ACC quarterback headed to HBCU program
Former ACC quarterback Jack Brandon is headed to the HBCU ranks. The 6-foot-3, 209-pound passer spent the last four seasons at Boston College. He has now committed to Tennessee State University as the Tigers begin a new era under head coach Reggie Barlow. Brandon brings Power Five experience to an HBCU program fresh off a 9-4 season and a share of the OVC/Big South championship. Brandon never saw game action during his ACC career. Still, he showed promise at Cheshire Academy, where he threw for over 3,000 yards and 36 touchdowns. He also played basketball and baseball, showing his all-around athleticism. His move from the ACC to an HBCU highlights the talent shift happening across college football. Tennessee State is undergoing big changes. Former head coach Eddie George led the Tigers to the FCS playoffs before leaving for Bowling Green. Reggie Barlow now takes over after a strong run with Alabama State and the XFL's DC Defenders. Brandon gives the staff a quarterback with size, arm talent, and leadership. The addition of an ACC quarterback helps boost Tennessee State's HBCU resurgence. It also signals that HBCU football is attracting talent from top conferences. Brandon's presence could help stabilize the offense during the coaching transition. Tennessee State has an unknown outlook heading into 2025. As the team adjusts to a new system, Brandon will have the chance to lead the way. His move from the ACC to an HBCU is one many players are making these days, including a player for Tennessee State's first opponent. Fans and scouts will watch closely to see how he performs. Brandon's development could be key to another strong run in the OVC/Big South. The post ACC quarterback headed to HBCU program appeared first on HBCU Gameday. Copyright HBCU Gameday 2012-2025

UFL schedule Week 2: What games are on today? TV channel, live stream, more
UFL schedule Week 2: What games are on today? TV channel, live stream, more Show Caption Hide Caption Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on Green Bay hosting 2025 NFL draft Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said it's "neat" Green Bay is hosting the 2025 NFL draft, but his focus is fully on the Packers' draft planning. Sports Illustrated - Green Bay Packers The first week of the 2025 UFL season has come and gone, and there were some early surprises in the spring league's second season. Namely, the DC Defenders upset the Birmingham Stallions just a week after DC's coach, Reggie Barlow, left the team to take the head coaching job at Tennessee State. Interim coach Shannon Harris' team put together a dominant defensive performance in the 18-11 win and positioned the Defenders as one of the eight-team league's top contenders. The three preceding UFL games weren't as close. All were decided by margins of 14 points or more. What will Week 2 of the UFL season bring? Teams are still looking to establish their identities while the Defenders and Memphis Showboats will continue to operate without Barlow and Ken Whisenhunt, who left their coaching positions on eve of the season. Here's what to know about the UFL's Week 2 schedule and how to watch all four matchups. UFL schedule Week 2: What games are on today? The UFL's second week will follow the same structure as its first. One game will be played on Friday, one on Saturday and two on Sunday. Below are the full details of the UFL's Week 2 schedule. (All times Eastern.) Friday, April 5 Birmingham Stallions at Michigan Panthers, 8 p.m., Fox Saturday, April 6 Memphis Showboats at DC Defenders, 8 p.m., ABC/ESPN+ Sunday, April 7 Houston Roughnecks at Arlington Renegades, 12 p.m., ESPN/ESPN+ San Antonio Brahmas at St. Louis Battlehawks, 6:30 p.m., FS1 UFL SCHEDULE 2025: Dates, times, TV channel, more for every spring football game Friday UFL game time, TV channel, live stream Birmingham Stallions (0-1) at Michigan Panthers (1-0) Start time : 8 p.m. ET : 8 p.m. ET TV channel : Fox : Fox Live stream: Fubo The Panthers are set to host the Stallions at Ford Field in Detroit in a contest that could determine early control of the USFL conference. Michigan is coming off a strong defensive showing in its 26-12 Week 1 win over Memphis and should be eying a similarly strong performance against Birmingham. The Stallions defense played well in its 18-11 loss to the Defenders, but their offense struggled badly after halftime. Alex McGough failed to complete a pass during the second-half shutout and was sacked a whopping seven times by DC's relentless pressure. If Breeland Speaks and the Panthers pass rush can similarly tee off against McGough and Co., Michigan may have a shot to send Birmingham to back-to-back losses for the first time in franchise history. Saturday UFL game time, TV channel, live stream Memphis Showboats (0-1) at DC Defenders (1-0) Start time : 8 p.m. ET : 8 p.m. ET TV channel : ABC : ABC Live stream: Fubo, ESPN+ The Defenders are coming off their first-ever win against the three-time reigning spring champion Stallions. They need to make sure they don't suffer a letdown against a Showboats team that generated just 12 points in their Week 1 loss to the Panthers. DC's defense carried the team to victory in Week 1, but Jordan Ta'amu held his own in a tough matchup, leading the UFL with 211 passing yards. He completed just 17 of 37 passes but could increase his efficiency in a more favorable matchup at Audi Field. UFL CONTRACTS: Players to open season without CBA, appeal to 'The Rock' for help Sunday UFL game times, TV channels, live streams Houston Roughnecks (0-1) at Arlington Renegades (1-0) Start time : Noon ET : Noon ET TV channel : ESPN : ESPN Live stream: Fubo, ESPN+ The Roughnecks and Renegades are coming off polar-opposite performances in Week 1. Houston was crushed 31-6 by St. Louis in the season opener while Arlington scored a league-high 33 points in its 33-9 takedown of San Antonio. The Renegades surely have the advantage in this contest. Their Kalen Ballage and De'Veon Smith-led running attack should allow them to run roughshod on a Roughnecks defense that surrendered 273 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns in the season opener. Houston is also dealing with questions about whether Anthony Brown or Nolan Henderson will start at quarterback. Meanwhile, Arlington's starter Luis Perez is entrenched as one of the best signal-callers in the spring league. San Antonio Brahmas (0-1) at St. Louis Battlehawks (1-0) Start time : 6:30 p.m. ET : 6:30 p.m. ET TV channel : FS1 : FS1 Live stream: Fubo The Brahmas vs. Battlehawks matchup profiles similarly to the Roughnecks vs. Renegades contest. The Brahmas lost their season opener by 24 points while the Battlehawks won theirs by 25 behind an efficient outing from quarterback Manny Wilkins (17 of 22 passing, 189 yards) and a strong rushing performance from Jacob Saylors and Jarveon Howard (213 yards and two touchdowns combined on 29 carries). St. Louis has the best homefield advantage in the UFL, so this marks a second consecutive difficult matchup for Wade Phillips' San Antonio squad. Kellen Mond and the Brahmas offense will need to be a lot more explosive to break through Anthony Becht's defense than they were against Bob Stoops' Renegades.
