500 police deployed for ASEAN meetings in Port Dickson

PORT DICKSON: Around 500 police personnel will be mobilised by the Negeri Sembilan Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to ensure the smooth running and security of the ASEAN meetings scheduled in Port Dickson this September. State police chief Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the deployment is aimed at safeguarding the high-level event, which will involve leaders, senior officials, and delegates from across the region. As part of preparedness efforts, the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) and the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), through the First Infantry Brigade, conducted the Urban Shield Exercise today, simulating scenarios involving riots and public disturbances. 'This joint exercise simulates a riot by extremist groups. It focuses on coordination and proper procedures in managing threats to public order and safety,' he told reporters at the parade ground of the Second Regiment of the Royal Armoured Corps, Sunggala Camp here. Also present was First Infantry Brigade commander Brig Gen Zamri Othman. The exercise, involving over 300 personnel, lasted nearly an hour and featured various military assets, including Gempita 8x8 armoured vehicles, GK-M1 weapons carriers, and ambulances from the Royal Malay Regiment. It demonstrated the use of water cannons by FRU units to disperse rioters, followed by military personnel stepping in and firing warning shots to regain control. A tight security formation was then activated to restore order. Several ASEAN meetings are scheduled to take place in Port Dickson this September, including the Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) for ASEAN Plus Three (APT), the East Asia Summit (EAS), the 15th ASEAN Maritime Forum, and the 13th Expanded ASEAN Maritime Forum. The drill served to assess the effectiveness of tactics, techniques and procedures in handling unrest, in line with National Security Council (NSC) guidelines. It also provided a practical platform to test real-world responses.

Indian tourists perform garba at Burj Khalifa; netizens say ‘TMKOC team reached' but ask ‘Daya bhabhi kidhar hai'

A group of Indian tourists were grooving to the traditional Garba to the Bollywood song "Chogada" from the 2018 film Loveyatri on the viewing deck of the world's tallest building Burj Khalifa in a viral video. The tourists, dressed in matching yellow outfits, performed Garba steps, drawing both admiration and outrage. While some praised the cultural expression, others expressed concerns about the appropriateness of such behavior in a public, international tourist space. Dubai-based content creator The Walking Lens posted it on Instagram. The caption attached to the video stated, 'A viral video shows tourists dancing to the Chogada song on top of the iconic Burj Khalifa! Would you dance there with your gang." One of the users said, 'TMKOC team reached.' Another said, 'Stop embarrassing the rest of us', 'Why is this glorified? We must learn to respect the sanctity of public places,' wrote a third user. The fourth asked, 'Daya bhabhi kidhar hai". Some were outraged over 'civic sense' as an internet user commented, 'Civic sense is a scarce resource.' 'Har jagah naachna nahi hota', 'TMKOC ghol ke pee liya'. 'Perfect example of 'Money can't buy class', "Common sense is not common these days," 'Civic sense?? RIP, 'Gokuldham society' were some other remarks made. The Burj Khalifa, officially inaugurated in 2010, is a globally recognised architectural marvel and currently holds the title of the tallest building in the world, soaring to an impressive height of 828 metres (2,717 feet). Located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the iconic skyscraper exemplifies cutting-edge engineering and innovative modern design. Designed by the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), with Adrian Smith as the chief architect, the Burj Khalifa features a distinctive triple-lobed footprint inspired by the Hymenocallis flower. The structure is composed of reinforced concrete, steel, and glass, and includes a central core with wings arranged in a Y-shaped pattern to provide stability against high winds and seismic forces.

Dubai Metro's Blue Line to House the World's Highest Station

Dubai is adding another record to its name — the world's tallest metro station is now underway as part of the new Dubai Metro Blue Line project. At 74 metres high, the future Emaar Properties Station will take the title of the world's highest metro stop. The design and foundation of the station were recently approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The concept draws inspiration from the idea of a 'crossing gateway,' blending seamlessly with the urban surroundings. Covering 11,000 square metres, the station will be able to handle 160,000 passengers per day, with a projected 70,000 daily users by 2040. Luxury Meets Functionality More than just height, the station stands out for its luxurious and sustainable design. The interior features natural stone, bronze metal panels, and glass ceilings to allow natural light to flow through. Earthy tones and robust materials give it a modern yet grounded feel. The finishes — including Jura limestone, granite flooring, and glass skylights — were selected to reflect both tradition and innovation. Sustainability was also a major focus, ensuring the station will endure Dubai's climate and heavy use for decades to come. Emaar Secures Naming Rights for 10 Years Emaar has officially secured the naming rights to the station for the next 10 years, starting from its opening in 2029. More details on station names across the Blue Line are expected to be announced soon. This station isn't just a transit hub — it's set to become a new landmark in Dubai's ever-evolving skyline.
