Bihar: RLM President Upendra Kushwaha claims death threats from Bishnoi Gang, seeks urgent police action
Siwan (Bihar) [India], June 20 (ANI): Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) national president and Member of Parliament Upendra Kushwaha on Friday claimed that he received death threats from individuals claiming to be members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The threats were allegedly issued over phone calls and text messages late Thursday evening. The RLM leader further said that the caller identified himself as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has been previously linked to high-profile criminal activities across India. Speaking to ANI, Kushwaha informed the media that he received multiple phone calls between 8:52 pm and 9:20 pm from two different mobile numbers. 'Yesterday, I got 2-3 phone calls and a message threatening to kill me in 10 days. The caller claimed that he was from the Bishnoi gang. I have informed the Police, they are investigating,' he said. 'This is a serious matter of security. I have informed the Patna Senior Superintendent of Police and requested an immediate investigation into the incident. Strict action must be taken, and the accused must be arrested at the earliest,' Kushwaha added. Meanwhile, commenting on the Prime Minister's upcoming visit, Kushwaha said he was confident it would lead to major regional development announcements. 'The people of Siwan are waiting for the PM's arrival today. As wherever the PM has gone, he has given special gifts to that area...' 'Seat-sharing between NDA parties will happen smoothly,' he added. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit, beginning with Bihar and Odisha on June 20, followed by Andhra Pradesh on June 21. On Friday, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects at Siwan, a major boost to infrastructure and socio-economic development in Bihar. In line with his commitment to conserving and rejuvenating the river Ganga, the Prime Minister will inaugurate six Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) under the Namami Gange project, worth over Rs 1,800 crore, to cater to the needs of people in the region. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for water supply, sanitation, and STPs worth over Rs 3000 crore in various towns across Bihar, aiming to provide clean and safe drinking water to the citizens of these towns. Kushwaha may be inducted into Modi Cabinet
PATNA: With the Assembly polls fast approaching in Bihar, speculation is rife that Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha may be inducted into PM Narendra Modi's Cabinet during the next round of expansion. The move is reportedly aimed at wooing voters belonging to the Kushwaha community, who account for a sizeable chunk of the population in Shahabad. The region, which comprises Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas and Kaimur districts, has long been a stronghold of the INDI alliance. The BJP-led NDA's poor showing in the region in the 2020 Assembly polls as well as the 2024 Lok Sabha elections may have prompted the step.

Kushwaha holds rally in Muz, disregards‘4-5 seats' media buzz as distraction
Patna: Rajya Sabha member and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) president, Upendra Kushwaha , while addressing a rally in Muzaffarpur on Sunday expressed annoyance over media speculations about offer of "four-five seats" to his party under the seat-sharing formula, stating that "his politics is for change, not for posts". He said he would continue raising issues concerning the common people, no matter how many troubles come his way. His rally is being billed as a "show of strength" to bargain for more seats as the NDA gets busy with finalising the seat-sharing. Addressing the "Samvaidhanik Adhikar-Parisiman Sudhar" rally, Kushwaha said he never cared about seats since he enjoys the "people's power". "Four-five seats…Upendra Kushwaha kabhi iski chinta nahin karta hai (I never worry about it)," Kushwaha said, adding, for him issues are more important and that he would continue raising them come what may. He said if compromising with people's issues leads to a post, it is better to remain without such a post. Citing examples, Kushwaha, who served as a Union minister of state during the first term of PM Narendra Modi, said Mahatma Gandhi, Babasaheb Ambedkar, and Jayaprakash Narayan could have got any post, but they gave first priority to the people's issues. RLM demands delimitation based on population
Patna: Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), led by Rajya Sabha member and former Union minister Upendra Kushwaha , on Monday demanded the delimitation of constituencies based on population, amid opposition from southern states to such a move. The demand was among 15 resolutions passed at the party's three-day brainstorming session held at Valmiki Nagar, which concluded on Monday. A political resolution passed at the session noted that states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh were losing parliamentary seats compared to Tamil Nadu and Kerala because of population factors. "According to Article 330(2) of the Constitution, the determination of SC and ST seats should be based on the population present in each state, but this determination is still based on the 1971 population," the resolution said. It further proposed that, without reducing the number of seats in southern states, the number of seats in Bihar and other states should be increased. Speaking at the concluding session, Kushwaha said, "A delimitation exercise based on population would directly benefit the most vulnerable sections of society, as it would increase the number of reserved constituencies for scheduled castes and tribes. The RLM also called for a caste census to be conducted, saying that several caste groups had been left behind in terms of development. The resolution pointed out that the practice of caste-based census was discontinued after Independence. A political resolution urged NDA allies to remain alert and avoid internal disputes to prevent the opposition from gaining an advantage in the upcoming assembly polls. Finally, the RLM demanded the implementation of a domicile policy for appointments in Bihar. "The states that prevent our youth from securing jobs, yet whose children come here and take away opportunities from our youth – this is something RLM workers will not accept," the resolution warned.
