Kia EV9 GT brings pace and simulated gearshift
Kia's huge EV9 can now run 0-100 in 4.6sec, thanks to the introduction of a new 500hp+ GT model. That makes it one of the fastest three-row SUVs available. Only the seven-seat SQ7 is quicker, clocking in at 4.1sec. Oh, and the AMG GLS 63 does it in 4.2sec. Creating the added urge is a 160kW motor driving the front axle and a 270kW unit at the rear. The total system output is a claimed 374kW/800Nm. Prior to its arrival, the EV9 range-topper was the GT-Line. It outputs 283kW and 700Nm, for a 0-100 time of 6.0sec. As well as an uptick in output, the EV9 GT gets the simulated gearbox (virtual gear shift or VGS) and engine sounds, borrowed from sister brand Hyundai's Ioniq 5 N. Check out our review of the Kia EV9 GT-Line here. Paddles on the steering wheel control this and it adds engagement to the electric driving experience. Kia has also made a number of tweaks to the almost 2.7 tonne GT to ensure it corners with as much pace. It now comes with electronic suspension (adaptive damping). This adjusts firmness based on the car's drive mode. An electronic limited-slip differential distributes power to the wheels with the most traction. Wider 21-inch rubber helps it stick better while bigger front brakes (with green calipers) counteract the added performance. The EV9 GT's range claim is 450km per charge, slightly down on the 505km of the other dual-motor EV9s. A recharge of its 99.8kWh battery from 10-80 per cent takes 24 minutes, says Kia. The interior is similar to that of other EV9s, except that there is a range of neon-green highlights, on the steering wheel, and GT-only sports seats. These are finished in Alcantara and artificial leather. Ambient lighting can also be switched to the matching neon green hue. The GT arrives in Q3 this year in Europe, costing a similar amount to a Volvo EX90. It will be available in either six- or seven-seat configuration. A Kia NZ representative told us; 'While there are currently no plans to introduce the GT specification into the NZ market, we're always reviewing our product lineup and considering opportunities that best suit our customers. We'll be sure to share any updates if that changes in the future.'

Audi Launches Impressive Q7 Lease Offer
The 2025 Audi Q7 three-row crossover SUV remains the upscale athlete it's been since its current version debuted in 2017. But Audi hasn't let it wither on the vine, as updates have kept the Q7 fresh. This year, it receives a modest redesign of the grille, front and rear lighting, and wheels. There are also fresh trim updates inside, but the third row is just as tight as you might expect. Still, it makes for a compelling ride, one offered as the four-cylinder Q7 45 and six-cylinder Q7 55, each available in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trims. Audi also offers the eight-cylinder SQ7, the fastest and most athletic of the bunch. Regardless of package, all Q7s are strikingly handsome and sophisticated, with a solid tech package and enticing driving dynamics. And they come with some equally enticing lease deals. In Miami, you can get a 36-month lease on a 2025 Audi Q7 45 TFSI quattro in Premium trim for $715 a month with $4,299 down, making for a total monthly cost of $835 a month. In Dallas, it will cost $739 a month with $4,399 down, for a total of $861 a month. In Detroit, it will cost $719 per month for 36 months with $5,385 down for a total cost of $869 per month. In Seattle, the lease covers the same vehicle, the 2025 Q7 45, but in posher Premium Plus trim for 36 months at $799 a month with $4,999 down for a total cost of $938 monthly. The same vehicle in Southern California runs $789 a month for 36 months with $4,999 down for a total cost of $928 a month. In Detroit, that will run $759 every 30 days for a total monthly cost of $908. If you prefer to lease the more-powerful Q7 55 Premium Plus and you live in Seattle, you can drive it for for 36 months at $869 a month with $4,999 down for a total cost of $1,008 monthly. There are no special Q7 lease deals in Manhattan, nor any SQ7 special lease deals. The 2025 Audi Q7 comes as the four-cylinder Q7 45 with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a 12-volt hybrid system that generates 261 horsepower. You can also opt for the Q7 55, with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that incorporates a 48-volt hybrid system and generates a healthy 335 horsepower. But it's the SQ7 that will really excite you, thanks to its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine that produces a muscular 500 horsepower through an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard Quattro all-wheel drive. The EPA rates the Q7 45 at 22 mpg in combined city/highway driving, while the Q7 55 comes in at 20 mpg, and the SQ7 is rated at 17 mpg. Premium unleaded fuel is required and towing capacity tops out at 7,700 pounds with the V6. You'll find the cabin to be impeccably trimmed with high-quality materials and a sleek, modern flair. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a separate 8.6-inch touchscreen for climate and vehicle controls, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, making its tech package fairly up-to-date. With its outstanding fit and finish, comfortably quiet ride, agile handling, and, in the case of the Q7 55, a punchy drivetrain that returns decent fuel economy considering this vehicle's size, the Q7 is a superior offering among luxury three-row SUVs. A decent lease deal only makes it better. All offers end June 2, 2025. When leasing, consider the monthly payment cost, taxes, and fees before signing. Lease offers vary by metro market.
