'Call of Duty: Black Ops 6' to kick off double XP weekend on June 19
Call of Duty fans looking to power through their progression tiers have reason to celebrate: a new Double XP event is set to go live across Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone this Thursday, June 19. Quietly added to the in-game event tab, this weekend-long boost offers players the perfect opportunity to catch up on Season 4 unlocks—especially after a rocky launch that left the community divided. With Black Ops 6 Season 4 now in full swing, Treyarch Studios is rolling out the Double XP event across all core modes—Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone. Though the official end date hasn't been confirmed, these events typically wrap up on Mondays, suggesting the bonuses will be active through June 23. While Treyarch hasn't clarified whether the upcoming weekend will include Double Weapon XP or Double Battle Pass XP, it's likely to stick to standard XP boosts. Battle Pass XP events are usually reserved for the tail end of a season, and with Season 4 just kicking off, players might have to wait a bit longer for that extra push. The XP boost comes at a critical time. The launch of Season 4 in May was one of the most controversial updates the series has seen in recent memory. Both Black Ops 6 and Warzone were hit with a series of bugs, glitches, and performance issues—many of which rendered certain features or entire sessions unplayable for some users. Though Treyarch and Raven Software have since rolled out hotfixes to address the majority of these problems, the damage to player sentiment was already done. The new Double XP weekend could be part of a broader effort to re-engage the community and reassure players that the developers are back on track. Even with the turbulence surrounding Season 4, Black Ops 6 continues to receive a steady stream of updates, and momentum is already building for the next installment. Following its official reveal earlier this month, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is confirmed to take place in the year 2035 and will act as a direct sequel to the beloved Black Ops 2. The campaign will bring back key characters including David Mason and the infamous Raul Menendez. While the release date has yet to be confirmed, fans can expect Black Ops 7 to drop in the series' traditional fall window—either late October or early November. Activision has confirmed platform support across both current and last-gen consoles: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Reveal Fired Off At Xbox Games Showcase 2025
Many surprises were in store for fans at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, but at the end, one of the biggest surprises was shown with a massive Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 reveal. There have been rumblings and speculation for weeks regarding a potential new Call of Duty title, and today at the Xbox Games Showcase in SGF 2025, Black Ops 7 was officially revealed. The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos (like all other Call of Duty titles start), ravaged by violent conflict and psychological warfare following the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. Fans will embody Black Ops 7 operatives under the capable command of David Mason, and while wielding new technology, the squad must push back enemy forces led by an enemy that prioritizes fear over everything. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's reveal trailer can be seen below. Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, Black Ops 7 will mark the first time the Call of Duty: Black Ops series had titles release consecutively without a break in between. The first two Call of Duty titles to do so was the previously released Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3, and like those titles, the seventh Black Ops entry will continue the storyline that was laid out by the second and sixth entries. Although Black Ops 6 launched within one year of the seventh title's trailer (Black Ops 6 launched in October 2024), Xbox has confirmed this is a full release featuring a cooperative campaign, new maps, and more zombies. While all fans have to go on is a teaser trailer, more information surrounding Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will surely come soon. Fans looking for more coverage on SGF 2025, can head to the official CGMagazine page to check out all of the news and coverage from the massive event. Be sure to check out all of the other announcements from the Xbox Games Showcase

Call of Duty Black Ops 7 teaser: David Mason will battle fear itself to save a world on the brink of chaos. Watch
Call of Duty Black Ops 7 teaser: The Call of Duty game series is one of the most popular gaming properties in the world, with their catalogue spanning across two decades and 23 games. Published originally by Activision in 2003, the series and its characters have become synonymous with first-person shooter games, and now they are back with another addition to their prolific collection. Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, Black Ops 7 is set in 2035 and will pick up from after the events of Black Ops 2 and 6. Our protagonist, David 'Section' Mason, who was earlier voiced by Avatar actor David Worthington, will now be voiced by actor Milo Ventimiglia, who is best known for his role in the TV series Gilmore Girls. David can be seen exploring the offices of The Guild, which poses as a company building tech for the betterment of society but in reality is a criminal organisation. David soon realises how the company's innovations are getting more advanced and stronger and how the promise of protecting the entire world is just another way of putting it in a cage. ALSO WATCH | 007 First Light announcement trailer: James Bond is a bullet looking for a target in the new game David follows a red butterfly, which seems to be a digital creation, and finds himself in a world with its dimensions all warped. As the butterfly lands upon a hand that emerges from the dark, the palm closes, reducing the butterfly to dust, and we hear the familiar voice of Raul Menendez, the main antagonist of Black Ops 2 and Call of Duty Strike Team. For context, Menendez is a Nicaraguan drug lord who planned an attack against the US government and other heads of state. While the teaser doesn't give away the exact motive behind Menendez's plans, we get an idea about his psyche going into this narrative as he snarls while addressing David and says, 'Fear is a powerful thing, David Mason.' No confirmation regarding the release date was made, but most Call of Duty games drop in either October or November. The caption posted by the developers along with the teaser reads, 'The year is 2035, and the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by violent conflict and psychological warfare following the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. Wielding cutting-edge technology, the Black Ops team led by David Mason must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponises fear above all else.'

'Call of Duty: Black Ops 7' Brings Back David Mason For More Futuristic Shooter Action
Another year, another Call of Duty game, and this time, Activision is breaking tradition with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 , marking the first back-to-back Black Ops release since the series began in 2010. With its reveal serving as a closer for the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, the game will be helmed by series regular Treyarch and Raven Software, and will see the return of David Mason, protagonist of 2012's Call of Duty: Black Ops II and son of the original Black Ops' Alex Mason. According to the game's official announcement post, its story is set more than 40 years after the events of Black Ops 6 and will pit Mason and his team against 'a manipulative enemy who weaponises fear above all else'. Bring the series back to the future once again, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will feature 'near-future weaponry' and include a co-op campaign, a multiplayer mode with new maps, and the next chapter of its Zombies mode, set 'in the heart of the Dark Aether'. 'This is the first time we're staying within the Black Ops series with back-to-back releases, so we're excited to give players a bit more time to enjoy all the live seasons and provide players more of what they want across Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone before we turn the page to Black Ops 7 ,' said Head of Activision Publishing Marketing Tyler Bahl, 'Delivering consecutive Black Ops games also allows our teams the tremendous opportunity to tap not only into our own creativity but also embrace the shift from a '90s setting to the new 2035 future setting within our marketing. For now, all we have to work with is a brief cinematic trailer as seen above, although Activision has promised 'the most mind-bending Black Ops ever', so it remains to be seen if the game's story can top the plot twists and intriguing narratives the series is known for. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 doesn't have a release date yet, but it will be arriving on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
