Orlando Pirates slap price tag on Mofokeng as North Africa lingers!

Orlando Pirates will surely be feeling several clubs breathing down their neck for the services of starboy Relebohile Mofokeng. That's perhaps why they have finally named their price – around R31.2 million – for the 20-year-old sensation, a whopping R5.5 million more than the bid from Zamalek FC they rejected during the summer window. 'Orlando Pirates [are] demanding about 1.5 million euros (approx. R31.2 million) for the 20-year-old talent, as well as a percentage of any future sale,' SoccerLaduma confirmed. From North Africa to Europe, Orlando Pirates have presumably been inundated with Mofokeng-enquiries. The likes of Ah Alhy, Maccabi Haifa, Barcelona FC and Glasgow Rangers have been linked with the winger. Fueling further speculation off an offseason exit is the player's father, Sechaba, who believes now is the perfect time to flock South Africa and integrate with game's biggest leagues. 'My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026. I'm praying every day. I don't want to see him in the Betway Premiership again this season. I know God will answer my prayers,' Sechaba said. [Whether it's in] Spain, England, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Switzerland — Rele can play. I believe that with all my heart. Take him to Barcelona? He can play. PSG? He can play. Any country. I'll be happy — but not Saudi Arabia.' 'Not yet. He's still young. He needs to compete in UEFA competitions. If he goes to Saudi now, he won't experience that. Yes, he'd be rich — but happiness is more important. You can have all the money in the world, but if you're not happy, it's worthless.' Orlando Pirates dismiss reports linking Relebohile Mofokeng with R31m move to Israel

No truth behind Israel rumours, say Pirates Soweto giants Orlando Pirates have dismissed reports linking Relebohile Mofokeng with a move to Israel's Maccabi Tel Aviv. Photo: Phakamisa Lensman/BackpagePix Orlando Pirates have insisted they have received no approach from Israeli giants Maccabi Tel Aviv over the signing of star Relebohile Mofokeng. Reports from Israel emerged earlier this week that Maccabi Tel Aviv had registered their interest to buy Mofokeng, resulting in the club slapping a €1.5 million (R31.2 million) price tag on the youngster, plus a percentage on any future sale. However, according to Soccer Laduma, a 'well-placed insider' at the club denied there had been any contact made with the Israeli club over the sale of the 20-year-old. The insider went as far as calling the speculation over Mofokeng's future 'disruptive'. Attempts by IOL Sport to get an official comment from Orlando Pirates were unsuccessful.

Orlando Pirates could sell Mofokeng to Israeli club for just R31m?

Orlando Pirates could lose talented Relebohile Mofokeng for just R31 million if he gets sold to Maccabi Haifa. The 20-year-old has been described as a generational talent having been the Buccaneers' best player this past season. According to a report by Israeli publication Sport5 , Maccabi Haifa have been monitoring the Bafana Bafana winger for some time and are ready to made a bid 'Orlando Pirates [are] demanding about 1.5 million euros (approx. R31.2 million) for the 20-year-old talent, as well as a percentage of any future sale,' the publication said. The Buccaneers have one of the most talented young players the country has produced. Given Mofokeng's achievent at such a young age, many would think the player is worth more than R31 million. With the team set to jet off to Europe for their pre-season training, Pirates need to expose the young attacker as much as possible to European clubs. A bigger offer might emerge in the coming weeks or months before the transfer window closes. Although R31 million is a lot of money, Orlando Pirates should know that Israel is not the best country for Mofokeng to improve as a player. Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos suggested the player to move to Belgium, Spain, Portugal or the Netherlands. Israeli publication Sport5 reports that Maccabi Haifa have registered an interest in the 20-year-old Mofokeng, who has also been courted by Spanish giants Barcelona recently. As a result, Pirates are said to have slapped a €1.5 million (R31.2 million) price tag on the youngster, plus a percentage on any future sale.
