Lalu Yadav, Tejashwi hit back at PM Modi, demand 20-year report card of NDA govt

Patna: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Congress over alleged "jungle raj", "corruption", and "dynastic politics" during his rally at Bihar's Siwan on Friday, the RJD leadership launched a sharp counterattack, questioning the Prime Minister's own legacy and the performance of the double-engine government in the state. Lalu Prasad Yadav took a swipe at the Prime Minister with a sarcastic weather warning posted on social media platform X. Sharing an AI-generated video mocking PM Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the RJD supremo wrote: "Weather warning in the interest of Bihar -- Today there is a heavy rain of lies, slogans and confusion in Bihar, hailstorms of false and tempting promises are also falling with thunder. Be careful." Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav also took to social media to issue a pointed rebuttal, challenging the Prime Minister to present a 20-year report card of the NDA's governance in Bihar and his own leadership at the Centre. He posted a graphic with the headline: "PM Modi, give an answer in the election tour of Bihar and a full account of 20 years." Accompanying the poster, he tweeted: "Sir, don't lie, give the account of 20 years." In a series of tough questions, Tejashwi wrote: "Despite having a double-engine government for 20 years in Bihar and your leadership at the Centre for 11 years, why does Bihar still rank lowest in terms of poverty, unemployment, per capita income, investment, literacy, and industrial development as per your own NITI Aayog and national reports?" He also credited his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, for establishing key institutions in the Tirhut division. "Lalu Yadav established JP University and three major railway factories, including the Marhaura rail engine factory that is now exporting locomotives abroad?" he said. Tejashwi also said: "Will you tell the people of Bihar that during your 20 years of rule, more than one lakh people have been murdered, and over one lakh girls raped? Will you be ashamed to call this your achievement or ignore it as usual?" He also asked why poverty, unemployment, rampant crime, crime against women, corruption, migration, 'Damadvaad' (Brother-in-law) and other issues are still taking place in Bihar. He even compared Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's current condition to past criticisms by PM Modi. Friday marked PM Modi's fifth visit to Bihar in 2025, where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs 5,736 crore in Siwan. With Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for later this year, national political activity in the state has surged.

Nitish appreciates PM Modi for assistance to Bihar in development projects

Siwan, June 20 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the assistance being given to Bihar by the Centre for execution of development projects, which has helped the state to move on the fast track of growth at an accelerated pace. Kumar, addressing a public meeting here in the presence of Prime Minister Modi on the dais, said the Centre was giving all required assistance to Bihar for execution of various development projects, during the tenure of PM Modi. In sectors ranging from infrastructural facilities to tourism and agriculture, the required assistance was being given to Bihar by the Centre, at the initiative of the PM, he added. "In the 2024 Union Budget after the Lok Sabha elections, financial assistance was given to Bihar for flood control," the Chief Minister said, adding that constitution of the Makhana Board was proposed in the 2025 Union Budget to boost the agriculture sector in Mithila region of Bihar. Airports, Medical Colleges and Road projects were also given the green signal in the Union Budget to boost development and growth rate of Bihar, he added. Kumar appreciated the decision of Modi to go for a national level caste census along with a general census. It was a big decision having far reaching consequences, he noted. The Chief Minister said there was complete lawlessness during the RJD regime in Bihar till 2005, when his government was voted to power. The NDA comprising JD(U) and BJP got the opportunity to serve people of Bihar in 2005 and he was making sustained efforts, as head of the government, to ensure qualitative change in all sectors of the state, he added. "Bihar was the first state to give 50 percent reservation to women in Panchayati Raj and local bodies," Kumar said, adding that the condition of women in Bihar was pathetic during the RJD regime. It was pleasant to see that women were making progress in all sectors with rapid pace, he stated. UNI KKS RN

Nitish Kumar thanks PM Modi, highlights NDA's achievements in Bihar

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of key infrastructure and development projects in the state on Friday. Addressing the massive crowd gathered at the venue, Nitish Kumar said, 'It is a matter of great happiness that the Prime Minister has come to Siwan. I warmly welcome and congratulate him.' He listed the projects being launched, which include 22 urban development projects, six road projects, a rail project, and the launch of two new trains, including the Vande Bharat Express, and the first export of a locomotive from Bihar's Madhura rail factory. Nitish emphasised that Bihar stands to gain significantly from these initiatives. In a veiled attack on the RJD, Nitish Kumar remarked: 'People are talking 'nonsense' these days. It is meaningless. They should be asked what the condition of Bihar was before our government. No one could even step outside their homes. Look at today, so many people, including women and youth, have gathered here to listen to the Prime Minister.' He highlighted the longstanding partnership between JDU and BJP, recalling that since November 24, 2005, the NDA alliance has continuously worked for Bihar's development. Nitish underscored the state government's work in the sectors of education, health, and especially women's empowerment. 'We gave 50 per cent reservation to women. We constructed bridges, ensured tap water and electricity under Saat Nischay (Seven Resolves), and built toilets in every home. Even new houses and settlements are being provided with facilities,' Kumar said. He also mentioned employment efforts: 'Government jobs were provided to thousands of youth, both men and women. I have personally inspected development work across the state and cleared 430 new schemes. Work has already started in Siwan, Gopalganj, and Saran.' The rally marked PM Modi's fifth visit to Bihar in 2025, as the state heads toward assembly elections later this year.

"Rain Of Lies": Lalu Yadav Posts AI Video Of PM Modi, Nitish Kumar Dancing

New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav today released a 'Bihar AI' parody video taking swipes at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to the state where the assembly election is scheduled to be held later this year. The video has a mix of lookalikes created using artificial intelligence software and genuine footage from PM Modi's public events. A song that accompanied the video repeatedly mentioned the words "jumlo ki baarish" - a familiar line that the Opposition has been using while criticising PM Modi and his party, BJP. "Weather warning in the interest of Bihar - today, there will be heavy rain of lies, false promises and illusions in Bihar, hailstones of false and tempting promises along with thunder, be careful," Lalu Yadav wrote in Hindi in the post on X. The video also features AI lookalikes of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and PM Modi dancing together in rain and in front of a bridge that had crumbled. Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United), or JD(U), is a member of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The JD(U) was also briefly with the opposition's Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) before he returned to the NDA family. Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD MLA and Lalu Yadav's son, was portrayed in the video as a leader who helped the common people. In one scene, an AI rendition of Tejashwi Yadav was shown helping an old woman pick up a heavy cane basket full of fruit. #Bihar #TejashwiYadav #RJD — Lalu Prasad Yadav (@laluprasadrjd) June 20, 2025 The RJD's parody video comes amid PM Modi's fresh attack alluding to Lalu Yadav over the RJD chief's alleged insult to BR Ambedkar during his birthday celebrations recently. At a rally in Bihar's Siwan today, PM Modi referred to the instance of a portrait of BR Ambedkar being placed close to the feet of Lalu Yadav, for which the RJD leader has been drawing criticism from the NDA. "Ambedkar was against dynasty rule. But they (RJD and its allies) do not like it. So they have his portrait placed at their feet. On my way, I saw posters demanding an apology for this insult to Babasaheb," PM Modi said at the Siwan rally. "But there has been no apology. This is because they hold Dalits in contempt. In contrast, Modi has Babasaheb in his heart and would like to keep his portrait close to his chest," the Prime Minister said. The RJD said the controversy began due to the "camera angle" at Lalu Yadav's house while his 78th birthday celebration was going on earlier this month. The party said Lalu Yadav's feet were on a sofa because of "medical advice", and a party supporter stood close carrying the portrait of BR Ambedkar.
