A study has revealed the 20 lowest-rated McDonald's restaurants in the UK, based on franchise locations with the biggest percentage of one-star ratings. Research was conducted by QR Code Generator which involved looking at the percentage of ratings on Google reviews for every McDonald's restaurant in the nation. Marc Porcar, CEO of QR Code Generator said: 'According to a YouGov survey, McDonald's is in the top three most popular dining brands in the UK for 2025, beating out its competitors such as Burger King and KFC. Only Greggs is favoured more than the double arches among millennials, highlighting many young Brits' favour for affordable, on-the-go bites. ChatGPT outage sent users to DeepSeek — here's 5 prompts to test it for yourself
When OpenAI's ChatGPT went down early yesterday (June 10) during a global outage, users didn't wait around — they started exploring the best ChatGPT alternatives. According to a Google Trends analysis shared by QR Code Generator, searches for alternative chatbots spiked as ChatGPT remained offline. One name stood out: DeepSeek, a lesser-known but powerful AI assistant built for reasoning, code generation and creative tasks. It saw the biggest traffic jump of all alternative chatbots — a 109% increase in daily searches, leaping from 1.02 million to 2.13 million queries in a single day. Other AI platforms saw gains too. Searches for Claude AI nearly doubled (up 95%), while Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot also surged by 80% and 52%, respectively. 'Today's global outage of ChatGPT shows the importance of diversification,' said Marc Porcar, CEO of QR Code Generator PRO S.L. 'The immediate 109% surge in DeepSeek searches and 95% increase for Claude shows that users are actively seeking alternatives rather than simply waiting.' That shift could mark a turning point in the AI landscape. While ChatGPT has long dominated the generative AI space, this incident shows just how quickly users will pivot when a platform goes dark. And with a recent update, DeepSeek is outperforming other models in industry bencharks, proving it is a serious contender to a ChatGPT alternative. DeepSeek is a Chinese-developed large language model that excels in technical, analytical, and creative tasks. It supports long context windows, handles reasoning-intensive prompts with surprising accuracy and offers a dedicated coding assistant through DeepSeek-Coder. For anyone trying the platform for the first time, here are five prompts that show what DeepSeek can do as you explore alternatives to ChatGPT. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Prompt: "Explain quantum computing to a 10-year-old.' DeepSeek is great at translating difficult subjects into age-appropriate explanations. You can also tailor the tone to match an audience, from elementary school to expert level. I use this prompt all the time to both understand things myself as well as explain complex topics to my kids. Prompt: "Here's my Python script for web scraping. Can you optimize it?' I am not a serious coder, but occasionally I do need to write or improve my Python scripts. DeepSeek comes in handy for this, particularly DeepSeek-Coder as it is particularly strong at parsing code, suggesting improvements and even generating end-to-end scripts based on a few lines of input. Prompt: "Write a 500-word blog post about the benefits of cold showers with SEO keywords included.' Need to crank out content? DeepSeek's copywriting skills are solid, especially when prompted with structure and clear goals. I don't recommend any chatbot for exclusive content writing, but if you use this prompt in conjunction with your own first draft, it can help fill in some of the details you missed and help with grammatical or spelling errors. Prompt: "Make a 10-question multiple choice quiz about the American Revolution.'Perfect for students, teachers or trivia fans, this prompt turns DeepSeek into a custom quiz generator. Prompt: "Simulate a debate between two experts: one for and one against AI regulation.'Use this for research, writing or just seeing both sides of a hot-button issue. ChatGPT's outage may have caused frustration — but it also spotlighted a key truth. Users don't just want one chatbot, they want options. With tools like DeepSeek and Claude rapidly improving and gaining visibility, we're seeing the AI space evolve beyond just one dominant name. Whether you're testing alternatives out of necessity or curiosity, this moment is a reminder: when one chatbot goes down, there are numerous others ready and available, most of which are free.

The simple Vinted packing trick that stops buyers scamming you and means you won't be out of pocket
YOU'D be hard pushed to find someone these days who hasn't tried their luck on Vinted - with some even managing to turn reselling into their entire career. However, there are some downsides to selling on the app, such as scams when buyers say they haven't received the item you've sold them. 2 2 But there's a clever way to avoid that happening, and it's really easy too. Double wrapping your sales means you've abided by Vinted's packaging rule, and could swing a dispute in your favour if someone claims they've received an empty bag. "As a seller, it's crucial you double wrap your items before shipping," Marc Porcar, CEO of QR Code Generator, explained. "Otherwise, Vinted is likely to side with the buyer, and you may end up without the item or payment. "Vinted's packaging rules state double wrapping, and by following them you can help tip the balance in your favour if a buyer lies about not receiving an item." If you're worried that paying out for mailing bags isn't the most environmentally-friendly approach, you can reuse packaging from previous deliveries to avoid contributing to landfill sites. Another way you can reduce your risk of being scammed is to collect photographic evidence. "Take a series of clear photos while packaging and shipping your packages to use if a buyer falsely claims an item wasn't received," Marc continued. "Some Vinted sellers record themselves wrapping the package, ensuring visual proof of what was included and confirming that you followed the double wrapping practice. "This can help strengthen your case for disputes." I've made £200 on Vinted in 24 hours - the 9 items that are flipping FAST & the retro product to always pick up The photos you need to take are: the item before packaging, the item inside the package, the sealed package with the shipping label attached, and the package at the drop-off point. If you can take a snap which shows the person's address on the shipping label too, it helps make the package identifiable - which will also strengthen a case. "If shipping via a post office that weighs the package, take a photo of the weight at home and again at the counter to help verify the item packaged," Marc added. "Mentioning to the buyer that the package has been shipped with photographic evidence recorded may help deter any scammers." New Vinted rules to be aware of IF you fancy clearing out your wardrobe and getting rid of your old stuff on Vinted, you'll need to consider the new rules that recently came into play. If people are selling personal items for less than they paid new (which is generally the case for second-hand sales), there is no impact on tax. However, since January 1, digital platforms, including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted, must share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown. You're unlikely to be affected if you only sell a handful of second-hand items online each year - generally, only business sellers trading for profit might need to pay tax. A tax-free allowance of £1,000 has been in place since 2017 for business sellers trading for profit - the only time that an individual personal item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is a profit from the sale. However, firms now have to pass on your data to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn over £1,700. It is part of a wider tax crackdown to help ensure that those who boost their income via side hustles pay up what they owe. While your data won't be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you'll still need to pay tax as normal.
