First Copy trailer: Munawar Faruqui plays piracy kingpin in nostalgic series

Stand up comedian Munawar Faruqui, who won shows like Bigg Boss 17 and 'Lock Up 1' is set to showcase his acting skills in his debut OTT series, 'First Copy.' The trailer of the series was released online on Monday, and it seems like the audiences are in for an exciting ride in the 90s, the trailer follows the journey of Munawar as Arif emerging as the kingpin of film piracy. Troubles mount for Arif as his activities gain the attention of law enforcement agencies and Bollywood celebrities, leading to a high-octane cat-and-mouse chase. The romantic arc between him and his on-screen partner (played by Ashi Singh) is another highlight of the The trailer is packed with nostalgia, entertainment, romance and drama, making it a promising binge-watch. 'First Copy' also features Gulshan Grover, Krystle Dsouza, Ashi Singh and Saqib Ayub in prominent roles. Directed by Farhan P Zamma and produced under the banner of Salt Media and RVCJ, 'First Copy' will stream on Amazon MX Player from June Faruqui spoke about his character in a statement and expressed that 'First Copy' is extremely special to him as it marks his acting debut in a series. He admitted that playing the role of Arif was an interesting challenge as he's full of life, has his flaws, but is someone with big dreams. The 33-year-old added that films were a huge part of his world growing up, and this story took him back to those actor Gulshan Grover also spoke about his character and said, 'Playing Mahesh Kumar was like revisiting an era I've personally witnessed evolving." Gulshan added that his character is commanding, calculative, and has built his world on influence and Kyrstle Dsouza said she plays the role of Mona, who is a woman who wears different masks. She expressed that it was refreshing for her to portray a woman who refuses to disappear despite the world telling her that she's past her prime. She added 'First Copy' gave her the space to portray those quiet emotions.
