The ultimate modular smartphone is also a decent mid-ranger

Fairphone, the Dutch company that specializes in making modular phones and components for its devices, is about to launch its sixth phone later this month. The upcoming Fairphone 6 is pushing the modular aspect a bit further by including a fully customizable back cover, allowing customers to personalize their phones the way they before that happens, we have to talk a little bit about its specs because Roland Quandt from has just leaked this very important piece of information. Now, before anyone gets too excited, Fairphone 6 is not a flagship device, and it was never meant to can be said about Fairphone 6 is that it's a pretty 'fair' mid-ranger. For starters, the handset sports a 6.31-inch LTPO-based P-OLED display that features 1-120Hz dynamic refresh rate and 2484 x 1116 pixels resolution (432 ppi pixel density). Fairphone also added Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for maximum screen the inside, the Fairphone 6 houses a mid-range, albeit old, Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 2TB via microSD card upgraded the battery, but not by much. Its upcoming phone is powered by a 4,415 mAh battery with support for 33W wired charging speeds. In comparison, Fairphone 5 uses a slightly smaller 4,200 mAh battery with 30W wired charging support. Fairphone 6 brings some upgrades over its predecessor | Image credit: As far as the camera goes, Fairphone 6 is said to feature a dual-camera setup, which includes a 50-megapixel main sensor with f/1.56 aperture, complemented by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with 120-degree field of view. There's also a 32-megapixel selfie snapper on the front side. For the sake of comparison, the previous model, Fairphone 5, has two 50-megapixel cameras on the back and one 50-megapixel camera on the front, so it seems that Fairphone 6 got a bit of a downgrade, although the quality of its cameras is said to be higher. Fairphone 6 will ship with Android 15 on board, but the Dutch company is expected to provide six or seven years of OS updates, so this isn't that important. What's important is how much it will cost and when you'll be able to order one. Well, according to Fairphone 6 is expected to be introduced in Europe on June 25. The phone will cost €550, a fair price for a rather niche product. Obviously, you can find older flagships at this price, but if you want a truly modular phone that allows you to change just about every component, this is the price you'll have to pay.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite variant rumored to have 50% more CPU cores — New chip with 18 cores and 64GB RAM is reportedly already in testing

A seasoned tech tipster has stated that Qualcomm is testing Snapdragon X2 Elite devices in configurations with 64GB of RAM. Roland Quandt, best known for his exclusives published via Germany's stated this weekend that the 'SC8480XP aka SD X2 Elite [is] in testing with 64GB RAM.' He is also more convinced than ever that this upcoming Oryon V3 CPU architecture chip will come packing 18 cores. PC enthusiasts are hopeful that Qualcomm has learnt some lessons from its initial Snapdragon X Elite venture. It had a lot of help from Microsoft to spearhead Copilot PCs using the first Oryon architecture processors last June. However, interest in them fell sharply as AMD and Intel responded rather swiftly with their own power-sipping but potent AI/NPU-enhanced laptop processors. The last time we heard murmurings about the touted SC8480XP was back in March. At the time, we highlighted that 18 cores would increase the CPU core count by 50% vs the first-gen Snapdragon X Elite. Moreover, the newer architecture is expected to deliver its own performance boost. Rumors also point to the Snapdragon X2 Elite looking to push into the desktop side of the market, or even servers. This notion comes from chatter about Qualcomm testing chips like the SC8480XP with advanced cooling solutions, including a 120mm radiator toting AiO. That would mark quite an intergenerational change. Moving on to other SoC specs, like onboard RAM, the last we heard, the SC8480XP was being tested in Qualcomm SiP (system in package) format with 48GB RAM on board, as well as a 1TB SSD storage on board. Now it looks like options with up to 64GB of RAM on board may be offered. Quandt was at Computex 2025 and kept a keen eye on Qualcomm developments during the show. If his leaked info didn't come via a Qualcomm contact, perhaps a device partner talked about upcoming SC8480XP configurations behind closed doors somewhere in Taipei. Whatever the source, please add a touch of salt to these leaks until we hear directly from Qualcomm or a device partner. Since we've sailed by Computex without any official Snapdragon X2 Elite, or what might be called Snapdragon X2 Ultra Premium, news, we are most likely looking at the Snapdragon Summit 2025, in September, for Qualcomm to take the wraps off its next-gen processors. We will also hopefully see designs that Qualcomm's partners have come up with to sell these Windows-on-Arm devices to us. New Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 details leak, and there's a Classic surprise

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Quick Summary More information has leaked about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 range. That includes colour options and sizing information. When it comes to the wonderful world of smartwatches, Samsung is one of the most recognisable names out there. The brand has been producing killer devices for years, making its watches a top pick for millions of users. With another launch event expected to take place in July, rumours have already been swirling about the new watches in its lineup. That's the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 range, for reference, and is expected to include at least a base model and a Classic variant. Now, new information has emerged about the range, which could shed extra light on what to expect. The news comes from Roland Quandt at WinFuture – an online tipster with a solid track record when it comes to sharing details about upcoming products. The report suggests a Classic variant is coming, expected in two shades – white and black. It goes on to discuss the base model Galaxy Watch 8, which mentions graphite and silver colour options, and also comes in two sizes – 40mm and 44mm. The omission of any sizing information about the Classic variant has led some to suggest that the model will only be available in one size. There's certainly no guarantee of that, though it would make sense in context. Whether or not that ends up as a bad thing will really come down to sizing. On the whole, smartwatch brands tend to make use of some fairly large cases sizes, on account of the need for screen real estate. While that makes sense, it also makes them comically large, which can be a dealbreaker for certain wrists. It's tough to please everyone, but it's even harder when you're limiting the options on offer. Still, with more information expected in July, there isn't too long to wait for confirmation. We'll be keeping a close eye on the launch, as well as any further rumours emerging in the coming weeks.

Snapdragon X2 Elite leak points to a serious boost for laptops

A new rumor now hints that the upcoming Snapdragon X2 Elite chipset for laptops may support up to 64GB of RAM and feature up to 18 CPU cores. This, if true, would make it a more powerful and flexible offering for ARM-based consumer laptops. The new Snapdragon X2 Elite and X2 Plus processors are expected to get their official announcement during the Snapdragon Summit in September. Qualcomm is expected to announce its next-gen smartphone processor alongside them as well. Current ARM-powered laptops lack a bit in the memory department. However, today's leak, coming from reliable tipster Roland Quandt hints that the new Snapdragon X2 Elite may support more RAM. Currently, laptops powered by the Snapdragon X Elite are limited to 32GB of RAM. Reportedly, the X2 Elite may support up to 64GB of RAM, so you will have more config options to choose from. Roland Quandt's post on Bluesky. | Screenshot credit - PhoneArena Meanwhile, the company is said to be testing a variant of the X2 Elite with 18 CPU cores. Currently, the Snapdragon X Elite features 12 cores. Alongside the X2 Elite, there's also reportedly going to be an X2 Plus chip, which will be the successor of the Snapdragon X Plus. It is also said to be announced during the Snapdragon Summit in September, alongside the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for smartphones. ARM-powered laptops are becoming more and more popular. Their popularity started to rise when Apple decided to abandon the Intel x86 chips in favor of its own Apple Silicon, which is ARM-powered. Even before that though, Qualcomm has made ARM-powered processors for Microsoft Surface computers. But the Snapdragon X chips are the real deal by Qualcomm. Companies like Lenovo, HP, and Acer now have Snapdragon X-powered laptops on the market. ARM-based chipsets are smaller and thus allow for laptops to be made lighter. And yep, this is very important when we're talking laptops, which came with the idea of portability. Also, these chips mostly don't require a fan, so laptops can also be quieter. But that's not all! These chips are more gentle on battery life, another important aspect when we talk laptops.

Even more key Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE details are now out of the bag

Even though we still don't have an official launch date for Samsung's next big Android-powered foldables, the start of the company's buzz-building campaign certainly suggests the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Flip 7 FE, Z Fold 7 , and possibly, Z Fold 7 Ultra are right around the corner. As such, it shouldn't come as a surprise that more and more tipsters feel confident in predicting more and more details about three of those fast-approaching devices... after their designs have already been leaked in trustworthy factory CAD-based renders and even a wild real-life photograph. Galaxy Z Fold 7 : 12GB RAM + 256GB storage; 12 + 512GB; 16GB + 1TB; : 12GB RAM + 256GB storage; 12 + 512GB; 16GB + 1TB; Galaxy Z Flip 7 : 8GB RAM + 128GB storage; 12 + 256GB; 12 + 512GB; : 8GB RAM + 128GB storage; 12 + 256GB; 12 + 512GB; Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage; 8 + 256GB. Wait, wasn't all this information revealed just yesterday? Not exactly. Arsène Lupin, aka @MysteryLupin, actually adds to the details leaked by WinFuture's Roland Quandt, thus providing a more complete picture of Samsung's 2025 foldable portfolio (minus the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra, which may or may not be a real thing). The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to start with an underwhelming 8GB RAM count. The most important tidbit disclosed today that wasn't included in yesterday's report is how much RAM the Z Fold 7 , Z Flip 7 , and Z Flip 7 FE are set to pack in each storage configuration. Interestingly, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will apparently be equipped with a hefty 16 gigs of memory in a top-of-the-line 1TB storage variant. That's especially notable because the most advanced (and the most expensive) Galaxy Z Fold 6 model only comes with 12GB RAM. Then again, Google's Pixel 9 Pro Fold offers a whopping 16 gigs of the good stuff in combination with as little as 256GB internal storage space, so clearly, Samsung can do even better than this if it wants to claim the best foldable trophy. The Z Flip 7 , meanwhile, is very curiously tipped to downgrade its predecessor's 12GB RAM to just 8 gigs for an entry-level 128GB storage variant while keeping the memory count of the Z Flip 6's two other configurations unchanged. That's likely to be a cost-cutting measure on Samsung's part, especially if the company aims to price the Galaxy Z Flip 7 at the same starting level as last year's Z Flip 6 , but it remains to be seen if customers will understand and accept the compromise. Speaking of compromises, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is expected to stick to 8GB RAM in both 128 and 256GB storage variants, which is both completely unsurprising and totally fine... as long as Samsung gets the Fan Edition pricing right. Galaxy Z Fold 7 : Silver Shadow, Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red; : Silver Shadow, Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red; Galaxy Z Flip 7 : Blue Shadow, White Black; : Blue Shadow, White Black; Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Black, White. The most exciting thing here is without a doubt the very swanky-sounding Coral Red-coated Z Fold 7 model, which should perfectly match the Coral Red Z Flip 7 flavor rumored yesterday. The first-of-a-kind Z Flip 7 FE could come in just two (rather boring) color options. Unfortunately (and unsurprisingly), the Z Flip 7 FE is unlikely to join its pricier sibling and cousin in adopting such a flashy hue, instead playing things safe with black and white colorways, at least based on existing information from two different and equally reliable insiders. Circling back to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 , it must be highlighted that its silver (shadow), blue (shadow), and (jet) black paint jobs are now also "confirmed" from two sources, unlike the aforementioned (coral) red color. Interestingly, the Z Flip 7 is rumored to come in a "White Black" version rather than separate white and black models, which could be an innocent typo... or a suggestion of a decidedly unconventional two-tone design that Samsung has experimented with in the past. The blue (shadow) colorway is practically etched in stone, and if history is any indication, many more paint jobs will be confirmed in the coming weeks (for both the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 ).
