Let there be rock: AC/DC tipped to play Perth on Power Up world tour in December
Ten years after they last shook Perth, Australian rock legends AC/DC are due to hit town for at least one stadium date later this year. The band's previous visit was in November 2015, when Angus Young and co. performed two massive gigs at Domain Stadium in Subiaco as part of their Rock or Bust world tour. It's understood that AC/DC will play at least one concert on their global trek on latest chart-topping album, 2020's Power Up, at Optus Stadium in December, with a second show dependent on ticket sales. The visit is expected to be confirmed next week. Starring guitar god Young and long-serving UK singer Brian Johnson, AC/DC has been on the road for more than a year. The rest of the current touring line-up features Stevie Young, who replaced his late uncle Malcolm on guitar in 2014, plus the American rhythm section of bassist Chris Chaney and drummer Matt Laug. The Power Up tour kicked off in Germany on May 17 2024 and saw the rock icons responsible for classics such as Back in Black, Thunderstruck and Let There Be Rock perform throughout Europe. AC/DC completed 12 North American dates in late May are poised to begin another run of European stadium shows, kicking off in Prague on June 26. The band's last scheduled concert is in Edinburgh on August 21. AC/DC sold more than 520,000 tickets on the 11-date Australasian leg of the Rock or Bust tour, while they flogged 750,000 seats during the record-breaking Black Ice visit in 2009. Melbourne-based Van Egmond Group, part of TEG Group since 2020, promoted both of those tours and is expected to bring the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Down Under again. Their 17th studio album, Power Up became AC/DC's sixth to top the ARIA Albums chart when it was released in 2020. AC/DC and the Bee Gees are the only groups inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and ARIA Hall of Fame. The Aussie rock gods are not the only big name tipped to play Optus Stadium, with a high profile pop act pencilled in for February. Fans of Beyonce will hope the US superstar hits Perth on her Cowboy Carter stadium tour, which began in Los Angeles in late April and is currently in France before another run of North American shows. Global touring giant Live Nation is promoting Beyonce's tour. TEG Group, Live Nation and Optus Stadium operators VenuesLive have been contacted for comment.

Veteran rocker, 90, shockingly turns down Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction
In a surprising move, legendary bassist and session musician Carol Kaye, aged 90, has declined to participate in her 2025 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She claims the honour fails to reflect the collective spirit and behind-the-scenes artistry of the studio musicians who helped shape the sound of modern music. Kaye, whose staggering career includes an estimated 10,000 recording sessions with artists like The Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, and Frank Zappa, was selected this year in the Musical Excellence category. But in a candid Facebook post earlier this week, she announced she won't be attending the ceremony or accepting the accolade. 'NO I won't be there,' Kaye wrote. 'I am declining the RRHOF awards show … turning it down because it wasn't something that reflects the work that studio musicians do and did in the golden era of the 1960s recording hits.' Kaye's decision is distinctly political, a pointed critique of an industry that has long celebrated frontmen and solo acts while often ignoring the unsung people behind the curtain. In her post, Kaye emphasised that the era's music was made by a massive, collaborative effort, hundreds of skilled musicians working as a tight unit in Hollywood's studio scene. 'You are always part of a TEAM, not a solo artist at all,' she wrote. \There were always 350–400 studio musicians (AFM Local 47 Hollywood) working in the busy 1960s… Since 1930s, I was never a 'wrecker' at all — that's a terrible insulting name.' The 'wrecker' reference touches on another sore point for Kaye. She has long bristled at the posthumous branding of her peers as The Wrecking Crew, which was a label popularized by drummer Hal Blaine and later immortalized in a 2008 documentary directed by Denny Tedesco, which Kaye has also distanced herself from. Kaye's path to icon status was unconventional. A self-described jazz guitarist in the 1950s, she was roped into session work by Bumps Blackwell in 1957 and fell into bass playing by accident in 1963 when a scheduled player didn't show up. 'I never played bass in my life' she wrote. 'But being an experienced recording guitarist, it was plain to see that three bass players hired to play 'dum-de-dum' on record dates wasn't getting it. It was easy for me to invent good bass lines.' More Trending That spontaneous switch marked the beginning of one of the most prolific and creative bass careers in popular music. Her Facebook post closed with a graceful but firm rejection of what she sees as a flawed system of recognition. 'I refuse to be part of a process that is something else rather than what I believe in, for others' benefit and not reflecting on the truth,' she wrote. 'We all enjoyed working with EACH OTHER. Thank you for understanding.' Got a story? Carol Kaye is 'declining' her invitation to the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony
Carol Kaye is 'declining' her invitation to the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony Show Caption Hide Caption 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees announced The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2025 inductees, which include hip-hop pioneers Outkast and '80s icon Cyndi Lauper. unbranded - Entertainment Carol Kaye, one of the most recorded bassists in rock and pop music, announced on June 18 that she will be declining her invitation to this year's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. 'People have been asking: NO I won't be there,' wrote the 90-year-old musician in a since-deleted Facebook post. 'I am declining the RRHOF awards show (and Denny Tedesco process)... because it wasn't something that reflects the work that Studio Musicians do and did in the golden era of the 1960s Recording Hits.' During the 1960s and 1970s, Kaye was part of a group of session musicians in Los Angeles known as the Wrecking Crew, a collective which often collaborated with the Beach Boys, Phil Spector, the Monkees and more. In 2008, Denny Tedesco directed a documentary on the group, which featured Kaye. However, the 90-year-old musician has long objected to the group moniker. In a 2015 interview, Kaye said the 'first time that phrase was used' was in Hal Blaine's book. 'I had no idea he was going to do something phoney… It's a lie. We were all independent people, there was no set band,' she said. Hal Blaime, a 'Wrecking Crew' drummer, said in the same interview that Kaye had 'somehow forgotten' that 'The Wrecking Crew was established in the early 1960s.' 'I was never a 'wrecker' at all,' she wrote in her recent Facebook post. 'That's a terrible insulting name.' Kaye ended her post with a strong dissent, 'I refuse to be part of a process that is something else rather than what I believe in, for others' benefit and not reflecting on the truth – we all enjoyed working with EACH OTHER.' Kaye will still be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame despite her absence at the 2025 induction ceremony, where she was set to recieve the Musical Excellence Award. Other inductees this year include Bad Company, Joe Cocker, Chubby Checker, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes. The complete list: 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees

Bruce Springsteen Movie Cast Vs. Real People Jeremy Allen White
Do you love all things TV and movies? Subscribe to the Screen Time newsletter to get your weekly dose of what to watch next and what everyone is flailing over from someone who watches everything! We have another biopic about a famous musician coming, and this time it's about Bruce Springsteen. Springsteen, nicknamed "the Boss," is considered one of the most influential musicians in American rock. His career has spanned six decades, with a majority of his albums featuring the iconic E Street Band. After releasing his first two albums, he achieved worldwide popularity with Born to Run in 1975, and then again with Born in the U.S.A. in 1984. Springsteen has won 20 Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes, an Academy Award, and a Special Tony Award. He's also been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. And in 2010, Rolling Stone ranked him No. 23 on their "100 Greatest Artists of All Time" list, saying, "In many ways, Bruce Springsteen is the embodiment of rock & roll." So now, it seems like the only other thing that needs to be checked off the list is a biopic about his life and how he changed music forever. Directed and written by Scott Cooper, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere will chronicle Springsteen's time making his 1982 album Nebraska, an album that was recorded in his New Jersey bedroom, and marked a pivotal time in his career before he was launched into global superstardom. Cooper is best known for his Academy Award-nominated work on 2009's Crazy Heart starring Jeff Bridges. Speaking about Deliver Me From Nowhere, Springsteen told Variety, "They pitched the idea, and I said, 'It sounds like fun.' It's an interesting concept, because it's only a couple of years out of my life. It's '81, '82, and centered around the creation of that particular record while I was simultaneously recording Born in the USA and also going through some personal difficulties that I've been living with my whole life. But it's fantastic." The film stars Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen and Jeremy Strong as Jon Landau, Springsteen's manager and record producer. It also stars Paul Walter Hauser, Odessa Young, Stephen Graham, Gaby Hoffmann, Marc Maron, David Krumholtz, Johnny Cannizzaro, and more. Teasing Jeremy Allen White's performance, Springsteen told SiriusXM, "He sings well. He sings very well." He also added, "Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it. He's got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize, and he's just done a great job, so I've had a lot of fun. I've had a lot of fun being on the set when I can get there." And this takes us to now, when 20th Century Studios released the first trailer for Deliver Me From Nowhere, and we get to see Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen for the first time. Here's a side-by-side from the trailer of Jeremy performing "Born to Run, which was released in 1975, vs. Springsteen himself around the same time: Of course, Jeremy is best known for his work in Shameless as Lip Gallagher and for his Emmy Award-winning turn as Carmy in The Bear. He also received critical-aclaim for his work in The Iron Claw. And here's another side-by-side of Jeremy and Springsteen: The trailer also gave us a first look at Jeremy Strong as Jon Landau, who was Springsteen's longtime manager and producer. In fact, he's credited with writing in a 1974 article for The Real Paper, per the New York Times, "I saw rock and roll's future and its name is Bruce Springsteen!" Of course, Jeremy is best known for his Emmy Award-winning work as Kendall Roy in Succession. He also recently earned his first Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Roy Cohn in The Apprentice. Here's Odessa Young as Faye, who stars as Springsteen's love interest in Deliver Me From Nowhere. She's an Australian actor who is best known for starring in films like Looking for Grace and The Daughter, and the 2022 limited series The Staircase. Next up, she'll be seen in the Netflix series, Black Rabbit, alongside Jason Bateman and Jude Law. Paul Walter Hauser stars as Mike Batlan, Springsteen's recording engineer during the Nebraska sessions. He was also Springsteen's guitar tech. Paul is best known for his work in movies like I, Tonya and Cruella. He also starred in Cobra Kai and won an Emmy Award in 2024 for his work in the limited series Black Bird. Here's Stephen Graham as Douglas Springsteen, Bruce's father. Stephen is best known for his work in shows like Boardwalk Empire, Peaky Blinders, and most recently Adolescence. He also appeared in movies like Gangs of New York, The Irishman, This Is England, and more. Here's Gaby Hoffmann as Adele Springsteen, Bruce's mother. Previously, Gaby has starred in shows like Girls and Transparent, and she's known for her work as a child actor, having appeared in movies like Field of Dreams, Uncle Buck, Now and Then, Sleepless in Seattle, and more. And while you don't get a super clear shot of him in the trailer, Johnny Cannizzaro is set to star as Steven Van Zandt, aka Little Steven, who is a member of Springsteen's E Street Band. Johnny is best known for starring as Nick DeVito in the film adaptation of Jersey Boys. Well, that's all we have so far! I'm personally excited to see Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen, and I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot about this movie when awards season rolls around, too. Fleetwood Mac's Hit Song Is Back — But It Was Somehow Never A Single
Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain' reenters Billboard's Rock Streaming Songs chart and the Billboard Global ... More 200 as 'Dreams' climbs to No. 3 on the rock tally. NEW YORK, UNITED STATES: Members of the British rock group Fleetwood Mac (from left) John McVie, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, Mick Fleetwood and Lindsay Buckingham appear together after receiving their awards and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 12 January in New York. The thirteenth annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction dinner also honored Santana, The Eagles, The Mamas and Papas, Lloyd Price and Gene Vincent. AFP PHOTO (Photo credit should read JON LEVY/AFP via Getty Images) Fleetwood Mac typically performs well on the Billboard charts every frame thanks in large part to its album Rumours. To a lesser extent, the group's Greatest Hits compilation also keeps the rockers somewhere on the weekly lists. From time to time, one or two tunes featured in the Grammy-winning act's discography manage to find space as well — and at the moment, a pair of cuts are charting once again as one begins a comeback. 'The Chain' — long regarded as one of Fleetwood Mac's most popular compositions — breaks back onto the Rock Streaming Songs tally at No. 23 this week. It also narrowly manages to find space on the Billboard Global 200, the worldwide ranking of the most-consumed tracks, where it settles at No. 195. 'The Chain' has only appeared on the Billboard Global 200 for four nonconsecutive weeks throughout the half-decade the tally has been compiled. Its lifespan on the Rock Streaming Songs list is far more impressive. The Fleetwood Mac tune has now racked up 85 appearances somewhere on the ranking of the most-played rock tracks on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and iHeartRadio, where it stands as one of the group's top 10 wins on that roster. Fleetwood Mac scores a pair of hit tracks in the U.S. this week, as 'The Chain' joins 'Dreams' on both the Rock Streaming Songs list and the Billboard Global 200. 'Dreams' is rising across all the tallies it appears on, inching closer to the summit on the rock ranking, where it pushes to No. 3. The same tune can also be found on both the Streaming Songs tally and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. at the same time. The latter roster removes all sales and streaming activity from the United States to show what the rest of the world is listening to. Both 'Dreams' and 'The Chain' were originally featured on Fleetwood Mac's masterpiece Rumours. While 'Dreams' was selected as a proper single, 'The Chain' never earned that status – but that hasn't stopped it from becoming a certified classic, and one of the band's most beloved songs.
