Powys child sex offender faces more jail for breach of order

A CHILD sex offender will be sentenced next month after he spent time with a female under 16 whose parent was not aware of his past convictions. Mark Colling breached a court order when he spent time with a parent and their children, but had failed to reveal his past. The 52-year-old is subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which stipulated he could not spend time with girls under the age of 16 unless it was with a parent or guardian who knew about his past. But he failed to disclose this to one parent who said they would not have allowed children to spend time with him had he done so. Colling, previously from Llandrindod Wells but now of Tan Y Foel in Llanymynech, admitted breaching the sexual harm prevention order last autumn when he appeared at Welshpool Magistrates' Court in May. Colling appeared at Mold Crown Court via videolink from prison in Stafford on Thursday, June 19; having been recalled to prison in October. Representing Colling, Philip Clemo said his client admitted the offence and had been recalled to prison due to the offence taking place while he was on licence. 'He has gone about his business in prison, getting qualifications,' said Mr Clemo. 'He is awaiting a parole board hearing and his offender manager said they would recommend his release. 'For reasons that escape me, he was not charged for this offence until May. I accept he committed the offence while on licence, but he has had to wait until May to be charged.' Judge Rhys Rowlands adjourned the case until July 2. He told Colling: 'Pease do not read anything into that, this is a serious matter. 'It will be difficult for the court to draw back from anything other than an immediate custodial sentence.'

Brecon man to be sentenced for social media accounts

A BRECON man will be sentenced next month after admitting several charges in relation to breaching the terms of sexual offences court sentence he received eight years ago. James Ward, 27, was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) by Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court in September 2017, when he was 19. Ward, of Dol Glas, Brecon, was charged with 12 breaches of that order earlier this year. It is alleged that Ward either held social media accounts with apps such as Tinder, Snapchat, Tiktok and YouTube using a different name and then deleted his profiles – both of which he was barred from doing by the SHPO – between September 2, 2022, and August 8, 2023. At Merthyr Crown Court on Friday, June 13, prosecutor Alycia Carpanini said Ward had previously pleaded guilty to four of the charges, entering not guilty pleas to eight others. She said the prosecution was satisfied with the defendant's guilty pleas and formally offered no evidence in relation to the other eight charges. Ross McQuillan-Johnson, Ward's barrister, was tied up in another hearing so Judge Richard Kember asked the defendant if he wanted to proceed or have the matter adjourned, to which Ward said: 'I want to save everyone's time and get on with it.' Judge Kember said Ward will be sentenced on the four offences he has admitted and adjourned the case so that a pre-sentence report can be carried out. He will return to court to be sentenced on July 17. His unconditional bail was extended, but the judge added a condition, to cooperate with the probation service in the preparation of a report.

Storey returned to the dock last month where the court heard he had contacted police to confess to trying to access an online chat site but had panicked after he could not close the application down last year. Officers attended at his flat the following day and after a short delay in answering the door the constables could hear Storey moving things around the property and had shouted 'I'll be just a minute'. The officers were eventually allowed entry and Storey immediately admitted he had been deleting the internet history on devices including a laptop, a mobile phone and a PlayStation 4. Monster paedophile banned from multiple parks, housing estates and streets until 2045

Monster paedophile banned from multiple parks, housing estates and streets until 2045 Steven Loveridge mapped the movements of young girls and used dice and playing cards to play a warped game of chance to determine his victims and the kind of offending he would carry out Steven Loveridge (Image: Dyfed-Powys Police ) A sexual predator who carried out detailed surveillance on children has been hit with a court order banning him from entering named parks, rugby and football clubs, housing estates, streets and footpaths, and going within 100 metres of any school. Steven Loveridge mapped the movements and habits of young girls and researched the best spots from which to watch them as well as plotting "escapes routes" he could use which avoided CCTV coverage. He also used dice and playing cards to play a "warped" game of chance to determine his victims and the kind of offending he would carry out. ‌ Last month the 60-year-old was given an extended sentence as a dangerous offender at Swansea Crown Court. Following the sentence police described Loveridge as a "monster". ‌ Now, Loveridge has been made the subject of a 20-year sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) which is designed to control his behaviour once he is released from custody. Under the order the defendant is prohibited from loitering within 100 metres of any school, nursery or playgroup and is banned from entering Blackpill in Swansea, Victoria Gardens in Neath town centre, Gorsedd Park in Ystradgynlais, Gwynfryn Park in Alltwen, and Ystrad Fawr Nature Reserve in Ystradgynlais. He is also banned from entering or loitering around Ystradgynlais Sports Centre and Penrhos playing fields in Ystradgynlais as well as Trebanos, Alltwen, and Ystalyfera rugby clubs and Pontardawe Town, Cwm Wanderers, and Ystradgynlais football clubs. Article continues below Loveridge is also banned from entering multiple residential streets and housing estates around Ystradgynlais, Ystalyfera, and Ynysmeudwy including Tawe Park, Glantawe Park, Gurnos, and the estate off Hodgson's Road, as well as from using a section of Cycle Route 43 around Ystalyfera. He is also banned from the seafront on Mumbles Road, Swansea, unless he is only passing through and does not stop, and is banned from loitering at any bus stop unless he is catching a bus. The order also imposes a series of restrictions and controls on the defendant's use of electronic devices and the internet, and bans him from entering and staying in any property where an under-18 lives without written approval from social services and from having contact with under-18s - save what is "inadvertent and not reasonably avoidable in the course of lawful daily life" - unless he his supervised by a parent who has knowledge of his conviction. ‌ The order will run until June, 2045. For the latest court reports sign up to our crime newsletter The extent of Loveridge's interest in children came to light after he was arrested for approaching young girls in shops in the Swansea Valley and exposing himself and making sexual comments. On arrest he was found to be carrying coloured dice and modified playing cards which it emerged were part of a "warped" game of chance he used to determine his victims. You can read the details of the case here ‌ A subsequent search of his home in Cyfyng Road in Ystalyfera uncovered maps and documents showing his detailed research of the movements of girls - many of whom he had assigned names to such as "Ponty Lollipop Girl" and "My Little Pony Girl" - including the routes they took to school and shops or parks they attended. Officers also uncovered videos of children he had taken with a camera on his cycle helmet and detailed notes where he recorded interactions he had had with girls in shops and other locations. Loveridge was given an extended 12 year and seven month sentence comprising six years and seven months in prison followed by an extended licence of six years. He will be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life. Article continues below Speaking after the sentencing, the officer in the case, Dyfed-Powys Police detective constable Andy Leonard, said: "The handwritten notes and audio recordings made by Steven Loveridge himself suggest that the offences he committed against the young girls in Ystradgynlais and Ystalyfera are just a glimpse of what this monster could be capable of.

Mum arranged for child sex offender to stay over for a week to rape her own young daughter

Mum arranged for child sex offender to stay over for a week to rape her own young daughter 'You discussed at length in disgustingly graphic detail what you intended to do' John Davies The mother of a young girl arranged for a registered sex offender to sexually abuse her daughter, discussing in 'graphic detail' how the assault would take place. The woman arranged for John Davies, 45, to visit her home with the intention of him assaulting her child. The two adults had explicit conversations about the sexual abuse that would happen to the child, Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard this week. Davies, from Staffordshire, and the mother discussed what clothing the girl would wear and he sent a picture of his collection of sex toys, commenting how he intended to use them. She and Davies planned for him to stay at the woman's home for a week. Don't miss a court report by signing up to our crime newsletter here Davies was handed an extended 20-year prison sentence, comprising 14 and a half years in custody and five and a half years on an extended licence for his crimes. The court was told that Davies was a registered sex offender and had been previously imprisoned in 2016 for offences including attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming and attempted sexual activity with a child under 16. Article continues below Between 2022 and 2023, Davies violated a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) a total of five times. In April, 2024, he told his offender manager that he had a second phone at his home and that he needed help. On April 27, 2024, police recovered the phone from a kitchen cupboard at his property. The phone was analysed and found to have 132 indecent images of children at category A - the most serious; 35 at category B and 77 at category C. Prosecutor Josh Daley said: "The images showed young girls, aged six to nine, being raped and in pain. The defendant was asked what age he liked and he said: 'Ideally seven to 10 being f*****'. He used 15 instant messaging services and he usernames without informing the police." The court heard the defendant also engaged in a chat with someone on Kik but it was unclear whether she was a child or not. The most serious charge was that involving the arrangements he made with the woman in Birmingham to rape her daughter. Mr Daley said: "He sent a picture of his sex toy collection and discussed how he would use gags, restraints and a collar. He said: 'It is a fantasy of mine. I want somebody to give me a chance'. He also sent a category A image of a child aged between seven and nine." Paul Cliff, mitigating, said Davies telling his offender manager about the phone led to the convictions, adding that no physical abuse took place on the girl. Judge Graeme Smith said in his view Davies was 'undoubtedly dangerous'. He said: "You discussed at length in disgustingly graphic detail what you intended to do." The judge added there was additional degradation and humiliation intended to the victim by the use of various sex toys. Davies pleaded guilty to arranging the commission of a child sex offence (rape of a child under 13); attempted sexual communication with a child; distributing a class A indecent image of a child; three charges of making indecent images of children; and three charges of breaching a SHPO. A jury found him guilty of arranging/facilitating the commission of a child sex offence – rape/assault by penetration of a child under 13. Davies was placed on the sex offenders' register for life.
