apartments with more than 100 units, buildings over 50,000 sq. ft., or those generating over 100 kg of waste per day. However, BBMP has discovered that several exempted properties continue to rely on the civic body's waste collection vehicles, despite claiming otherwise. This fraudulent practice has not only led to revenue losses but has also created operational challenges for the municipal authority. Only Rs 400 cr from SWM cess so far From April to June 10, BBMP collected `2,740 crore in total property tax, out of which only `400 crore came from the SWM cess. Officials noted that the majority of this amount was contributed by individual residential property owners, as most commercial entities misused the self-disposal exemption. A senior BBMP official confirmed, 'Owners who falsely claimed to manage waste independently will now face double penalties.'

Corporation employees seek pay hike, protest use of waste management portal for attendance in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: Pushing for job security, fair wages and better working conditions, the Haryana Municipal Employees Union submitted a 21-point charter of demands to MCG additional commissioners Yash Jaluka and Ravinder Yadav on Tuesday. The union has strongly opposed the use of the Solid Waste Management (SWM) portal for marking attendance and called for withdrawal of the "no work, no pay" rule. Currently, sanitation workers' attendance is marked through the SWM portal, and their salaries are calculated based on the days they log in. TOI had reported on April 19 that a review meeting revealed that 932 of the 5,066 registered sanitation workers were not regularly marking attendance on the portal, raising concerns about payment delays and job insecurity. "During our meeting, union representatives outlined various challenges affecting municipal workers and sought swift solutions. We provided a patient hearing and gave assurances regarding the consideration and resolution of staff demands to the extent feasible," said Ravinder Yadav. Among the major demands were the abolition of contractual hiring for sanitation and sewer work, and the conversion of all such positions into permanent posts. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Device Made My Power Bill Drop Overnight elecTrick - Save upto 80% on Power Bill Pre-Order Undo The union also urged the corporation to formulate a clear policy to regularise the services of daily wage workers, contract workers, and those hired under the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN). Other demands included raising the temporary staff salary to Rs 27,000, reinstating terminated employees, re-hiring retrenched workers, and bringing fire services under MCG control. Workers also sought risk compensation, an equal pay policy, restoration of the old pension scheme, Rs 10 lakh in gratuity, better leave allowances, staff housing, and promotions for qualified sanitation staff.
