Ozzy Osbourne's DNA sold in empty iced tea cans for US$450

Empty iced tea cans said to contain the DNA of Ozzy Osbourne are shown in an image from company Liquid Death. Empty cans containing the DNA of an aging rockstar were so popular, despite their US$450 price tag, they appear to be sold out. Ten cans containing genetic material from Ozzy Osbourne were sold as part of a promotion by American canned water company Liquid Death. 'Ozzy Osbourne is 1 of 1,' the company wrote in an online advertisement. 'But we're selling his actual DNA so you can recycle him forever.' A cheeky ad said Osbourne drank from the cans of low-calorie iced tea, leaving behind trace DNA from his saliva. His signature was used for a sticker placed on a clear container holding each can, which reads 'Official DNA sample,' along with a number and date of collection. It appears the unusual product was popular with fans of the 73-year-old frontman for heavy metal band Black Sabbath. For those less familiar with his music, Osbourne is also known for his appearances on reality TV shows featuring his family members, and for biting the head off a live bat on stage. (AP Photo/Ashley Landis) On Wednesday morning, Liquid Death's website showed the product was listed for US$450 (about C$615) but is sold out. Liquid Death offered potential uses for the DNA in the ad. 'Now, once technology and federal law permit, you can replicate Ozzy and enjoy him for hundreds of years into the future,' the ad voiceover says over photos of smiling seniors and children. 'Just imagine if you could bring back early '80s Ozzy.' The company suggests, for example, performing at kids' birthday parties, showing an actor dressed as Osbourne putting the head of a plastic bat in his mouth as children scream. The ad then assures viewers that 'this is not a joke.' Nicknamed the 'Prince of Darkness' in the 1970s, John Michael Osbourne was ranked by Rolling Stone as among the '200 Greatest Singers of All Time.' Earlier this month, Black Sabbath announced Osbourne's final gig as the band's lead singer will be streamed worldwide on July 5, after the show sold out in about 15 minutes. Osbourne announced in 2020 that he has Parkinson's, which led to a pause in touring with the band that has sold more than 75 million albums. The singer has made headlines since he announced he was leaving the U.S. due to gun violence and when a spinal injury led to the cancellation of his 2023 tour dates. Fleetwood Mac's Massive Song Is Back — But It Was Somehow Never A Single

Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain' reenters Billboard's Rock Streaming Songs chart and the Billboard Global ... More 200 as 'Dreams' climbs to No. 3 on the rock tally. NEW YORK, UNITED STATES: Members of the British rock group Fleetwood Mac (from left) John McVie, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, Mick Fleetwood and Lindsay Buckingham appear together after receiving their awards and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 12 January in New York. The thirteenth annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction dinner also honored Santana, The Eagles, The Mamas and Papas, Lloyd Price and Gene Vincent. AFP PHOTO (Photo credit should read JON LEVY/AFP via Getty Images) Fleetwood Mac typically performs well on the Billboard charts every frame thanks in large part to its album Rumours. To a lesser extent, the group's Greatest Hits compilation also keeps the rockers somewhere on the weekly lists. From time to time, one or two tunes featured in the Grammy-winning act's discography manage to find space as well — and at the moment, a pair of cuts are charting once again as one begins a comeback. 'The Chain' — long regarded as one of Fleetwood Mac's most popular compositions — breaks back onto the Rock Streaming Songs tally at No. 23 this week. It also narrowly manages to find space on the Billboard Global 200, the worldwide ranking of the most-consumed tracks, where it settles at No. 195. 'The Chain' has only appeared on the Billboard Global 200 for four nonconsecutive weeks throughout the half-decade the tally has been compiled. Its lifespan on the Rock Streaming Songs list is far more impressive. The Fleetwood Mac tune has now racked up 85 appearances somewhere on the ranking of the most-played rock tracks on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and iHeartRadio, where it stands as one of the group's top 10 wins on that roster. Fleetwood Mac scores a pair of hit tracks in the U.S. this week, as 'The Chain' joins 'Dreams' on both the Rock Streaming Songs list and the Billboard Global 200. 'Dreams' is rising across all the tallies it appears on, inching closer to the summit on the rock ranking, where it pushes to No. 3. The same tune can also be found on both the Streaming Songs tally and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. at the same time. The latter roster removes all sales and streaming activity from the United States to show what the rest of the world is listening to. Both 'Dreams' and 'The Chain' were originally featured on Fleetwood Mac's masterpiece Rumours. While 'Dreams' was selected as a proper single, 'The Chain' never earned that status – but that hasn't stopped it from becoming a certified classic, and one of the band's most beloved songs.

The Beach Boys Almost Hit No. 1 For The First Time Following Brian Wilson's Death

Following Brian Wilson's passing, The Beach Boys score initial top 10 hits on Billboard's Rock ... More Digital Song Sales chart with 'God Only Knows' and "Good Vibrations." (Photo by Gems/Redferns/Getty Images) The Beach Boys are remembered as one of the most successful pop groups of all time, but in some circles, the music the group created has long been classified as rock. That was certainly the case when the outfit first emerged — and it still is today in some respects. The band's music has always straddled the line between pop and rock, and that genre-blurring blend is evident on the Billboard rankings this week. As fans across the United States pay tribute to songwriter and producer Brian Wilson following his passing, The Beach Boys land on one rock tally with multiple cuts. The group nearly secures its debut No. 1 on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart this frame, as "God Only Knows" launches at No. 2 on Billboard's list of the bestselling tracks in the U.S. that fall under the rock genre. The band is only kept from the summit by Oliver Anthony Music's "Scornful Woman," which starts its time on the tally in first place. The Beach Boys collect two top 10 hits on the Rock Digital Song Sales ranking this frame, appearing inside the highest tier for the first time. "God Only Knows" debuts at No. 2, while "Good Vibrations" kicks off in fifth place. Two other cuts by The Beach Boys also reach the Rock Digital Song Sales list. At the moment, the legendary act fills more than a quarter of all available spots on the tally. Coming in behind "God Only Knows" and "Good Vibrations" are "Surfin' U.S.A." and "Sloop John B," which start at Nos. 12 and 13, respectively. The Rock Digital Song Sales chart didn't exist when The Beach Boys first broke out and earned many of the band's biggest wins that are still remembered to this day. This week, the celebrated musical act earns its first four placements on the tally. One additional track by The Beach Boys debuts on a Billboard chart, though not the rock-specific list. "Wouldn't It Be Nice" only makes it to the Digital Song Sales tally, which is not limited by genre. That track opens at No. 18, coming in behind "God Only Knows," which appears at No. 7 on that roster.

2000s US rockers spark controversy after banning Donald Trump voters from their latest tour

The lead singer of 2000s US rockers The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus has sparked controversy after banning Trump supporters from attending the band's shows. Frontman Ronnie Winter made the declaration in a video posted to his band's official Instagram page over the weekend, eliciting a mixed reaction from some of the rocker's fans on social media. 'If you voted for Donald Trump, do not come to my shows — forever, not just like these four years,' he said passionately. He then went on to call out Christian Trump supporters, ranting: 'If you're Christian and you voted for Donald Trump, shame on you. You are not allowed to come to my shows. I don't want you there. Don't come to my shows.' Winter continued: 'Do not come to my shows because you're going to hear a lot of propaganda, and you're going to hear like the actual words of Jesus.' 'You're going to see a lot of acceptance from all areas of life and races, and um, you're just going to see a lot of harmony, OK? That's not what you're about, OK? Don't come. Refunds are available. Forever, don't come. Goodbye.' 'It's awesome that you love Face Down, but it's not for you. It's not your song, OK? It is not your song,' he added, mentioning the band's most successful song that hit the charts back in 2006. While numerous fans supported the star's views, Winter comments were soon inundated with comments from Trump voters, with one replying: 'Poor baby doesn't want people to come to his show that voted for trump. Did your wittle feewings get hurt? Dawww, don't worry, nobody wants to see a one hit wonder anyway!' Another commented: 'When is the next show out West? Can't wait to be there with all my Maga buddies.' 'No one's goes to your shows anyway dude so I don't think you have to worry about Trump supporters coming bud,' sneered another. Elsewhere during his social media rant, Winter lashed out at fans who have criticised his liberal beliefs, insisting that being 'woke' just means 'being awake'. 'Look man, the thing about being woke is you're awake, and once you're awake you can never go to sleep,' he said. 'Not only has nothing changed, but everything they said was going to happen – the woke people – has happened. You have done nothing but prove them right.' Winter is the latest in a long line of musicians who are speaking up against Donald Trump as tensions continue to rise in the US in recent months, and in Los Angles over the last week. Winter joins a growing list of musicians who have spoken out against Trump's second term. Bruce Springsteen lashed out at Trump during his latest tour that's been marred by illness. 'In my home, the America I love, the America I've written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration,' Springsteen told a sellout crowd last moth.
