Surjewala Accuses Haryana Govt of Withdrawing Advertisements For 8,000 Jobs Promised Before State Polls
Surjewala added that the jobs that were taken back included 5,666 jobs of Haryana Police. New Delhi: Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala on Thursday (June 19) launched an attack on the Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Haryana, accusing it of withdrawing advertisements for 8,000 jobs which were promised before the assembly elections last year. 'HSSC withdrew a total of 8,653 Group C jobs including 5,600 in police. On August 14, 2024, three hours before the announcement of the assembly (election), Shri Nayab Saini announced these jobs, showed big dreams, even said that till these jobs are not created, I will not take oath as CM, but everything turned out to be a lie. Now Nayab Saini ji laughs, tells jokes, enjoys the helicopter and the youth are knocking door to door for their future,' Surjewala wrote on X. 5,600… — Randeep Singh Surjewala (@rssurjewala) June 19, 2025 Surjewala added that the jobs that were taken back included 5,666 jobs of Haryana Police, 1,838 jobs of stenographer, 535 jobs of draftsman/assistant draftsman, 319 jobs of auto diesel mechanic and 180 jobs of fitter/press mechanic etc. 'Just before the 2024 elections, 50,000 jobs were promised through HKRN, i.e. Kaushal Nigam, and they garnered a lot of votes. Now, after the elections, 4,000 HKRN youths have been sacked and a sword is hanging over the rest,' said Surjewala. Responding to the allegations, Chief Minister Saini's media secretary Praveen Attrey told The Hindu that Congress leaders arbitrarily gave away jobs when in power and also publicly announced to sell jobs during the election campaign, and now seemed worried because the BJP government had given around 1.75 lakh jobs on merit. 'Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had given away appointment letters to 24,000 youth before taking the oath of the office. Soon more people will be given jobs through Common Entrance Test. The Chief Minister is fulfilling the promises made during the election,' said Attrey, reported the newspaper. Surjewala alleges HPSC ‘copied' 26 questions from Bihar exam
Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala alleged Sunday that 26 questions from a recent Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) exam for the post of Assistant Professor (Geography) were copied verbatim from the exam conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) for the same post. According to Congress leaders, Haryana's 100-question multiple-choice exam was held on June 8, 2025, whereas Bihar's corresponding exam took place on April 29, 2025. Surjewala questioned the necessity of conducting a separate HPSC exam if questions were merely copied from BPSC's paper. He noted that candidates who appeared for the Haryana exam have already raised concerns with the commission. Surjewala also alleged a similar issue with HPSC's Assistant Professor (History) exam, conducted on May 18, 2025, where 22 questions were copied verbatim from a corresponding exam conducted by Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission on September 28, 2016. Additionally, he claimed that 16 questions from Haryana's History Assistant Professor exam had previously appeared in the Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test held on January 7, 2024. Highlighting alleged errors, Surjewala pointed out that incorrectly framed questions from the Chhattisgarh exam had been repeated in Haryana's paper. For instance, question number 44, related to the Saluva dynasty of Vijayanagar, had incorrect answer choices in Chhattisgarh's exam and was replicated unchanged in Haryana's paper. Similarly, question number 49 in Chhattisgarh's paper contained discrepancies in Hindi and English versions of the answer choices, yet HPSC adopted the same flawed question as it was. In response, a senior HPSC officer defended the commission, stating that it was humanly impossible to verify whether a particular question had been previously used by any recruitment agency in any of India's 28 states, apart from Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The officer added that HPSC ensures exam syllabus compliance, maintains secrecy, and conducts exams without paper leaks, emphasising that the priority is to hold a fair and transparent recruitment process.

Congress alleges irregularities in Haryana assistant professor recruitment
New Delhi [India], June 15 (ANI): Nearly two weeks after the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) cancelled the written examination for Assistant Professor (Hindi) posts amid allegations of a paper leak, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on Sunday alleged fresh irregularities in the recruitment process. He claimed these stem from the earlier 'hush-up' of the HPSC cash-for-job scam. Speaking at a press conference, Surjewala said, 'Investigative agencies found fraud in five recruitment processes under HPSC. The HPSC secretary even told the court that Rs 1.08 crore was recovered from the HPSC office, which was also reported in the media.' He alleged that despite the evidence, no concrete action was taken. 'Neither Alok Verma, the Chairman of HPSC, nor any other officials were questioned. The matter was hushed up. As a result, the recruitment of Assistant Professors has run into problems again. No Assistant Professors have been appointed in Haryana's college cadre since 2019, which means students have been studying without teachers for the last seven years,' he said. Surjewala further claimed that in 2024, over 2,000 posts for Assistant Professors were advertised. 'In August 2024, 2,424 posts for Assistant Professors across 26 subjects were advertised. Around 1.5 lakh candidates applied. But as preparations for the 2025 exams began in May and June, problems have emerged again,' he added. The HPSC cancelled the written exam for Assistant Professor (Hindi) held on June 1, 2025, following allegations of a paper leak. Earlier, in August 2024, the Election Commission had halted the announcement of recruitment results in Haryana until the completion of the Assembly elections. The commission acted on a complaint by senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, who alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct in the recruitment of 5,600 constable posts in the Haryana Police, 76 TGT and PTI posts by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC), and various posts by HPSC. Deadline for CET registration extended by 48 hours in Haryana
Following strong demand from applicants and opposition leaders, the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) on Thursday announced a 48-hour extension for online registration of the Common Eligibility Test (CET) for Group C posts. According to a public notice issued by HSSC, applicants can now register on the official portal until June 14, instead of the previous deadline of June 12. The last date for fee submission has also been extended to June 16, replacing the earlier deadline of June 14. Opposition leaders had earlier urged HSSC to extend the registration deadline for CET Group C posts, citing technical issues that prevented many candidates from completing the process. After a three-year gap, HSSC announced CET in May, a preliminary written examination designed to shortlist candidates for various government roles across Haryana. Originally, online registration for CET Group C posts was open from May 28 to June 12, with June 14 set as the last date for fee submission. Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said many applicants were unable to upload their documents due to technical glitches in the official portals on Thursday, and demanded an extension of the registration deadline.
