Youth killed, minor girl injured in Jehanabad celebratory firing
Patna: A 17-year-old youth was killed and a 12-year-old girl was seriously injured in a celebratory firing during a dance programme of a wedding at Korma village under Ghosi police station area in Jehanabad district on Saturday night. The youth, Roshan Kumar, son of Rajesh Yadav of Korma village, was rushed to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for treatment but he succumbed to his injuries, while the injured girl was undergoing treatment at the hospital. She is the daughter of Judagi Bind of the same village, police said. Sadar SDPO, Sanjeev Kumar, said, "The shooter is Vijay's brother-in-law's son, who is on the run after the incident, while the girl's entire family has left their home. The police are investigating the matter and arrests will be made soon." It was the wedding of Vijay Bind's daughter and the baraat had come from Dina Bigaha village under Makhadumpur police station area, he station house officer (SHO), Dadan Prasad, said a dance programme was underway at the wedding venue. Meanwhile, three unidentified youths climbed on the stage and started firing with a double-barrelled gun. A boy and a girl, who were watching the event, sustained bullet injuries in their stomach. "The injured youth and the girl were rushed to the sadar hospital for treatment. From there, the youth was referred to the PMCH where the doctors declared him dead. An FIR has been filed on the statements of the deceased's family against unidentified persons. Raids are being carried out to nab the accused," the SHO added. Boy injured in celebratory firing in Khagaria
Khagaria: A 12-year-old boy sustained a gunshot injury in a celebratory firing at Noniya Chak village under Bharatkhand police outpost in Khagaria district on Wednesday night. According to the villagers, some people started firing in the air during a wedding ceremony around midnight when a bullet hit victim Priyanshu Kumar of the same village. The victim was admitted to the local primary health centre (PHC) with an injury to his thigh. From there, he was rushed to Bhagalpur-based Mayaganj Hospital, where his condition was stated to be stable. Following the incident, chaos spread at the venue, and those involved in the celebratory firing fled the spot. At least 10-12 rounds of fire were shot in the air, according to eyewitnesses. Bharatkhand station house officer Roshan Kumar said they are making efforts to identify the accused, even as no formal complaint was received.
