Rakul Preet Singh Checks Into "Barbie Land" In A Beautiful Pink Dress

Rakul Preet Singh knows how to make a statement when it comes to fashion. Whether in her gorgeous gowns or beautiful sarees, the actress serves fashion goals in every ensemble. Recently, Rakul hopped on the Barbiecore trend and posted an array of pictures on Instagram dressed in a halter-neck dress. Her monsoon fashion is filled with vibrant pinks that come with thin spaghetti straps that tied at the back of her neck. The bodice featured gathered fabric, creating a slightly ruched effect around the neckline and chest area. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rakul Singh (@rakulpreet) While the dress seemed fitted at the bust, the fabric naturally flowed from the waist, transitioning into a skirt. Gentle pleats below the waist created soft folds that gave volume and movement to the dress. For makeup, Rakul opted for a neutral eyeshadow, thin eyeliner, subtle blush and a nude brown lipstick. Gold statement earrings, a bracelet stack, rings and flat sandals finished her look with elegance. Rakul styled her hair in natural waves and tied them in a ponytail. A few strands of hair were left loose in the front which framed her face perfectly. Rakul Preet Singh's love for pink is no secret. The actress often dresses up in a vibrant colour for events. Earlier, Rakul wore a pretty pink saree from the shelves of clothing brand Anavila, priced at Rs 24,500. The cotton drape featured vertical prints in various shades of pink. She draped the six-yard wonder in the classic, traditional manner with pleats on the front and a drape hanging down her shoulder. She chose a simple yet elegant sleeveless blouse. Her choice of oxidised silver jewellery was a fitting choice for the look. Rakul Preet Singh recalls nervy times during Army officer dad's postings, says she got his 'army genetic'

She may not be a big observer of Father's Day as a concept, but Rakul Preet Singh is extremely close to her father. Rakul admits she has a special bond with dad, Col (Retd) Kulwinder Singh, including shared character traits as well. In a special Father's Day chat with HT, Rakul opens up on memories with her dad and the biggest learnings from him. Talking about the significance of Father's Day, Rakul says, "I think the joy is in celebrating your parents every day, your father every day, for the unlimited sacrifices that they have given while raising us. I think just celebrating them for one day is not enough. It's more about special memories that we create throughout the year." Rakul admits that she is very similar to her father. "We are both practical. I think I get his army genetic of pushing against odds. Nature-wise, both of us are equally hot-tempered, but also very driven, very disciplined and punctual," she tells us. Rakul's father served in the Indian Army, and when she was growing up, he would often be away, at times in sensitive locations where contact would be limited. "Today, when I look back, I feel that, thanks to my mother, we never felt those anxious moments," she admits. Rakul says that she and her brother were too young to understand how serious things were back then, but credits both her father and mother for not letting them get overwhelmed. "We were kids and much younger to actually understand the gravity of the situation. But, kudos to them for never letting us feel the same. And also that, in an era where mobile phones were not there to constantly keep in check and keep talking. I feel like a huge credit goes to them for keeping the environment at home so normal that we never felt that there was anything worrisome." Despite that, Rakul does remember times when she saw her mother tense when her father was posted in the North-East. "I do have certain memories of one or two instances where we couldn't locate him. He was in a disturbed area, and there was news of a shootout. I have very specific memories when my mom was really tense till we heard back that everything was fine. Especially (when he served) in the northeast; he served there for years. So that was a very disturbed time for the family, but we were not privy to it." Rakul adds that even now, after she is successful, her father and mother keep her grounded just by being themselves. "The best thing is that my father or my mother both are very unaffected by fame or success. They are very happy, very supportive, but very unaffected by it. That's what actually keeps me grounded."

Rakul Preet Singh: My dad's time in the Indian Army made me strong emotionally

Rakul Preet Singh's entire life has been shaped by the fact that she is an Army kid. Her father Col (Veteran) Kulvinder Singh served in the Regiment of Artillery, the Arm which fires long range guns, rockets & missiles. Today, on the occasion of Father's Day, she looks back on her formative years with fondness, even though her father would have to be away at a stretch sometimes for duty, 'I grew up in the cantonment, so everyone you know is an Army kid. You think that's a way of life, you don't know any better as a kid. Everyone's father is visiting for a month or a weekend. There would be field postings and peace postings. You become so strong emotionally,' she shares. A post shared by Rakul Singh (@rakulpreet) Rakul also remembers how the distance never meant the love between her and her dad lessened even a bit, 'There were no mobile phones in the 1990s, we used to talk to dad on trunk calls. When he was stationed in the North East around 1999 due to disturbances at the border, a mediator would pass on our message to him 'sahab bacche chocolates laane ko bol rahe hain', we could hear dad's reply but he couldn't hear us. Today, this helps me in a way that trolls don't affect me. I have seen such strong parents.' Operation Sindoor was India's answer to the neighbours over growing terrorism. How did Rakul look at it from the POV of an Army kid, who has lived through uncertain times where her own father had to be on the field, we ask. She says, 'I have seen it. Post Kargil, there was Operation Parakram, Forces were deployed again, my father was deployed too. For three months we didn't know whether our forces are coming back, or what is the situation. Then there were disturbances on the border in North East around 1999. I have heard stories of a shoot at sight order on my dad (from the enemy). Childhood se pata tha... you see life from a different lens. Which is why I feel most Army kids will be balanced and centered. You have grown up in an atmosphere of being fearless, small issues are not an issue at all in life. During Operation Sindoor, my dad and I were glued to our TVs and constantly in touch.' 'It's been a wonderful experience, being a father to Rakul. We were two brothers in our family, we didn't have a girl. Rakul was the first girl child. It's something I am sure my parents missed. Any family is incomplete without a daughter. As for me being away for the nation's duty when she and her brother were growing up, my wife should answer this because she was the one handling the kids. One thing for sure common between both Rakul and Aman is that they never troubled her. They would not get cranky that papa is away. My wife did a wonderful job bringing them up. Rakul has seen me stay away for operations for years, like Operation Vijay and Parakram. It is a foregone conclusion that wars do not resolve anything. However when things go beyond a particular level, some kind of punitive action is required. Our honourable PM took a wonderful stand with Operation Sindoor.'- Col (Veteran) Kulvinder Singh
