Golmaal 5 Plot Finalised, Rohit Shetty–Ajay Devgn To Collaborate For 14th Time

Last Updated: Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn are set for their 14th collaboration with Golmaal 5, slated to begin filming in early 2026. If laughter truly is the best medicine, then Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn are the long-time chemists of Bollywood. The duo is reportedly back at it again with Golmaal 5. According to a Pinkvilla report, the fifth installment of the Golmaal franchise is all set to roll out in early 2026. But before that, Shetty is busy wrapping up the Rakesh Maria biopic starring John Abraham, which is scheduled to be completed by September 2025. 'Rohit Shetty is presently shooting for the Rakesh Maria biopic with John Abraham in Mumbai. The film will be wrapped up by September 2025, and the filmmaker is aiming to lock the edit by the end of this year, for an early 2026 release. Right after completing work on the Rakesh Maria Biopic, Rohit moves on to the prep of Golmaal FIVE, and take it on floors by February/March 2026," the portal quoted a source as saying. And that's not all. Apparently, the storyline for Golmaal 5 is already in place. A new team of writers is currently working on fine-tuning the script, which is expected to be locked by September 2025. Devgn will, of course, be back leading the pack of the famously dysfunctional Golmaal gang—Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Kemmu, Shreyas Talpade, and the legendary Johnny Lever. Rohit Shetty had confirmed Golmaal 5 in November 2024. Rohit Shetty shared that he intends to return to Golmaal's light-hearted world before diving back into intense action. 'I think before any cop film for sure, Golmaal will be the next," Shetty had revealed. For Shetty, shifting genres feels refreshing. He described working on a comedy like Golmaal after an intense project like Singham as a 'detox." 'I look forward to making Golmaal after a big project like Singham. It's lighter and happier, and I'm not as worried," he said. The Golmaal series kicked off way back in 2006 with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited and has since delivered three more laugh riots, with the last one, Golmaal Again, releasing in 2017. First Published:

Tears don't just reveal your emotions. New tear test kit can detect several diseases too

Byline: Mini P Thomas Just a few teardrops can reveal volumes about a range of medical conditions, from cancer to Alzheimer's disease and retinopathies. India has been developing its own tear-based point-of-care diagnostic kit at GROW Research Laboratory in Narayana Nethralaya, Bengaluru, for which clinical trials are on. Dr Rohit Shetty, director of Narayana Nethralaya and GROW Research Laboratory, tells Mini P Thomas how tears can revolutionise healthcare. What makes tears a potential diagnostic tool? A lot of inflammatory changes happen in the eyes and the body before the onset of diseases and tear analysis can pick them up. Tears can serve as an early warning system, making them an excellent tool for early diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and many other inflammatory diseases even before changes manifest in the bones. Moreover, tear-based tests are non-invasive and less expensive than conventional diagnostic tests. How do you do tear tests, and when will they be available in the market? The most straightforward method of collecting tears is by using small pieces of sterile paper. The tear analysis results arrive at your clinic within 90 minutes of collection. We are now in the last leg of certification from the government. And we are hoping that by Feb 2026, the tear-based kits will be commercially available. Besides RA, what other diseases can tear fluid detect? Currently, there are no routine predictive markers available for Alzheimer's other than changes seen in an MRI. By the time those changes manifest, it's too late. But we have successfully identified a protein in tears called Tau, which is very specific to Alzheimer's disease. Early detection of these proteins could be crucial to prevent irreversible brain damage. We are currently collaborating with neurologists to explore how tear analysis might help in early detection and prevention. We have also done some work on breast cancer and genital, urinary and ovarian cancers using tear samples, where we looked at whether increase in certain secondary factors has a role in early prediction. Tear analysis can play a key role in the management of dry eyes and diabetes as well. Myopia or shortsightedness has reached epidemic proportions in India. Diagnostic tools using tear samples show potential for detecting children prone to myopia. How can the teardrop analysis technique prevent myopia in children? The global rise in myopia cases has become a significant health concern. Tear analysis can detect dopamine levels in tears, which aids in myopia prediction. Children with reduced tear dopamine, a neurotransmitter in the brain, can benefit from sunlight exposure, potentially lowering their myopia risk. Parents should encourage their kids to spend at least two hours outdoors every day to significantly reduce their risk of myopia. Studies indicate that elevated dopamine concentrations contribute to better management of myopia. Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is one of the most common causes of blindness in preterm babies. Through tear analysis, we can identify babies who are likely to have ROP by detecting certain biomarkers in their tears, which tell us which of these infants will go into a progression. This could be a fantastic community-based project in the future. What about dry eyes, also a significant health concern in India? It is estimated that by 2030, one in two urban Indians will be affected by dry eye disease, which could affect their quality of life and work efficiency. Often, non-specific medications are prescribed for dry eyes which fail to address the actual immunological changes, leaving the condition untreated. Now, we can detect elevated immuno-inflammatory markers using tear samples and target them with specific eye drops, offering personalised and customised treatment. Analysis of tear biomarkers enables swift diagnosis, targeted and personalised treatment, and promotes faster recovery. This results in reduced medical expenses and quicker relief for patients. When Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty spoke about Bollywood's class divide

and are one of the most successful actor-director duos in Hindi cinema. Out of Rohit Shetty's 14 films, 12 starred Ajay. These include all four movies from the comedy series 'Golmaal' and the four films in the cop universe, starting with 'Singham' in 2011 and going up to 'Sooryavanshi' in 2021. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In 2014, before the release of Singham Returns, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty spoke about the class divide in the Hindi film industry during a promotional interview with Film Companion. They referred to a message Ajay had sent to Rohit back in 2011 on Karan Johar's chat show Koffee With Karan, where he said:"I am so happy that people who abused your kind of movies want to work with you now", the actor and the filmmaker were asked if a class divide exists within Bollywood. The Tanhaji star, Ajay Devgn, said he personally hadn't faced the issue but had heard people call Golmaal 'trash cinema.' He pointed out the irony that those same people later approached Rohit Shetty to direct films for them, realizing that they needed such so-called 'trash cinema' to stay relevant in the industry. Rohit Shetty, who also hosts the popular reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi, said he has no ego or arrogance about his work and believes he's simply making films for his audience. He shared that many people have now come around, saying he's not doing anything wrong or harmful. Referring to the earlier criticism from the elite crowd, Rohit humorously compared himself to Amitabh Bachchan's 'bad guy' character from Deewar (1975), calling the critics Nirupa Roy and the elite Shashi Kapoor. He concluded by saying he's happy being Amitabh—the so-called bad guy—at the end of the day. In November last year, Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi revived the Indian box office, earning nearly ₹200 crores after theatres reopened nationwide following a two-year Covid-19 lockdown. Rohit and Ajay have also hinted at the next film in their cop universe, Singham 3, though an official announcement is still awaited. Rohit Shetty
