The sequel to the 2012 film Son Of Sardaar brings Devgn back in his iconic role and features Mrunal Thakur as the female lead. Backed by Jio Studios, Devgn Films, and T-Series, the film promises a perfect mix of action, comedy, and high-spirited drama. In the upcoming sequel, Sanjay Dutt will return as Don, while a role originally intended for Vijay Raaz—Ravi Kishan's character from the first film—will now be portrayed by Sanjay Mishra. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the new installment arrives nearly 12 years after the original. Son of Sardaar 2 will lock horns at the box-office with Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor's film Param Sundari.

Son of Sardaar 2: Fans who were eagerly waiting for an update on Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar sequel were in for a surprise on Thursday. The actor took to his X account to announce that his upcoming action comedy will release on July 25. (Also read: 'We're not civilised, won't take it to a corner': Kajol spills the beans about resolving conflicts with Ajay Devgn) Sharing the poster of the film, Ajay wrote in the caption, "The Return of the Sardaar (fire emoticon) #SOS2 in cinemas near you on 25th July. The poster saw Ajay in a turban, standing atop two army tanks, flexing his moustache. Son of Sardaar 2 is directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and also stars Mrunal Thakur. The first film had Sonakshi Sinha in the lead. The makers are reportedly picking up on a fresh note and not from where the first movie ended. Ever since the film was announced, it has been mired in controversy. Vijay Raaz was reportedly removed from Son of Sardaar 2 due to unprofessional behaviour, reported Pinkvilla. Furthermore, Sanjay Dutt's visa troubles have reportedly led to him being ousted from the film. Ajay and Sanjay were to be seen as Billu and Jassi, respectively, in the film. He was replaced with Ravi Kishan in the film. Ajay is gearing up for the release of Maa, which he has co-produced and stars Kajol. Directed by Vishal Furia, the film stars Kajol as a protective mother who will go to any lengths to guard her daughter from mysterious forces. Maa will be released on 27 June. Fans saw Ajay last on screen in Raid 2. The film saw Ajay return as Indian Revenue Service Officer Amay Patnaik, who conducts a raid on Dada Manohar Bhai's property. It also starred Vaani Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh.

Mukul Dev Death: Ajay Devgn Pens Emotional Tribute; ‘Still Trying To Process It'

Actor Mukul Dev passed away on Friday in Delhi. He was 54. His sudden death left the film industry mourning, and his co-actors, colleagues and friends from the film fraternity expressed their grief through posts on social media. Ajay Devgn, who worked with Mukul Dev in Son Of Sardaar, penned an emotional note, remembering his co-actor. He expressed his shock over Mukul's sudden death, and remembered him for his ability to lighten even the darkest days. Ajay Devgn took to his Instagram stories to share a picture of Mukul Dev. Remembering the late actor, he wrote that his death was all too soon and sudden, and that he is still trying to process it. 'Still trying to process it… Mukul It's all too soon and sudden. You had a way of making everything lighter, even on the heaviest days. On Shanti," he wrote. Before his demise, Mukul Dev shot for his last film, Son Of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur. Vindu Dara Singh, who is also a part of the film, mourned Mukul Dev's demise. Now, actor Vindu Dara Singh, who worked with Mukul in Son of Sardaar, mourned his demise, and revealed that the actor had been battling loneliness. He shared that Mukul was not suffering from any disease, but used to drink a lot and would have gutkha. While speaking with ETimes, Vindu Dara Singh said, 'I don't think he was suffering from any disease but he used to drink a lot and would have gutkha. He had become overweight and he battled loneliness. He has a daughter but she is also, she was not staying with him. He was making his comeback with Son of Sardaar but the sad part is he won't be there to see it. It is very tragic news." He said that Mukul Dev had been hospitalized in Delhi for the past 8–10 days, where his health deteriorated and he sadly passed away last night. He also mentioned that Mukul was very close to his family, especially his parents, and had keeping to himself after their passing. Please join us for cremation at 5 PM," the note read. Mukul Dev had a successful run across television and films. He first appeared on the small screen in 1996 with the television serial Mumkin, where he portrayed the role of Vijay Pandey.
