Kendall Jenner's tequila brand is hosting a West Village bar crawl for the Solstice

We did it! Tomorrow is summer solstice, the longest day of the year. To celebrate our extra hours, sun-loving New Yorkers can soak up sizzling rays on Manhattan's new beach, party like a Swede, or (perhaps most enticing) sip the best margaritas in NYC. If Kendal Jenner has her way, all the West Village girlies and their besties will flock to her tequila-fueled bar crawl across Lower Manhattan. Beginning Friday, June 20, the notorious star's liquor brand 818 Tequila will host a 'Sip Into Summer' series all weekend long, featuring notable watering holes like historic White Horse Tavern and full glam Sweet Linda, among others mapped below. Slip out of the office early to toast the official start of summer with tequila cocktails like spicy watermelon margaritas and tequila mules — maybe encourage your coworkers to cut loose, too. Even St. Tropez Wine Bar, the Provençal grape destination, created a custom cocktail called Spicy Solstice to set your summer nights ablaze. Of course, event organizers hope you hop across lower Manhattan to taste every agave concoction, but you could always park it at your favorite spot to take full advantage of happy hour drink specials. Downtown at Blue Haven South, the 818 Daisy (tequila, citrus, liqueur) is only $12, while White Horse Tavern will be slinging refreshing cucumber margaritas for $17. Most other drinks on the boozy path ring up between $19 and $22. Check out the full list of participating bars: West Village Arthur & Sons (38 Eighth Ave) White Horse Tavern (567 Hudson St) Lume (259 W 4th St) St. Tropez Wine Bar (304 W4th St) Nolita Beyond the Pale (53 Spring St) East Village Sweet Linda (9 Second Ave) FiDi Blue Haven South (121 Fulton St) Lower East Side Bar Belly (14 Orchard St) Pardon Me (162 Orchard St)

Six new writers announced for Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize 2025 Shortlist

From tales of first love to hedonistic holidays, the 2025 Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize shortlist reveals six new voices in fiction, including a first-ever nomination for a translated novel The 2025 Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize shortlist has finally been announced and it features novels spanning across a vast range of topics and genres. Currently in its fourth year, the Debut Fiction Prize is voted for by Waterstones booksellers, with the honour being awarded to exceptional debut novels and highlights the value of discovering and championing new talent. Serving as an extension to booksellers' word-of-mouth recommendations, the award celebrates fiction in all its forms. Six debut novels and their authors have been shortlisted this year, including a first-ever nomination for a translated book. From rural Ireland to the Provençal countryside, straight into the heart of London and New York's metropolis via a holy Indian river and then through a Swedish cabin — this year's shortlist takes readers to lands far and beyond. Waterstones Head of Books, Bea Carvalho, said in a statement: 'We are delighted to present six astonishingly impressive and inspiring new voices as this year's nominees. "Our shortlist tackles weighty themes and has a lot of fun along the way, celebrating art and transgression, first love and hedonistic summer holidays, and the joy of chosen family. We love these books and look forward to championing these six writers for a long time to come.' After being announced as last year's winner, Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon quickly soared up the bestseller charts and provided Ferdia with a much larger platform — leading to several accolades and further recognition for the debut author. Ferdia went on to get nominated for many major prizes including the Waterstones Book of the Year, the BAMB Fiction award, the Dylan Thomas Prize, and the Nero Book Awards. Before Ferdia Lennon's 2024 win, the Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize was awarded to Alice Winn in 2023 for her novel In Memoriam and to Tess Gunty's The Rabbit Hutch in 2022. Tess' novel also went on to win the 2022 National Book Award for Fiction, while Tess bagged the Indiana Authors Awards in 2024. Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize 2025 Shortlist Confessions by Catherine Airey Mining girlhood, womanhood and the delicate spot in between with elegance and urgency, Airey's striking debut follows a teenager orphaned by the 9/11 attack as she comes in contact with her estranged family in small town Ireland. Ordinary Saints by Niamh Ní Mhaoileoin Provocative, funny and mercilessly observant, Niamh Ní Mhaoileoin's striking debut novel mines the complexities of familial love and grief through richly layered characters who wrestle with questions of faith and belonging in present-day Ireland. Sunstruck by William Rayfet Hunter Sensual yet searing, Hunter's acutely observed novel mines themes of race, status and identity, as a working-class Black man attempts to navigate the opulent world of a wealthy family. Saraswati by Gurnaik Johal Blending political satire with ecological parable, Gurnaik Johal's bold, capacious debut finds the lives of seven individuals transformed, as an ancient sacred river springs back to life in a rapidly changing contemporary India. When the Cranes Fly South by Lisa Ridzén, translated by Alice Menzies A bestselling sensation in Ridzén's native Sweden, When the Cranes Fly South is a beautifully bittersweet novel about an ageing man desperate to mend his relationship with his son before it's too late. The Artist by Lucy Steeds Richly evocative of a Provencal summer, Steeds' masterly 1920s-set character study focuses on an enigmatic painter, the young British journalist set on penning a piece on him and the artist's unworldly niece - who harbours an unexpected secret. The Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize 2025 winner will be announced on Thursday, July 24.

Hotel Design in Full Light by Oscar Lucien Ono

LE SOLEIA — THE SUN AS HERITAGE On the very chic Avenue Victor Hugo, in the very heart of Nice, Le Soleia rises like an ode to light, the sea, and the Mediterranean art of living. This new 4-star hotel by Inwood Hotels, entrusted to interior design studio Maison Numéro 20 and its founder Oscar Lucien Ono, celebrates the radiant and sensual spirit of the Riviera with a sense of effortless, joyful elegance. A soft yet brilliant presence, the sun is the soul of Le Soleia. It inspires the hotel's curves, materials, and colours — from marble in ochre hues to the pastel shades of traditional Niçois shutters. Omnipresent, it warms the spaces, highlights the textures, and infuses every detail with a simple, sun-drenched joy. More than just a source of light, it is an invitation to slowness, to Southern beauty, to escape. THE WARM COLOURS OF THE MEDITERRANEAN From the moment you step through the Art Deco façade, the tone is set: generous volumes, natural materials, and enveloping softness. The earthy, pinkish, ochre and beige tones of the walls evoke the sunlit façades of Mediterranean architecture — those time-worn walls in pigments of ochre, sand, and coral, where the sun leaves its mark even on the stone. Throughout the hotel, subtle yet evocative nods appear: the soft pale green of Provençal shutters, the faded pastels of old window frames, the wrought-iron balconies, the gentle shadows cast by louvred blinds… Le Soleia captures these nuances and transforms them into a sensory, glowing experience. In the light-filled lobby, a plaster amphora by artist Thibault Perrigne sits in conversation with a globe-shaped floor lamp, while a sculpted sun watches over the space. The gesture is sculptural, almost mythological. The décor envisioned by Oscar Lucien Ono blends organic lines and artistic references: turned wood, waves, ceramics, wicker, sheer fabrics — everything recalls nature and the touch of the artisan. THE MEDITERRANEAN'S ARTISTIC HERITAGE A passionate admirer of classical art, Oscar Lucien Ono offers Le Soleia a subtle tribute to the Villa Kérylos, a Mediterranean gem in Beaulieu-sur-Mer. The hotel's graphic universe draws freely from it: textile waves, mural frescoes, and spiral trimmings by Houles evoke antique curves, while Thibault Perrigne's amphora adds a sculptural dimension. These subtle touches create an atmosphere that is at once timeless and contemporary. Le Soleia is not merely a hotel: it is an open-air narrative, where art weaves an intimate connection with space. On the walls, frescoes by artist Raphael Schmitt — stylised palm trees and sketched suns — bring a discreet poetry, like a warm breeze brushing the skin. A CELESTIAL CEILING FRESCO As though from a dream, Oscar Lucien Ono imagined and designed a ceiling fresco. Sculpted from laser-cut painted wood and floating overhead, it evokes celestial bodies, the sun, and the breath of the wind. The lines form a fluid, almost organic motion — at once ethereal and calming. This indoor sky, both graphic and contemplative, imparts a sense of freshness and lightness. A discreet yet vibrant artwork, it invites the gaze to rise and the mind to wander. THE RESTAURANT, IN THE SHADE OF THE PALMS Like a garden suspended between sea and sky, the restaurant is dressed in shades of green — from the softest to the most intense. This botanical palette envelops guests in a tranquil interior landscape, reminiscent of a sun-drenched palm grove. Glass screens create plays of light and transparency, echoing the Mediterranean vegetation filtering the sun. A wall-mounted plaster sun completes the scene, like a benevolent star hanging over the day. THE BEDROOMS: COCOONS OPEN TO THE SEA The 46 rooms and suites — 32 of which have terraces — are gentle, light-filled havens designed as Mediterranean cocoons. Three palettes, inspired by the Niçois landscape, adorn the interiors: the golden ochre of sun-warmed façades, terracotta shades evoking the earth and tiled rooftops, and the soft blues and sea greens of the nearby coastline. Texture takes centre stage: wave-like headboards, crumpled C&C Milano fabrics reminiscent of waves against warm sand, seashells placed like talismans, vintage ceramics, and sun motifs by Maison Paradis. Blonde wood, woven wicker, and natural textiles compose a serene, organic harmony. Here, every detail is intended to evoke a sense of calm and simple beauty — in an atmosphere that encourages rest and escape. THE RIVIERA UNVEILED: OPEN AND TIMELESS Le Soleia offers a contemporary, liberated take on the Mediterranean. Through its materials, light, soft forms, and coastal-inspired motifs, Oscar Lucien Ono envisions a place that breathes sea air, sunshine, and joie de vivre. Stylised waves, subtle stripes, pastel and sun-washed tones move throughout the hotel like a visual symphony. It is a place to slow down, find inspiration, reconnect. A tribute to the South — to its effortless beauty and quiet energy. A luminous and sensitive interlude, where every room, corridor, and detail tells the story of a Riviera that is free, vibrant, and timeless. ABOUT OSCAR LUCIEN ONO Following an initial career between Paris and London, Oscar Lucien Ono founded Maison Numéro 20 in 2014, an interior architecture and decoration studio based in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. In line with the tradition of ' ensembliers décorateurs' , he merges interior design with the decorative arts, combining artisanal craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics. Deeply attached to a certain vision of French chic, Oscar undertakes projects both in France and abroad, including private residences, hotels, restaurants, and boutiques. His style, both refined and sensorial, creates a dialogue between eras and materials. With a degree in art history, he approaches each space as a story, where every detail contributes to a subtle narrative. With particular attention to contrast and finishing, Oscar treats light like a painter, playing with chiaroscuro and transparency to bring out the materials and volumes. 'What moves me is creating places that tell a story — where one feels the imprint of the hand, the passage of time, and the presence of beauty.'

Vuitton reopens summer restaurant in Saint-Tropez

Vuitton has reopened its summer restaurant in Saint-Tropez, underlining the luxury label's increasing investment in culinary experiences. Located at the plush White 1921 Hotel near the House's historical store, the restaurant reopens today with an updated menu served on the latest colorful Louis Vuitton tableware collection. Last year, Vuitton's Saint-Tropez restaurant was awarded a Michelin star, thanks to its updated Mediterranean fare—from marbled tomatoes and ravioli filled with girolles to roasted fowl with a fine velouté or brill meunière prepared with seaweed and citrus. The reopening also marks this summer's return of hyper-mediatic chefs Arnaud Donckele and Maxime Frédéric to Vuitton in Saint-Tropez. Donckele and Frédéric first connected with Vuitton's parent company, LVMH, at the conglomerate's five-star hotel in the French capital, Cheval Blanc Paris—most notably at Plénitude, the hotel's three-star restaurant. In Saint-Tropez, Vuitton's restaurant is situated on the famed Place des Lices, site of the resort port's renowned Provençal market each Tuesday and Saturday. Beyond Saint-Tropez, Donckele and Frédéric play leading roles in developing the Louis Vuitton Culinary Community, mentoring emerging local talents around the world who, as Members, contribute to the Louis Vuitton luxury snacking vision. Vuitton now boasts eateries in Milan, Tokyo, Osaka and Bangkok, each overseen by chefs within the Culinary Community. Vuitton cafés have also sprung up in Paris, New York, Bangkok, Japan, Chengdu and soon in Shanghai and Seoul. In effect, the Saint-Tropez restaurant is designed to trumpet Vuitton's longer-term vision of extending the House's concept of excellence and savoir-faire to hospitality around the world. 'We are dedicated to bringing customers a relaxed Louis Vuitton culinary experience—whether in Saint-Tropez or any other destination around the world,' said Donckele. Added Frédéric, 'The Culinary Community allows us to align the Louis Vuitton hospitality offering while still encouraging the chefs to flourish according to their own skills and creativity.' The Saint-Tropez space blends a bright floral pattern similar to a motif seen in LV's 2025 Women's Resort collection, designed in a geometric pattern that reinterprets the Monogram Flowers and made in extra-white Limoges porcelain. The ambience is enhanced with reinterpreted Objets Nomades pieces such as the Mini Bell Lamps designed by Barber & Osgerby and Zanellato/Bortotto's lamps enclosed within interwoven leather. Mixing seasonal and regionally sourced ingredients, the menu merges Mediterranean, French and global cuisines—from Wagyu beef in an aromatic bouillon to grilled bluetail lobster with a shiso-infused sauce to sole amidst locally grown herbs and flowers. May the dining begin.
