Ex-TRB jawan held for drunk driving
Ahmedabad: A former Traffic Reserve Battalion (TRB) constable was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and ramming his car into multiple vehicles and a roadside food cart near Das Khaman junction in Nikol. The incident reportedly occurred around 2am. The accused, identified as Rahul Singh Vinod Singh Rajput, 26, a businessman and resident of Thakkarnagar, reportedly lost control of his car, carrying around four passengers. No injuries or casualties were reported. Upon reaching the spot, traffic police officials discovered liquor bottles in the vehicle and a dashboard display board labelled 'police'. Head constable Ranjitdan Aydan of 'I' Division traffic police station, who lodged the complaint, noted that Rajput was visibly drunk, reeking of alcohol, unsteady on his feet, had red eyes and displayed confrontational behaviour. He also admitted to consuming liquor but failed to produce a valid permit. Eyewitnesses and local panch witnesses corroborated the account, confirming Rajput's erratic driving. CCTV footage from the area captured the sequence of events, further substantiating the complaint, police said. The car, valued at Rs 1 lakh, was seized at the spot, and Rajput was taken into custody at 3.15am. During questioning, he revealed he had previously served as a TRB constable. A case has been registered under the Motor Vehicles Act for reckless and drunk driving and under the Gujarat Prohibition Act for illegal possession and consumption of alcohol. Further investigations are underway.

Gold, diamonds worth 40L stolen from same angadia firm in two robberies
Surat: Gold, silver and diamond parcels worth Rs 40.65 lakh were stolen in two robberies involving employees of the same angadia firm. In the first robbery, four men posed as policemen and took away parcels worth Rs 16.56 lakh from the courier after he got off a bus in Surat on Sunday morning. Varachha police are investigating both offences after registering two separate FIRs. In the first case, Nikulsinh Rajput, an employee of the angadia firm R Mahendrakumar and Company, boarded a private luxury bus from Ahmedabad to Surat on Saturday night. Rajput was carrying gold, silver and diamond parcels worth Rs 16.55 lakh. After he got to Surat, he was waiting for his company car driver, Vinodsinh, when a car approached him with four men inside. One of them said he was a policeman and said that Rajput had ganja (cannabis) in his bag. He ordered Rajput to get into the car to got to the police station. When he got in, the four men started hitting him and took his bag. He was thrown out of the car near the Sarthana Jakat Naka. In the second case, an employee of the same angadia firm had boarded a bus from Ahmedabad on Wednesday night as did the two suspected thieves. When the bus got to Surat on Tuesday morning, the two grabbed the employee's bag — which had valuables worth Rs 24.10 lakh — when the angadia firm employee was talking to the driver. The two grabbed the bag with the diamond and gold parcels and got off the bus. They got into a waiting car and sped away. Varachha police have booked eight persons for the two robberies. BOX Car was rented from Zoomcar According to Varachha police sources, the accused have been identified. Police suspect both robberies are linked through a common informant. In the first robbery, the accused had rented the car from the Zoomcar rental app. However, police have got CCTV footage of the accused and are likely to crack both cases soon.

According to a Mughal record Padshahnama, the land belonged to Raja Man Singh, grandfather of Jai Singh. He donated the land to Shah Jahan. Historical documents indicate that the land now occupied by the Taj Mahal was previously owned by the Kachhwaha Rajputs, and the site featured a large, domed structure. Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) also suggests that the land was owned by Raja Jai Singh was a Rajput king and one of Shah Jahan's trusted allies. The Mughal king negotiated with Singh and acquired the land in exchange for four havelis in Agra. Part Of A Common Practice Notably, the exchange of properties was a common practice and part of cooperation between the Mughal rulers and regional Rajput kings. Raja Jai Singh was a highly regarded and loyal military leader within the Mughal court, known for his strong alliance with the emperor. BJP MP Diya Kumari, who belongs to the Jaipur royal family, claimed that the land originally belonged to her ancestors. 'Records available with the Jaipur family show that the land belonged to us. Compensation was given in return for the land,' Kumari told media. Concerns over scavenging: Ahmedabad Police enlist animal rescuers to relocate stray dogs from AI 171 crash site

This follows concerns that the dogs scavenged human remains, hindering recovery and identification and compromising investigation integrity . The May 12 crash killed all but one of the 242 people on board the London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and at least 38 on the dogs around the crash site are in a bad condition and they are scavenging for food, said a senior police official. "The search operation is still on, and there are several human remains still being found every day. We have noticed that the dogs on site are eating the human remains and entering the crash site," he said. "We have to rehabilitate them for their protection as well as to maintain the sanctity of the investigation."Some of the dogs also appeared distressed, prompting authorities to act swiftly. Officials said the priority is to ensure that the animals receive proper care while also preventing any contamination of the crash Rajput, head of the Cattle Nuisance Control Department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation , said his department is involved. "We have so far rescued four dogs from the crash site and brought them to our shelter at Danilimda so that they don't disturb the site," Rajput told ET. Personnel from his department have been working at the site from search teams continue to pull out human remains from the debris of the BJ Medical College hostel building destroyed in the crash and the surrounding areas. They recovered a body on Sunday, three days after the Monday, at least 15 human remains were found at the site. These discoveries highlight the challenges for search teams in ensuring complete and respectful recovery of the human remains. Scavenging animals complicate victim identification and debris clearing. Authorities manage the cordoned-off site to facilitate recovery and maintain public health and investigative of Monday, DNA samples of 99 victims have been matched, and 64 bodies, including that of former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, have been handed over to their families. The process of identifying remains is painstaking, often taking up to 72 hours for DNA matching, due to their condition.
