QRCS distributes Udhiya meat to over 737,000 people in 16 countries

Tribune News Network Doha Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has successfully concluded its 1446 AH Eid Al-Adha Campaign under the theme 'Udhiyah... Is Blessing'. Implemented on behalf of benevolent donors from Qatar, the campaign distributed approximately 24,000 sacrificial animals (Udhiyah) in Qatar and 15 countries across Asia and Africa, benefiting nearly 737,000 people. The project was launched to fulfil the religious duty of Udhiyah during the designated days of Eid while also spreading joy and relief among underprivileged families, displaced individuals, and refugees in need. This year's campaign was marked by efficient planning and swift execution, thanks to the efforts of QRCS's skilled field teams and reliable local partners. Despite logistical challenges in some areas, the sacrificial rituals were carried out in strict compliance with Islamic guidelines. Meat distribution and transportation followed the highest standards of safety and quality. Animals were selected, slaughtered, preserved, and distributed by specialised teams to ensure timely delivery to beneficiaries. The meat distribution brought immense joy to recipients, whether delivered directly to their homes or collected from local distribution points. For QRCS, this initiative is not only a religious obligation but also a powerful expression of social cohesion, purification of the soul, and compassion toward the most vulnerable. In his statement, Faisal Mohammed Al Emadi, secretary-general of QRCS, said: 'The Udhiyah campaign achieved remarkable success in demonstrating the values of solidarity and compassion. We extend our sincere gratitude to all our donors and supporters. The success of this campaign is a result of our collective dedication and the professionalism of our field teams. We promised to deliver your Udhiyah to those in need and we fulfilled that promise.' In Qatar QRCS distributed meat from 425 sacrificed sheep to 575 vulnerable families (around 3,000 individuals) registered under the Community Care Section. The animals were slaughtered at Al-Wakra and Umm Salal abattoirs in partnership with Widam Food Company during the second and third days of Eid. International Reach QRCS's campaign extended to 15 countries in Africa and Asia, bringing joy and relief to people facing displacement, economic hardship, and loss of livelihood. Syria: 194 sheep were slaughtered and distributed to 2,900 displaced families (around 14,500 people) in camps in northern Idlib, in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent. Yemen: 4,833 displaced and vulnerable families (24,165 beneficiaries) across Aden, Abyan, Hajjah, and Al-Bayda received meat from sacrificial animals. Jordan: 712 Syrian refugee and host community families (3,560 people) in Amman, Zarqa, and Mafraq were supported through 11 distribution points in coordination with the Jordan Red Crescent. Niger: 515 families (34,502 individuals) benefited in Niamey and Tillabéri through local partnerships. Gaza: Canned Meat Awaiting Border Access Amid the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, exacerbated by over 21 months of conflict and more than four months of complete border closure, QRCS prioritised the people of Gaza in this year's Udhiyah campaign. A total of 12,810 Udhiyah were allocated for the enclave, benefiting around 525,000 individuals. The first phase of the operation was carried out in compliance with Islamic rites: animals were selected, inspected, slaughtered, and then processed into partially cooked canned meat with broth. These food packages are ready for delivery and will be sent into Gaza as soon as border crossings reopen.

He emphasized that the campaign would be implemented up to the highest standards of quality and transparency, expressing thanks to RACA and the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs for their effective role in making this campaign happen and facilitating all administrative and organizing procedures, while thanking everyone who helped them bring the joy of Eid to the hearts of those in need during such a spiritual religious time. Tribune News Network Doha With funding from Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs, phase 2 of the 'Road to Stability'—an initiative aimed at supporting the poorest Lebanese families affected by the recent war on Lebanon—has been launched. The overall purpose of the project is to enhance the financial stability of the most vulnerable Lebanese and Syrian families in Lebanon. Earlier, phase 1 had been completed for the benefit of Syrian refugee families in Lebanon, in collaboration with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). This newly launched phase, which focuses on the affected Lebanese families, is funded by QFFD and implemented in partnership with Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs. Based on regular assessments and surveys conducted by the ministry to identify the most affected people, 3,325 Lebanese families were selected to receive monthly cash aid for three months. It is another episode of the constructive collaboration between QRCS and Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs as part of the country's social safety net programmes, designed to empower the families most in need and enhance their resilience. The launch of phase 2 was held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar's Ambassador to Lebanon. During the ceremony, the participants expressed their hope that this cooperation would serve as an effective model for unified humanitarian efforts, thanks to the generous support from QFFD and close coordination among Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs, QRCS, and other humanitarian partners in Lebanon. In his keynote speech on behalf of QFFD, HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said, 'This project comes at a time when Lebanon is experiencing critical circumstances, which entails lending a hand for the country to come through the recent crises and wars. The project's name indicates the importance of stability sought by all the Lebanese people, as well as Qatar's keenness to preserve it with unlimited support, for Lebanon to further pursue progress and recovery.' Hanin Al-Sayed, Lebanon's Minister of Social Affairs, stated, 'I would like to express my deep appreciation to QRCS, which has always been committed to professional and dignity-respecting humanitarianism. We owe a debt of gratitude to QFFD and the government and people of Qatar for this significant contribution, which is a testimony to the humanitarian, social, economic, and developmental ties between our two nations'. Mohamed Ahmed Al-Beshri, assistant secretary-general for communication and fundraising at QRCS, commented, 'This project is not just a technical intervention or financial support. It is a true manifestation of our humanitarian and fraternal responsibility towards the families who suffer from harsh living conditions. Human dignity is indivisible. Standing up for the most vulnerable people is a moral duty underlying our institutional endeavors. We at QRCS believe that sustainable partnerships built on mutual trust are the solid foundation for any successful humanitarian intervention. We are proud of our strong partnership with Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs and highly value the substantial and continuous contributions by QFFD, our strategic and permanent partner in the humanitarian journey.'
