JENNIE Melts Down on ‘Hot Ones,' But Thinks BLACKPINK's Jisoo Would Crush the Spicy Challenge: Watch
JENNIE had a pretty rough time taking on the infamous Hot Ones challenge. During her appearance on the web series Thursday (June 19), the BLACKPINK star — who admitted early on that she doesn't eat spicy food — began the episode with optimism, but ended up crying for help and running tearful laps around the table after facing the fiery spate of wings. 'I don't like spicy food or anything to do with spice. If anything, I like things plain, but here I am, facing my fear.' And face it she did. Things got painfully intense as the 29-year-old powered through the spice-laden challenge, following in the footsteps of her BLACKPINK bandmates ROSÉ and LISA, who had previously braved the wings of death in past episodes. Between interview questions about her debut solo album, Ruby, songs she fought for on the project, the importance of skincare, hearing fans sing her lyrics at concerts, and being a hamster mom, the singer and rapper visibly unraveled with each increasingly scorching bite. 'I think I'm allergic to spice!' she said at one point. The heat hit a whole new level when JENNIE reached wing No. 8, featuring the notorious Da' Bomb hot sauce. 'This is no joke,' she said, desperately grabbing a napkin to fan herself. After taking a dramatic lap around the table, she reached for milk and ice cream while screaming in agony. 'I can't hear anymore,' she said, forcing a smile. 'God, help me!' After somewhat regaining her composure, Evans asked if JENNIE might be able to convince JISOO — the only BLACKPINK member who hasn't yet appeared on Hot Ones — to take on the challenge. '100%, because she is the one who taught me spicy and she's the other you,' JENNIE replied. 'Like she made me eat spicy food with her. Ever since we were trainees. So, I think [Jisoo] should come on this show. You're gonna love it.' Reflecting on her bandmates' appearances, she added, 'Whatever ROSÉ and LISA did, this is the real reaction. Everything ROSÉ, LISA, JENNIE & JISOO Have Said About BLACKPINK's Upcoming Reunion
Over the past two-ish years, BLINKs have definitely missed seeing their favorite lovesick girls together. But this summer, the ladies of BLACKPINK will finally be a unit once more, with ROSÉ, LISA, JENNIE and JISOO set to return with a world tour and new music after taking time off to pursue solo projects. Though details of just how and when it would happen remained hazy for many months during their time apart, it was finally announced in February that BLACKPINK would hit the road as a band for the first time since 2022-2023's Born Pink World Tour, embarking on a run of stadium dates kicking off July 5 in Goyang, South Korea. As that first show has gotten closer, a couple of the women have also dropped hints about new music in the works, with the K-pop girl group last releasing an album — Billboard 200-topper Born Pink — in October 2022. But, despite their eagerness to get back together, the BLACKPINK members have also talked about how important it was for each of them to take time for themselves. During which, ROSÉ, LISA and JENNIE all released debut solo albums — Rosie, Alter Ego and Ruby, respectively — each climbing to the top 10 of the Billboard 200, while JISOO dropped a solo EP titled Amortage and focused on acting projects. As a result, each member has something new to bring to their group dynamic, and fans will finally get to see that in action very soon. While we wait for the big day, keep reading to see everything the foursome has said about reuniting — from getting back in the studio together to joining forces on stage again — below. In her Billboard cover story, Lisa told writer Nolan Feeney that she's basically counting down the days until she gets to work with her bandmates again. 'I can't wait,' she said at the time. 'We know each other so well and know how much energy we have to put into every single project,' she continued. 'So we want to support and say, 'You did really well!' Like, JENNIE and Rosie just released their own songs, and we're on texts, we're on FaceTime. They're like family. I'm just so happy that they're releasing something. This is what we all wanted to do, so I just wanted to say that I really do love their songs.' In a candid conversation with Apple Music 1's Zane Lowe, ROSÉ said that she felt a lot of 'pressure' on making their time apart count. 'As BLACKPINK, as mature as we are, we got together and decided, 'Let's promise ourselves a good year to be inspired,'' she explained. 'The first thing that happened was anxiety, because I was privileged to have this one year in my hands to do whatever I wanted with it, but I wanted it to be the right decision and it had to feel right …,' she continued. 'What if I don't believe in my thing? And what if I'm in a place where I'm having to do things that I don't feel like it's me?' Noting that she and her bandmates are always in touch via group chat, JENNIE told Billboard deputy editor Lyndsey Havens in her January 2025 cover story that she's 'missed the girls.' 'I've missed doing tours with them. I miss our silly moments,' she elaborated. 'I'm excited to see what everyone brings. You know, everyone took their own journey [during] this time, and I'm excited to share that with the girls. I want to say it's going to be the most powerful [versions] of ourselves that anyone has seen.' Speaking to Billboard to celebrate the release of Amortage, JISOO said that she and her bandmates were in communication about their hopes for their reunion. 'Last year, as each member focused on individual activities, we all grew a lot,' she said at the time. 'Now, as we come together for this year, I feel like we'll be able to return with an even bigger and more spectacular presence.' 'Everyone's excited about it, and we've been sharing ideas,' she added. 'We've already done a lot of preparations for this year.' In an interview with The Cut, ROSÉ laid out her band's musical plans plainly: 'We will be coming out with new music soon,' she told the publication. 'We just knew there was no reason for us to stop it, right?' the 'APT.' singer added. 'As much as we all needed some time to go out and explore and be our own people, we still have business left to do. We've got to do some more damage.' When pressed for BLACKPINK tour spoilers during an interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, JENNIE was tight-lipped. 'I can't say anything!' she said before confessing, 'There's still so much to do for us to make this happen.' 'It's coming — it's coming, guys,' added the star. In an interview with Variety, LISA revealed that she and her bandmates had been 'in the studio a few days ago,' noting, 'We're all so super excited to get back together and go on tour.' ROSÉ of BLACKPINK Gets ‘Messy' on New Single for ‘F1' Film Soundtrack: Watch the Video
The race to ROSÉ's new song is over, with the BLACKPINK star unveiling 'Messy' for the F1 soundtrack, along with an accompanying music video, on Thursday (May 8). In the sleek visual, the New Zealand-born performer walks through various nighttime cityscapes, strutting down a glistening street past a crowd of people and leaning over the terrace of a high-rise building in between shots of footage from the F1 movie. 'Baby, let's get messy, let's get all the way undone/ Come over and chase me like I've never been touched,' she belts over piano and anthemic percussion, sitting on the floor of a blue-lit room as confetti rains down on her. 'Baby, I'm obsessed with you, and there's no replica/ If it's messy, then you know it's really love.' The K-pop star is now gearing up to reunite with her BLACKPINK bandmates for the first time since their Born Pink trek concluded in 2023, with ROSÉ teasing back in February that they had new music in the works around the same time the girl group announced that a world tour was slated for this summer.
