LSU football loses key support staffer to top management firm

LSU football's support staff took a hit this week with Jordan Arcement moving on. According to On3's Pete Nakos, Arcement accepted a position with agency firm Athletes First. Arcement's exact position with the firm is unclear, but Arcement brings a wealth of knowledge about the recruiting and NIL world as the college sports landscape continues to adapt. Advertisement "Athletes First is a full-service management firm that has been representing elite players, coaches, personnel and broadcasters since its inception in 2001. Based in Southern California, with satellite offices in New York City, NY, Gainesville, FL, Austin, TX and Atlanta, GA, Athletes First is a staple in the sports representation business," AF states on its website. Arcement joined LSU as a recruiting specialist in 2022. He went on to serve as the director of recruiting communication and external relations before taking on the director of player development role. Before his work at LSU, Arcement was a staffer at Virginia. He played college football at Nicholls. Brian Kelly has worked to reshape LSU's support staff over the last year. The remodel continues as Kelly now has another hole to fill. This article originally appeared on LSU Wire: LSU football loses key support staffer to top management firm

Alabama to Host 4-Star QB That Recently Decommited From CFP Program

Alabama to Host 4-Star QB That Recently Decommited From CFP Program originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Since the dawn of 247Sports, the Alabama Crimson Tide has had 19 four-star or better quarterbacks commit to their program. Of the 19 top prospects, two currently reside on the 2025 rendition of Alabama's roster: veteran Ty Simpson and dual-threat signal-caller Keelon Russell. Advertisement Once regarded as a defensive force, Alabama has shifted to a more balanced approach over the past decade, with some seasons relying on offense as a calling card. With the Crimson Tide housing four Heisman Trophy winners, all of whom are on offense, since 2009, more top prospects are willing to flock to Tuscaloosa, including some who have even decommitted from their previous school to make it happen. Alabama football head coach Kalen DeBoerVasha Hunt-Imagn Images Amid his decommitment from the Boise State Broncos, three-star quarterback Bryson Beaver is set to visit Alabama on Sunday. A six-foot-two passer from Vista Murrieta High School in California, he threw for 3,214 yards, 33 touchdowns, and six interceptions as a junior last year. The 2026 grad also added 411 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Advertisement Beaver held a commitment to Boise State until earlier this week. He also has offers from the Ole Miss Rebels, Oregon Ducks, Utah Utes, San Jose State Spartans, Nevada Wolf Pack, Hawaii Warriors, and Florida Atlantic Owls, among others. Alongside Alabama, he also visited the University of Mississippi on Saturday. Four-star athlete Zyan Gibson is the only offensive skill position player committed to Alabama for the 2026 class. A commitment from Beaver would mark a second straight recruiting class highlighted by a top quarterback prospect. Wisconsin football blue-chip safety target commits to an SEC program

Wisconsin football class of 2026 target, safety Messiah Tilson, committed to Kentucky on Monday. Tilson chose the Wildcats over the Badgers, Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Minnesota Golden Gophers. He recently trimmed a long list of interests to those final contenders, following official visits to Wisconsin on April 23, Kentucky on June 3 and Rutgers on June 6. Advertisement 247Sports lists Tilson as a four-star prospect. He's specifically ranked as the No. 402 player in the class of 2026, No. 38 safety and No. 11 player from the state of Illinois. His choice of Kentucky was a bit of a surprise after the 247Sports staff issued several crystal ball predictions favoring Rutgers. Wisconsin, however, appeared out of the picture. The blue-chip safety joins a Kentucky class of 2026 that now ranks No. 67 nationally with only six players committed. Meanwhile, Wisconsin sits at No. 35 in the national rankings with 13 commitments. With Tilson off to the Wildcats, the Badgers still have yet to add a blue-chip prospect to their class. Wisconsin's focus turns to top blue-chip targets WR Jayden Petit, RB Amari Latimer, OT Kamari Blair and athlete Jackson Ford. Commitments from that group are critical for the program to finish in the nation's top 30. Michigan football in hot pursuit of 5-star RB Savion Hiter in official visit this weekend

Michigan football recruiting is in full swing, with two official visit weekends down and two more coming up. The Wolverines have hosted some top targets, including five-stars Felix Ojo and Trenton Henderson, but this upcoming weekend will see the maize and blue bring in arguably its top overall target in the 2026 cycle. The maize and blue have made no bones about Mineral (Va.) Louisa County five-star running back Savion Hiter being near or atop their board. After taking off much of the month of May from a recruiting perspective, rebuilding momentum with Hiter is key, and soon, the Wolverines will have that opportunity. Hiter set to visit Ann Arbor Hiter has been on campus before, including during the season when he visited for the Oregon game in November 2024. Now, the five-star is set to make his way back to Ann Arbor for his official visit this weekend. Rated the No. 17 player in the country, regardless of position, Hiter is also the top-rated running back in the 2026 class. He's being recruited by Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford, who started developing their relationship when he was at Ohio State. That carried over to the Wolverines once he defected from the Buckeyes last spring. Outlook and scouting report Michigan appears to be battling Tennessee, Ohio State, and Georgia for Hiter's services. The Vols and Buckeyes both made moves while the Wolverines self-imposed recruiting restrictions in May. It's likely that Michigan still leads, but it has more work cut out for it than it had before. Advertisement 247Sports' Andrew Ivins has the evaluation, comparing him to Omarion Hampton -- who was last coached by new maize and blue offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey during his time at North Carolina: Juiced-up running back with star potential for a College Football Playoff contender given the mix of his burst, power, agility, balance and vision. Has dominated the combine setting (1.52 10-yard split, 4.12 shuttle, 36-inch vertical jump) and is equipped with ready-to-play mass as he's already tipping the scales at 200 pounds. Effective as both an inside and outside runner as he's quick to chart a course and charge forward. Fast feet allow him to side-step trouble as he frequently dances around would-be tacklers in the backfield and turns negative plays into positive plays. Core strength and a lower pad level routinely negate arm tackles while full-speed cuts make it even harder for defenders to get him on the ground, especially when he breaks through the first wave of obstacles. Hasn't caught a ton of passes at the prep level, but has proven to be a tricky cover at offseason camps and looks to have true three-down potential as his physicality will only continue to give him an advantage in pass protection. Overall, should be viewed as a gifted ball carrier that can be a multi-year impact player on Saturdays and provide valuable minutes as early as Year 1. Must avoid setbacks and remain hungry, but profiles as a future NFL Draft pick with his size, testing and feel for the position. Hiter has visited Ohio State and Georgia officially thus far, with Michigan up this weekend and Tennessee next. He has no predictions in as of yet, but Ohio State has the current On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lead, despite most insiders being cautiously optimistic that the Wolverines are in the pole position. The maize and blue have been a run-first team in recent memory, and though there will be more of an onus on the pass game, Lindsey has shown during his time with the Tar Heels that he prefers balance, with prolific rushing to go along with a downfield aerial attack. Touted Star to Make Decision Between Georgia and Historic College Football Rival

Touted Star to Make Decision Between Georgia and Historic College Football Rival originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Georgia Bulldogs are in the final two schools for a highly coveted 2026 edge rusher. But to land the prospect, the Bulldogs will have to beat a familiar foe -- the Alabama Crimson Tide. Advertisement On3's Hayes Fawcett reported Wednesday that four-star edge rusher Khamari Brooks has cancelled his other scheduled official visits to the Texas Longhorns and the USC Trojans. With that announcement, Brooks is down to the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide for his final decision. "BREAKING: Four-star EDGE Khamari Brooks is down to Alabama and Georgia, he tells me," Fawcett posted on X. "The 6'4 235 EDGE from Bogart, GA has cancelled his remaining Official Visits to Texas & USC." Georgia Bulldogs football head coach Kirby Smart© Joshua L. Jones / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Although the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide just officially became Brooks' final two, that has been the assumption for the past couple months. Advertisement 'I am kind of focused on Alabama and Georgia right now,' Brooks told On3's Chad Simmons in early April. 'Both are great programs, they have been winning for a long time and they have great coaches. "It is neck and neck between those two at the top for me right now. Neither school has the edge for me right now. It is very close between Alabama and Georgia.' Brooks is the No. 14 edge rusher and 13th-ranked Georgia prospect in the 2026 recruiting class according to the 247Sports composite rankings. The edge rusher is also the No. 112 overall recruit. Standing at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, Brooks attends North Oconee High School in Georgia. Advertisement One advantage the Bulldogs have over the Crimson Tide is that he is a homegrown talent in the Peach State. Brooks suggested that could be a significant factor in his decision. "One of the biggest messages for Brooks when he visits Georgia is that the best in the state play for the Bulldogs," wrote On3's Keegan Pope.
