OnePlus To Launch Gaming Smartphone With Shoulder Triggers

The upcoming model will compete with gaming phones like the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro, Red Magic 10 Pro and Red Magic 10 Pro+ in the Chinese market. OnePlus is preparing to launch two new phones in India – the Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 – on July 8. Earlier this month, the company also introduced the compact OnePlus 13s, which comes with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Now, rumours suggest OnePlus may soon launch a gaming smartphone. This phone may offer powerful features and include shoulder triggers to give users a better gaming experience. It is unlikely to launch in India or other global markets. More brands are now exploring the gaming phone market. Recently, Infinix launched the GT 30 Pro 5G in India. It comes with GT shoulder triggers that have a 520Hz response rate. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate chipset and features an XBoost Gaming Engine along with AI-backed VC cooling. It is priced at Rs 24,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model. If OnePlus joins this segment, it could bring strong competition. But for now, Indian gamers may have to wait to see if this device ever comes to their market. Is OnePlus working on a gaming smartphone with shoulder triggers? Here's what the report suggests

After confirming the launch date for its upcoming Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 smartphones in India, OnePlus may have another device in the works, this time aimed squarely at mobile gamers. According to recent industry chatter, the Chinese tech giant is experimenting with a dedicated gaming smartphone, though it is unlikely to be released outside its domestic market. Tipster Yogesh Brar, known for his reliable insights into the smartphone industry, revealed in a post on social media platform X that OnePlus is developing a 'sub-series' of phones focused on gaming. He added that the project remains in the experimental phase, suggesting it may still be undergoing internal research and development. Early information hints that the rumoured handset could include high-end hardware, such as a flagship-grade processor, a substantial battery, and physical shoulder triggers, features tailored to enhance gaming performance. These triggers are expected to offer improved responsiveness and tactile feedback, features commonly found in dedicated gaming phones. However, Brar noted that a global release for this potential gaming device appears uncertain. 'The possibility of a global launch is dicey,' he said, implying the product might stay exclusive to the Chinese market should it make it to production. If launched, the new gaming-focused device from OnePlus could join a competitive field currently led by brands like Asus and Nubia. Asus's ROG Phone 9 series and Nubia's Red Magic 10 Pro range are among the top choices for gamers seeking performance-oriented smartphones. While the tech giant has not confirmed any plans for such a device, the move would mark its first foray into the gaming phone segment. The company's existing smartphone lineup, including the recently unveiled OnePlus 13s featuring a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, already caters to power users—but a dedicated gaming sub-brand could take that appeal even further.

RedMagic's '10 Pro' is a Mobile Gaming Powerhouse

In 2025,mobile gamingisn't just flinging birds or matching candy, it's moved on from the tap-and-swipe simplicity of the past with purpose-built devices – like theRedMagic10 Pro – that pack desktop-level power in your pocket allowing you to run full-blown AAA titles wherever you are. The RedMagic 10 Pro is anAndroid-based smartphone that includes all of the typical features you'd expect in a modern phone, like a bright touchscreen with a high refresh rate, contactless payments, long battery life, and multiple cameras capable of capturing ultra-high-resolution photos and video. But what sets it apart from most is that it's been built with a focus on gaming and, as such, has been optimized It boasts a 6.85-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, providing a fluid scrolling experience in everyday use and more than enough frames for super-smooth gaming. Additionally, it can reach a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, which ensures clarity and visibility under direct sunlight, and put it on par with other flagship devices including Apple's iPhone 16 Pro Max. Unlike the iPhone, though, the RedMagic 10 Pro has a notch-free display, with the selfie camera hidden below the screen to let provide users with completely uninterrupted gameplay. Powering the RedMagic 10 Pro is one of the best chipsets currently available, with Qualcomm's flagship mobile processor theSnapdragon 8 Elite found at the heart of the device. This, together with up to 24GB of RAM (depending on the model variant), ranks the RedMagic 10 Pro among the most capable smartphones currently on the market in terms of pure performance, and in real worldterms the 10 Pro shines brightest when it comes to the main reason it exists: gaming. Powering the RedMagic 10 Pro is Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset – one of the most advanced mobile processors available today. Paired with up to 24GB of RAM (depending on the model), it firmly positions the 10 Pro among the most performance-driven smartphones on the market, especially when it comes to gaming. The 10 Pro handles even the most demanding Android games with ease, running titles likeGenshin Impact – notorious for hogging both the CPU and the GPU – steadily at high frame rates with ease and with minimal dips in performance. Additionally, the power derived from the Snapdragon chipset combined with the largeamount of RAM included by RedMagic makes the 10 Pro the ideal emulation device. Users can also expect to smoothly run various emulators with near-perfect performance for consoles including Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 3, as well as the PC emulatorWinlator, creating the potential to place vast games libraries in your pocket. Other gamer-focused features not found in most smartphones that are present in the RedMagic 10 Pro include its RGB LED lighting, which users can control and cusomize to their liking. Most importantly, though, the 10 Pro features a bespoke temperature management system known as ICE-X and described by RedMagic as the 'ultimate cooling system.' The ICE-X system is key to sustaining the 10 Pro's high performance levels and helps to keep the gaming phone's temperature down as as user turns things up during demanding gameplay sessions. It features a 23,000 RPM active fan that's been designed to operate at minimal noise, with liquid metal thermal conductivity used to ensure efficient heat dissipation and 'sustained peak performance even during marathon gaming sessions,' according to the brand. There are even two fully remappable 520Hz 'shoulder triggers' that act like real 'L' and 'R' buttons and work through haptic feedback, providing gamers with an alternative to touchscreen controls and coming in especially helpful with first-person shooter games. The RedMagic 10 Pro features a total of three cameras: a dual-lens setup on the rear comprising a wide and an ultra-wide, both at 50MP, and a single front-facing camera, the aforementioned selfie cam. Although RedMagic has managed to discreetly hide its front camera under the screen, it features a total of 2MP and is probably the weakest part of the phone. Gaming phones are quite niche and there are only two major manufacturers left in this space – RedMagic and ASUS – but, with the 10 Pro, RedMagic has managed to deliver maximum features at at an affordable price. The RedMagic 10 Pro isavailable nowin various finishes and specification starting at £549 GBP / $649 USD.

RedMagic 10 Pro's $1,499 Golden Saga Phone Is Coming to MWC 2025

The $649 RedMagic 10 Pro already has many of the latest features like Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, but at Mobile World Congress 2025 the company plans to show how high-end it can go. RedMagic will show off its $1,499 Golden Saga phone -- which was recently announced and includes gold and silver elements -- alongside a new Mora Pink edition of the RedMagic 10 Pro. The Golden Saga phone, which is available for preorder ahead of a March 31 ship date, is crafted in gold and has a cooling system that's silver and gold-plated with carbon fiber along with a sapphire glass rear cover. Samsung might finally end battery size woes with Galaxy S26 series

Samsung smartphones might soon fix the worst chink in their armor. According to the South Korean daily FN News, the company is mulling plans to fit next-gen silicon carbide batteries inside its upcoming Galaxy S26 series flagship smartphones. And it seems the Chaebol's mobile division won't be pulling any punches. As per the report citing industry insiders, Samsung could offer a battery as large as 6,000-7,000 mAh in capacity with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. For comparison, Samsung's current top-tier offering, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, comes equipped with a 5,000mAh battery. The competition, however, is already offering batteries of up to 7,000mAh capacity at nearly half the sticker price of Samsung's flagships. The Korean electronics giant is reportedly keen on deriving benefits of the silicon carbide battery tech, which promises higher energy density, allowing brands to fit high-capacity batteries in smaller packages. Take for example the Red Magic 10 Pro, a phone that is nearly as big as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but offers a 7,000 mAh battery with 100W fast charging chops. Samsung, however, is concerned about the hit on battery longevity. To fix that conundrum, the company is reportedly planning to experiment with different material choices, and adjusting the percentage concentration of silicon in the battery anode to achieve a denser, longer-lasting battery. Another advantage of silicon carbide batteries is that they don't hamper the charging pace figures. For example, brands like OnePlus and Honor have already managed to fit massive batteries in their latest flagships while simultaneously offering charging rates north of 80W in wired mode. To put that into perspective, Samsung's current-gen phones only go up to 45W in wired mode, and far slower in wireless format. The OnePlus 13, on the other hand, allows 50W wireless charging, while Samsung's best phones can only muster a peak top-up rate of 15W. Now, the latest report emerging from Samsung's home market isn't a certainty that the Galaxy S26 series will finally put an end to arguably the weakest aspect of Samsung smartphones. The shift might take another year, or two, even. But it is definitely reassuring to see that Samsung is paying attention to practical innovations and might not remain a laggard for longer than it can afford to. The company's mobile division certainly appears to be chalking the right course lately. As per Counterpoint Research data, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra marked the first time since 2018 that a Samsung Galaxy device has entered the top ten list of the world's highest-selling smartphones each year.
