On 11th International Yoga Day, Haryana govt announces 5-min yoga break in offices

To provide a stress-free environment, the Haryana government has decided to offer a five-minute yoga break for its employees. The state will also implement a uniform yoga curriculum in all universities and colleges in Haryana. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini made these announcements, while addressing a state-level gathering to mark the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) at Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra. Yoga guru Ramdev led the session. The CM made several other announcements to promote yoga research and related activities. These included a 'Yoga Lekhak Protsahan Yojana' (Yoga Writer Incentive Scheme) with outstanding authors to be honoured annually; 100 new yoga and 'vyayamshalas' to be established this financial year taking the total number to 983; an international meditation hall to be built at Shri Krishna AYUSH University in Kurukshetra and introduction of a credit-based evaluation system for assessing students' yoga performance in all government schools. Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, state's AYUSH and health minister Kumari Arti Singh Rao, MP Naveen Jindal and several others attended the event. PM Narendra Modi's address from Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh was live broadcasted during the event for all the participants. The state government informed that over one lakh people gathered at the Brahma Sarovar for the state-level event, while nearly 20 lakh participants joined yoga sessions held across 22 districts and 121 blocks of Haryana. 'Yoga and naturopathy subjects will be recognised under the AYUSH, starting this year, with government registration of practitioners also commencing. Experienced coaches will be appointed to strengthen yoga as a sport at the national level and to train athletes for international competitions. Recruitment for 40 yoga instructors in the sports department will begin shortly,' Saini said. Activities related to Yoga Day began in Haryana as early as May 27, 25 days before the International Yoga Day. 'Various programmes were organised across the state, involving officers, employees, residents, and religious and social organisations, transforming Yoga Day into a grand celebration. Today, both Kurukshetra and all of Haryana have been immersed in yoga,' Saini said, adding that yoga is not just a form of exercise but a complete science for living a healthy, happy, and peaceful life. 'The PM has restored yoga—India's ancient legacy—to the international stage and inspired millions with the slogan, 'Khelega Bharat, toh Khilega Bharat; Yoga ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz,' which has become a source of motivation for many,' Saini said, further expressing his gratitude to Ramdev adding that 'he has connected individuals worldwide with ancient yoga practices, thus giving yoga a global identity'.

Uttarakhand HC quashes summons to Patanjali, Ramdev in complaint over allegedly misleading ads

The Uttarakhand High Court has quashed a trial court's summons to Patanjali Ayurved and its co-founders, yoga guru Ramdev and Balkrishna, in a complaint accusing them of publishing misleading advertisements to promote various products. In an order dated June 3, Justice Vivek Bharti Sharma allowed a petition filed by Patanjali Ayurved, Ramdev and Balkrishna under Section 582 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to quash summons issued to them by the Haridwar chief judicial magistrate. Section 582 deals with the powers of the High Court to prevent abuse of the process of any court. The 'misleading advertisements' case stems from a complaint filed last year by Uttarakhand's food security officer. In the complaint, the officer cited letters from the Ministry of Ayush issued in 2022, Live Law reported. These letters noted that several Patanjali medicines, including Madhugrit, Madhunashini and Divya Livogrit Tablet, were promoted through allegedly misleading advertisements. The complaint alleged offenses under Sections 3, 4 and 7 of the Drugs and Magic Remedies Objectionable Advertisements Act. Section 3 of the Act prohibits the advertisement of certain drugs for the treatment of specific diseases and disorders, while Section 4 bans misleading advertisements related to drugs. Section 7 outlines the penalties for these offenses. Justice Sharma in his order said that there was 'no evidence of falsity of claim, no allegation of falsity of claim nor there is any description of manner how that is misleading'. 'Merely writing letter to the petitioner firm that the advertisement should be removed without stating specifically that the claim made in the advertisements were false, does not give reasons to prosecute the petitioner firm,' the court said. The order also stated that there was no occasion for the trial court to take the cognisance and issue summons to the petitioners as there was no allegation about how the advertisement was false and misleading. In April 2024, the Supreme Court had criticised the state government for not taking action against Patanjali Ayurved and its subsidiary Divya Pharmacy under the Drugs and Magic Remedies Objectionable Advertisements Act for the publication of allegedly misleading advertisements. The state government had filed the complaint against Patanjali Ayurved, Ramdev and Balkrishna following the Supreme Court's observations. The High Court, in its order on June 3, observed that the state government cannot rely on the Supreme Court's remarks in the case against Patanjali Ayurved. The complaint had to be assessed solely on the basis of the allegations raised in it and the materials supporting it, the court added.

Turkiye govt denies involvement of Turkish Technic in Air India crash

The Turkiye government has rejected allegations that Turkish Technic, the maintenance, repair and overhaul centre of Turkish Airlines, was involved in maintaining the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that crashed in Ahmedabad, India. It described the claims as baseless disinformation intended to tarnish Turkey's leading global brands. "The claim that 'the maintenance of the Boeing 787-8 passenger aircraft was carried out by Turkish Technic' following the crash of an Air India passenger aircraft during take-off is false," the official sources in Turkiye said in an official statement. The claim that Turkish Technic maintained the crashed aircraft constitutes "disinformation" aimed at "manipulating" public opinion regarding Turkiye-India relations, the statement added. The officials clarified that Turkish Technic had never worked on any Boeing 787-8 aircraft belonging to Air India. They also stated that the maintenance agreements signed between Air India and Turkish Technic in 2024 and 2025 were limited to B777-type wide-body aircraft only. The Turkish authorities confirmed that while they were aware of the company that carried out the most recent maintenance on the crashed aircraft, issuing a statement on the matter is beyond its purview to prevent unnecessary speculation. The authorities also said that the Centre for Countering Disinformation will continue to monitor and act against any misinformation aimed at tarnishing the reputation of its flagship brands on the global stage. The clarification follows a public statement by yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who claimed that a Turkish agency was responsible for maintaining Air India aircraft. 'I've come to know that an agency from Turkiye was handling the maintenance and servicing of these aircraft,' Ramdev said. 'India needs to keep a close watch on the aviation sector. There's a possibility of a conspiracy involving that agency. We must curb foreign interference in such sensitive matters.' DGCA ramps up inspections of Boeing 787 jets The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered urgent safety checks on dozens of Boeing 787 jets following the Air India crash that killed all but one of the 242 people on board, Bloomberg reported. Air India said it had completed one-time inspections on nine Dreamliners under the regulator's supervision, with 24 more aircraft still to be checked. The inspections are being conducted as the aircraft return to India, before they are cleared for their next flights. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said on Friday that it had ordered maintenance checks on all of Air India's Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft powered by General Electric's GEnx engines. The two-week inspections will cover the fuel, cabin air, engine control, and hydraulic systems, following indications that the Air India aircraft lost thrust during take-off.

Air India plane crash: Baba Ramdev points to ‘foreign conspiracy', mentions Turkish agency

Two days after an Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad claimed over 260 lives, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Saturday suspected a possible 'foreign conspiracy', alleging the involvement of a Turkish maintenance agency whose contract with Indian airports was terminated last month. 'I got to know that an agency from Turkiye used to take care of the maintenance and service of the aircraft. India will have to keep a close eye on the aviation sector,' Ramdev told ANI news agency. 'There is a possibility of a conspiracy by that agency.' Without providing any evidence for his claims, Ramdev said that India must stop allowing foreign companies to interfere in such sensitive matters.
