Injured Superstar Returns To Action Next Week On WWE RAW
Asuka is officially ready to return, and will appear next week in a WWE Queen of the Ring Tournament match. During Monday's episode of WWE RAW, the company confirmed that Asuka would be returning for the tournament. Later in the night, a vignette played that showed off her various career accomplishments. When she returns, she'll be looking to book a ticket into the next round of the Queen of the Ring tournament. Advertisement She'll take part in a Fatal 4-Way match alongside Stephanie Vaquer, Raquel Rodriguez, and Ivy Nile. The winner will advance to the semifinals, with the winner of that then advancing to the finals at WWE's Night of Champions. For Asuka, it'll be her first match in a WWE ring since May 2024, when the superstar revealed she had suffered a knee injury and needed surgery. The legendary figure is a multi-time world champion and tag team champion in WWE, and has held various titles throughout her time in the company. Chelsea Green Got a Heads-Up from Matt Cardona About Her WWE Release in 2021
Chelsea Green revealed that her husband, Matt Cardona, warned her just minutes before WWE officially released. In April 2021, WWE released Chelsea Green along with several other talents. While reflecting on that moment during an appearance on the Lightweights Podcast, Green explained that Cardona called her shortly before she received the news. The news gave her a brief moment to mentally prepare. Advertisement 'Matt called me, like, three minutes before I was fired, and said, 'You're about to get fired.' I don't know how,' Green recalled. 'I'm so glad he did, because it just gave me a split second in my kitchen… to, like, regroup, and be like, 'How am I gonna handle this?'' Chelsea Green immediately went into planning mode After the call, she immediately shifted into planning mode. She made a list of promotions she hadn't had the chance to work with before joining WWE. 'I immediately wrote down all the companies that I had not been able to get to before I got signed the first time. So that was like Ring of Honor and NWA.' She then contacted WWE to request an early release from her contract. 'Then I called WWE back and asked if I could be released from my contract early. So usually we have, you know, 90 days. I asked if I could be released, I believe, like on day 60 or 70, and forego my pay so I could get onto the indies earlier than the group… WWE said yes.' Chelsea Green Replaced In Queen Of The Ring On WWE SmackDown
Chelsea Green wasn't on hand for tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown, and as a result, missed out on her Queen of the Ring qualifying match. During tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown, Green was set to take part in a match against Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, and Candice LeRae. However, SmackDown GM was interrupted by Green's crew backstage. In a FaceTime with Green, she said she couldn't find an acceptable flight to the 'one-horse town' of Lexington, Kentucky. Advertisement As a result, she couldn't make it, and asked Aldis to postpone the match. Aldis was having none of it, though, and said that wouldn't be happening. Instead, it would Alba Fyre, who was available, to take her part. Green tried to protest, but Aldis was hearing none of it. The winners of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will receive a respective championship match at WWE SummerSlam. To determine the finals, each brand will have two four-way matches, with superstars advancing. Semifinals for the tournament will also begin a cross-brand competition. King and Queen of the Ring was last held last year, with its own official event also in Saudi Arabia. That show saw Gunther defeat Randy Orton in the King of the Ring tournament, while Nia Jax beat Lyra Valkyria in the Queen of the Ring final. WWE Announces The Return Of King & Queen Of The Ring
WWE is officially bringing back King and Queen of the Ring again. During Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown, the company revealed that the show would be coming back. Raw general manager Adam Pearce and SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis also were on hand for the announcement. Advertisement They revealed that tournaments for the show would begin next week, with the finals taking place on June 28, 2025, at WWE Night of Champions, which takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Legendary pro wrestling announcer Jim Ross reveals heartbreaking cancer diagnosis
AEW announcer and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has colon cancer. The 73-year-old Ross revealed the news and let wrestling fans know what's coming next in a social media post on Thursday. 'Diagnosed this week with colon cancer,' Ross wrote on X. 'Surgery being scheduled in the next week or two. I appreciate your concern and support.' Getty Images It's the second time Ross, who has Bell's palsy, has been diagnosed with cancer in recent years. In October of 2021, Ross announced that he had skin cancer. In December of that year, Ross revealed that he had beaten cancer and would return to AEW's airwaves.
