Siwan (Bihar) [India], June 20 (ANI): Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) national president and Member of Parliament Upendra Kushwaha on Friday claimed that he received death threats from individuals claiming to be members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The threats were allegedly issued over phone calls and text messages late Thursday evening. The RLM leader further said that the caller identified himself as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has been previously linked to high-profile criminal activities across India. Speaking to ANI, Kushwaha informed the media that he received multiple phone calls between 8:52 pm and 9:20 pm from two different mobile numbers. 'Yesterday, I got 2-3 phone calls and a message threatening to kill me in 10 days. The caller claimed that he was from the Bishnoi gang. I have informed the Police, they are investigating,' he said. Kushwaha may be inducted into Modi Cabinet
PATNA: With the Assembly polls fast approaching in Bihar, speculation is rife that Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha may be inducted into PM Narendra Modi's Cabinet during the next round of expansion. The move is reportedly aimed at wooing voters belonging to the Kushwaha community, who account for a sizeable chunk of the population in Shahabad. The region, which comprises Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas and Kaimur districts, has long been a stronghold of the INDI alliance. The BJP-led NDA's poor showing in the region in the 2020 Assembly polls as well as the 2024 Lok Sabha elections may have prompted the step.

Kushwaha holds rally in Muz, disregards‘4-5 seats' media buzz as distraction
Patna: Rajya Sabha member and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) president, Upendra Kushwaha , while addressing a rally in Muzaffarpur on Sunday expressed annoyance over media speculations about offer of "four-five seats" to his party under the seat-sharing formula, stating that "his politics is for change, not for posts". He said he would continue raising issues concerning the common people, no matter how many troubles come his way. His rally is being billed as a "show of strength" to bargain for more seats as the NDA gets busy with finalising the seat-sharing. Addressing the "Samvaidhanik Adhikar-Parisiman Sudhar" rally, Kushwaha said he never cared about seats since he enjoys the "people's power". "Four-five seats…Upendra Kushwaha kabhi iski chinta nahin karta hai (I never worry about it)," Kushwaha said, adding, for him issues are more important and that he would continue raising them come what may. He said if compromising with people's issues leads to a post, it is better to remain without such a post. Citing examples, Kushwaha, who served as a Union minister of state during the first term of PM Narendra Modi, said Mahatma Gandhi, Babasaheb Ambedkar, and Jayaprakash Narayan could have got any post, but they gave first priority to the people's issues. "Main pad nahin, parivartan ke liye rajniti karta hun (My politics is for change, not for any posts)," he said, alleging that the "seat issue" was being deliberately raised to divert the people's attention from the core issues. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 관절염 발생률 99% 감소 "이것" 마시기만 했더니 '손목/허리/무릎 통증 사라져" hoguanwon Undo Strongly advocating for delimitation, he said the lack of this exercise was causing a great loss to the state. "If the delimitation process was carried out on time, the number of Lok Sabha seats in Bihar would have gone up to 60, leading to increased representation of scheduled castes and women, but this has been hanging fire," Kushwaha said, warning of launching an agitation against "gross injustice" to the state. JDU may edge out BJP in Bihar seat-sharing deal; good news for Chirag Paswan
The BJP and its allies are expected to map out a seat-sharing agreement for the high-stakes Bihar assembly elections along the lines of their arrangement from the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, sources familiar with the discussions National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar comprises the BJP, Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United), Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awami Morcha (HAM), and Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM).advertisementIn the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP contested 17 seats, JD(U) 16, LJP(RV) 5, and HAM and RLM one each. While the BJP had a slight edge in the parliamentary polls, sources said the JD(U) is expected to contest one or two more seats than the BJP this time around. According to sources, out of the 243 assembly seats, the JD(U) could contest 102-103 seats, and the BJP 101-102. The remaining 40 seats will be distributed among Chirag Paswan's LJP, HAM, and its five-member representation in Parliament, the LJP is expected to get the lion's share among the smaller allies and may contest 25 to 28 assembly seats. HAM is likely to receive 6 to 7 seats, while RLM may be allotted 4 to 5 seats, sources seat distribution is being shaped by internal BJP surveys conducted earlier this year across all Bihar assembly constituencies to gauge the political sentiment. These findings will form the basis not only for seat allocation but also for the selection of candidates, with the goal of fielding the strongest contender in each constituency, insiders previously told India also said that these survey results are also expected to influence decisions on the allocation of Cabinet berths should the NDA secure a victory in the Bihar assembly polls, which are likely to be held in by its winning streak in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Delhi, the BJP is aiming to replicate its poll performance in Bihar. Party strategists are also considering announcing candidates ahead of the announcement of election dates—a strategy used effectively in several past state Watch

As the NDA's allies in Bihar posture over seat sharing, the BJP plans its strategy
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is viewing statements by its Bihar partners in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) — Chirag Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas (LJP-Ram Vilas), and Upendra Kushwaha of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) — as a sign that they are buckling down for a hard bargain in seat sharing ahead of the Assembly election in the State. Over the last few days, politics has heated up within the Bihar chapter of the NDA. First, Union Minister Chirag Paswan dropped hints that he might be amenable to fighting the Assembly election, increasing his stakes in any future government formation, should the NDA win. Later, his brother-in-law and Lok Sabha MP Arun Bharti declared that Mr. Paswan should fight from a General Category seat rather than one reserved for the Scheduled Castes, projecting that Mr. Paswan had an appeal across castes in the complicated Bihar electoral landscape, and attempting to raise his profile. The RLM had its own message to give with regard to its bigger ally, the BJP. At a public meeting last week, RLM chief and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha alluded to the fact that forces from within the NDA had jeopardised his Lok Sabha election from Karakat, leading to his loss from there. He warned that such sabotage from within would hurt those who were behind it as well. 'If Upendra Kushwaha sinks, then you too shall sink, since we are on the same boat,' he had said. While not naming names, it was clear that the allusion was to Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, who does not get along with Mr. Kushwaha, the latter's supporters say. 'The Kurmi-Koeri-Kushwaha vote, of non-Yadav OBCs (Other Backward Classes) now has all these other claimants, who are jostling for space within the same alliance,' an RLM office-bearer said, explaining Mr. Kushwaha's apprehensions, and his antipathy to Mr. Choudhary. Mostly, however, the BJP is viewing these statements, and plans by both the LJP and RLM chiefs to hold further public meetings around June 8, as positing for seat sharing. 'Chirag Paswan has already told his people that he wants a samman janak (respectable) number of seats from the NDA kitty. His calculations are that since he has five Lok Sabha MPs, he should get six seats for each, that is, 30 Assembly seats — which will not happen. At best, the BJP will offer him 22-25 seats,' a senior source in the BJP said. Mr. Kushwaha is also looking for more seats for his party as a lone ranger with a party named Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (in alliance with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen or AIMIM, and the Bahujan Samaj Party or BSP). In the 2020 Assembly election, he failed to win a single seat but showed a decent amount of presence in several Assembly seats. He later merged his party with the Janata Dal-United (JD-U), only to separate from the JD(U) and form the RLM. At an earlier NDA meeting held by the BJP's national president J.P. Nadda, Mr. Kushwaha had counselled unity within the alliance as they faced-off against the Mahagathbandhan 'grand alliance' consisting of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Congress, and the Communist Party of India-Marxist-Leninist (CPI-ML). Mr. Nadda's allies, however, seem to be settling down for a tough negotiation on seats.
