Police sealed the main entrance with steel cables and posted a large notice reading "Precintado" ('Sealed off') on Tuesday. When asked if any British or Irish guests were staying there, a receptionist said: 'I'm a bit rushed off my feet at the moment to check where our clients are from but I'd say there would be because we've got a bit of everything. 'There's almost 200 tourists staying here at the moment because we're nearly full. Advertisement Read more world news 'The police came this morning and sealed the front door. Hotel manager Alberto Tusquellas has blamed things on a "red tape" hiccup. He told local press a Spanish firm called Vive Resort Management SL began operating the hotel around a year ago, but their sublease agreement has now been revoked. According to the building's owners, named locally as María Jose García Vargas, the sublease was the subject of ongoing civil and criminal court action. Advertisement The owners reportedly found out that the company they contracted to run the hotel had sublet it to another firm without their knowledge. The hotel receptionist said: 'The swimming pool is still open and the guests can use it as normal. 'The car park the guests are having to enter and exit the hotel via is a closed building but it's on the ground floor.' The seafront Vivemar Hotel is described online as a 138-room hotel with modern facilities. Advertisement Online travel websites say it has a 'lush garden' and guests can 'relax by the seasonal outdoor swimming pool'. One writes: 'The on-site restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine for dinner, complemented by a bar for refreshments. 'A buffet breakfast is available each morning, providing a perfect start to the day.' But a recent guest said in a review: 'The cleaning leaves much to be desired. Old room furniture and broken curtain fall out when you try to open the balcony door. I don't recommend it to my worst enemy.' Advertisement It comes as Spanish locals surrounded a hotel and targeted tourists with water guns on Sunday as mass protests unfolded across the country. Campaigners were heard shouting "tourism is terrorism" and "tourists go home" as the marches kicked off in multiple cities. Locals say over-tourism is pushing locals out of affordable housing, driving up living costs and making city centres unusable. 6 Advertisement WHAT IS OVERTOURISM? Why it's a Black Environment Week for this PCMC engineer
On June 7, Prashant Raul, an engineer from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), will set off on a 15 km walk from Dehu to Alandi to spread awareness about pollution in the Indrayani River, which connects the two pilgrimage sites, and other ecological realities. If the walk comes after World Environment Day, it is for a reason. 'Across the world, people get together on June 5 to celebrate World Environment Day with sapling plantations and so on. I do not feel that there is any cause to celebrate, as we have damaged all five elements, from earth to air. This is a time for action. That is why I have initiated the Black Environment Week to draw people's attention to real problems,' he says. Raul, who set up an initiative called Green Army Pimpri-Chinchwad four years ago, is observing Black Environment Week this week, during which he is working towards generating awareness and mobilising people to take steps to save the planet. 'Not many people are aware when World Environment Day started and why. There is a lack of awareness that Jeju Province in the Republic of Korea has been chosen as the host location for World Environment Day, or that the theme this year is ending plastic pollution,' he adds. Raul, who was one of the litigants in the Save Metro Eco Park case in 2024, is an active member of PCMC's environment-conscious groups. The Green Army has campaigned against illegal tree felling – Raul has lodged six FIRs against it– and promoted the 'nature island' form of tree transplantation in which small clusters of saplings are planted in barren spaces to encourage afforestation. After Diwali 2024, Raul conducted 13 Air Quality Index (AQI) walks to capture real-time AQIs in PCMC. The Green Army Plate Bank, which has 22 centres in PCMC, gives out free steel plates, glasses and cutlery in an attempt to reduce single-use waste. The days surrounding World Environment Day have been observed as World Cycling Day and Zero Food Waste Day, among others. Raul has been engaging with people online and offline on the dangers of sound pollution caused by blowing horns, and the great problem of waste. On June 5, he will give a talk in a corporate office on a sustainable lifestyle, and conduct an online session on energy literacy. But, it is during the walk that Raul hopes to connect with the highest number of people. 'The Indrayani River is among the most polluted, and I am looking forward to discussions on how untreated sewage is getting discharged in the river, the meanings of biochemical oxygen demand and chemical oxygen demand and how a river dies,' says Raul. India's acute groundwater crisis and air pollution will also be discussed during Raul's walk. 'I will be conducting Facebook Live sessions and making videos during the walk to reach more people,' he says. While Raul is uncertain about the impact of his advocacy—though there are many responses to his social media posts on the environment—he is undeterred about continuing his crusade for the planet. Dipanita Nath is interested in the climate crisis and sustainability. She has written extensively on social trends, heritage, theatre and startups. Raul the new named linked with the vacant RB Leipzig head coach role
Bild reports that former Real Madrid Castilla head coach and ex-striker, Raul, is a new name linked with the vacant RB Leipzig head coaching role. Raul is leaving his role as head coach of Real Madrid's second team, Castilla, as he looks to take the next step in his career. The former striker has previously rejected former club Schalke, as they search for their new head coach. It has been rumoured that there has been contact between Leipzig and Raul. Advertisement However, the name that is gaining traction is head coach Alexander Blessin. kicker reports that Blessin and former Werder Bremen head coach Ole Werner are both candidates for the role as well. Leipzig ares struggling to find a new permanent head coach as their two main candidates are Cesc Fabregas and Oliver Glasner, both have valid reasons not to leave their current clubs, especially as Leipzig failed to qualify for Europe. Fabregas is continuing to build a project at Como, while Glasner has qualified for the Europa League with Crystal Palace after winning the FA Cup. This past season has proven a reality check for Leipzig, as without Champions League football, they are no longer as attractive destination as they first thought. GGFN | Jack Meenan

Real Madrid confirm Raul Gonzalez replacement
After it was confirmed this week that Raul Gonzalez would be moving on, Real Madrid have announced his successor. It was well-known that Los Blancos have been impressed by him, and Alvaro Arbeloa will indeed take over as the Real Madrid Castilla manager ahead of the season. Arbeloa had been positioned to replace Raul as early as last summer, depending on whether he left. Earlier in the week it was announced by Real Madrid that Raul had decided to leave the club after six seasons as Castilla manager, and several Primera RFEF play-off appearances. The legendary forward also made it clear he planned to return later in his career. Alvaro Arbeloa takes over from Raul As detailed by the club statement, Arbeloa has a strong grounding at Real Madrid, coming through their academy system between 2001 and 2005. He would then return as a senior player in 2009, and make 238 appearances in seven years, winning eight trophies in the process, including two Champions Leagues and a Liga title. Image via Real Madrid CF Arbeloa has been amongst the youth ranks as a coach at Real Madrid for the past five years, first returning in 2020. For the past three years, he has been in charge of the under-19 side, where he has won the league twice, the Copa del Rey and Champions Cup for their respective age ranges. The 42-year-old has plenty of respect at Real Madrid, and supposedly the ear of President Florentino Perez. Previously, he has been considered as a potential first-team assistant, and he has a good relationship with Xabi Alonso. What next for Raul and La Fabrica? Raul looks set to pursue a managerial career elsewhere, with consistent interest from Germany, where he played for Schalke at the end of his career. Over the past two years, Villarreal, Espanyol and Sevilla have supposedly taken an interest in him. The word is that he was holding out for the senior job at Real Madrid, but Alonso's appointment is a third time he has been passed over. Meanwhile another former Real Madrid forward Julio Baptista is expected to take on a new role.
