The Chase fans 'fuming' as ITV show taken off air in major schedule shake-up
The Chase fans were left fuming tonight as they switched over to ITV to watch their favourite quiz show - only to find out it had been pulled off air in a huge schedule shake-up The Chase fans were left fuming after ITV abruptly took their favoured quiz off air in a swift scheduling reshuffle. The usual 5pm slot for the fan favourite quiz show, fronted by Bradley Walsh, was unexpectedly pulled from the schedule on Tuesday (June 17). Today, the programme was pulled from its usual 5pm slot due to coverage of the Royal Ascot on the opening day of the racing festival. Unfortunately for fans, the bad news carries on all week with racing coverage starting at 1.30pm and finishing at 6pm. Disgruntled viewers took to X, previously known as Twitter, to vent their frustrations, with many quiz show lovers switching over to BBC One's Pointless. One disappointed fan penned: "# TheChase since there's no Chase tonight, it's over to #pointless", while another chaffed: "Not #TheChase I was expecting #RoyalAscot." Another penned: "Just sat down to watch #TheChase but instead i get [horse emoji]", as another who switched to the rival show announced: "No 5pm repeat of #TheChase today or all week due to Ascot! So Pointless will probably double its audience to at least 10." It's not the only ITV show that has been affected by the coverage. Yesterday, Loose Women 's Ruth Langsford announced that the show wouldn't be airing for the rest of the week. "That's it from us today, I'm afraid. It gets worse, we're not on all week," she told viewers. "ITV's coverage of Ascot will be on, but we will be back same time next Monday. Until then, have a lovely week." The Chase first graced our screens in 2009 and swiftly became a staple on ITV. It features regular contestants vying against each other, testing their general knowledge for the chance to bag a hefty cash prize. This isn't the inaugural time the quiz programme has encountered significant disruption this year. Earlier this month, the teatime programme was pulled off air to accommodate coverage of the UEFA Women's Nations League, Spain v England. The Chase also altered its usual timetable last week when two Soccer Aid for UNICEF special episodes were broadcast on Wednesday and Friday. Shaun Williams, David James, Lianne Sanderson, and Dion Dublin comprised the team of four celebrities who squared off against Darragh Ennis. Meanwhile, Dermot O'Leary, Lynsey Hipgrave, Kyle Walker, and Alex Brooker challenged Anne Hegerty on Friday night to raise funds for UNICEF. The Chase makes its comeback to our screens on Monday 23 from 5pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.

"I had a couple of sleepless nights I have to say, because it's just like the rug's been pulled from under your feet – what has been familiar.' Kaye, who is one of Loose Women's main anchors, said: 'It's going to have an impact. Lots of people will lose their jobs completely which is terrible. It's a huge change. 'But I gave myself a talking to and I listened to my own advice for once – change is hard, but it can be good. 'The past is a trap, don't fear the future – I'm telling myself all these things. And maybe this is the nudge that I needed to make some changes in my life and I'll just have to go with it.' It has been rumoured that the pool of Loose Women panellists will be reduced as part of the cutbacks, which will be introduced from January. So far none of the hosts know if their livelihoods are at stake. Unfortunately though, Loose Women fans will have to wait six days to get their next instalment. Today's (17 June 2025) This Morning, presented by Cat Deeley, 48, and Ben Shephard, 50, will air for an extra 30 minutes, meaning that the show will wrap up with 1pm. That will be followed by the ITV Lunchtime News and ITV News London. Then ITV's coverage of the Royal Ascot will be on the channel from 1:30pm to 6pm. At the end of Monday's episode, host Ruth Langsford, 65, said: 'That's it from us today, I'm afraid and actually it gets worse... 'We're not on all week!' She continued: 'ITV's coverage of Ascot will be on, but we will be next Monday, same time 12:30pm, until then, have a lovely week. 'Enjoy the sunshine if you have it. Bye! This is not the first time that Loose Women have been cancelled in recent weeks. The episode due to air on June 6 didn't air due to ITV airing the first Derby meeting from Epsom races. Taking on a Reformer Pilates session she showed off her impressive control taking on a series of moves. She penned in the caption: 'Yes, ACTUAL Pilates!! Back at it again with my wonderful teacher & friend @siobhanklloyd This is called the Down Stretch….it stretched things I didn't even know could stretch!! 'A great feeling when it's over! Thanks Siobhan… and for cooking me supper afterwards! @jojameswellbeing Pilates & Yoga Studio #pilates.' And her pals were impressed, as Alison Hammond wrote in the comments: 'This is so hard ! It comes after last month it was reported that Ruth has taken legal action to ensure her estranged husband, Eamonn Holmes, will not receive her share of their £3.6 million marital home. The former This Morning presenters, both 65, stunned fans last year when news broke in May that they had separated after 14 years of marriage and were heading for divorce. Following the split, Eamonn moved out of their six-bedroom home in Weybridge, Surrey, which the couple bought in 2014. The publication said that public documents state that if Ruth were to pass away, her share of the house would not go to GB News host Eamonn. Sarah Dwight, of the Law Society, told the outlet: 'One of the first things divorce lawyers do is to give their clients the option to sever the joint tenancy, so they can leave their share of the house to whoever they want. 'This move protects Ruth in that if she were to die, she can leave her wealth to whoever she wants, rather than Eamonn getting everything.'
