Noida Sector 21 rape: Father's friends tied, gagged 9-yr-old victim

A nine-year-old rape survivor has revealed harrowing details of her ordeal to police, stating that three of her father's friends tied her hands and gagged her before raping her multiple times over the past month at her Sector 21 home, while her father was away at work. On Friday, the victim's statement was recorded before the court, as her medical reports are awaited, police said. (Representational image) Sharing details of what she told police, her father told HT on Friday that her statement has been recorded before the court, and her medical reports are awaited. The girl's father, a domestic worker living in servant quarters with his three children, said his daughter finally disclosed the abuse last week after suffering from persistent fever. 'Around a week ago, my daughter, who was suffering from continuous fever, told me these men—all of whom worked nearby and frequented our home—assaulted her more than five times while I was at work and her eight-year-old sister was playing outside,' the distraught father said. 'They tied her hands, taped her mouth, and threatened her into silence,' the father added. The single father, separated from his wife for five years, said he was shattered. 'I never imagined my own friends could do this. People say gated societies are safe, but where does that leave poor families like ours?' Noida deputy commissioner of police Yamuna Prasad confirmed that police have recorded statements from all family members, including the victim's younger sister. No evidence so far suggests the eight-year-old was targeted. 'So far, nothing suspicious involving the younger child has come to fore. We're investigating the matter and will act stringently if any additional offences surface,' Prasad said. The three accused—a 35-year-old from Sector 123 who irons clothes, a 50-year-old security guard who lives in Sector 48, and a 55-year-old from Harola who is a driver—were arrested Wednesday after doctors at Sector 30 hospital alerted police that the girl's medical examination revealed evidence of sexual assault. Later, police recorded the statements of the minor before the magistrate and registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 137(2) for kidnapping, 74 for assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, and 65 for rape, along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. .

Government teacher arrested for raping minor in Rajasthan's Jalore: Police

A government teacher was arrested for his involvement in the rape of a minor girl on Wednesday night in Rajasthan's Jalore district, police said. The minor girl said that the accused first raped her four months ago and had been continuously exploiting her since then. On Wednesday late night, when she was alone at home, the accused entered her house and attempted to rape her. However, hearing her cries, neighbors reached the house and rescued her. In the meantime, the accused fled from the scene. Following this, she approached the police and lodged a case. Anu Choudhary, station house officer at the women police station, confirmed the report adding that a case has been lodged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as the girl was a minor when the accused first allegedly raped her. This incident allegedly occurred when the accused's wife was not home, and he had called the minor to cook at his home. The minor further alleged that the accused then began to blackmail her, threatening to publicly release the videos if she spoke about the incident. Mohanlal Garg, the in-charge of Bagra police station, stated that the minor is presently 18 years and two-months-old, who was married on May 28. After her marriage, she returned to her parents' home. On Wednesday night, with her two brothers not at home, the girl and her unwell mother were at home. At around 9:15pm, the accused allegedly entered their house and went directly to the girl's room, where he attempted to rape her. The girl's screams alerted neighbors, who rushed to the house, after which the accused fled. Following the incident, the girl and her family went to Bagra police station the same night and registered a case of rape. Given that the girl was a minor when the first instance of sexual assault occurred four months ago, the case has been registered under the sections of the POCSO Act. Police have confirmed that a first information report (FIR) has been lodged in the case. 'The girl's medical examination will be done, and her statement will be recorded,' said police officials. 'While the accused teacher was initially absconding and a search was launched, he has since been arrested', the officer said.

Girl, 9, raped by ‘father's friends' in Noida Sector 21; 3 arrested

Police have arrested three men for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl over the past month in Noida's Sector 21, officials said on Thursday. The accused, who police said are friends of the victim's father, were booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The horrific case came to light on Tuesday when the girl's father took her to a private hospital after she complained of persistent illness. During the medical examination, doctors confirmed signs of sexual assault and immediately alerted the authorities. According to police officials, the victim is a Class 1 student who lives with her father and two siblings—an elder brother and younger sister—in the servant quarters of a house where her father is employed. The family has resided in Sector 21 for about 25 years, and the parents are currently separated. The three accused—a 35-year-old from Sector 123 who irons clothes; a 50-year-old security guard who lives in Sector 48; and a 55-year-old from Harola who is a driver —were regular visitors to the family's home. HT is not identifying the three men because it could lead to the victim's identification as well. 'These men were regular visitors to the family's home and took advantage of their access to target the child when she was alone,' explained a senior police officer involved in the investigation, speaking on condition of anonymity. The victim's elder brother explained how the family uncovered the rape. 'My sister was feeling unwell the past week. When her health started to deteriorate, she informed my father that his friends had sexually assaulted her,' he told HT. 'The doctors confirmed the assault during examination and informed police, after which we filed a formal complaint.' Police confirmed that they were informed by doctors at the private hospital. 'Once we got the information, we rushed to the spot and counselled the minor. The girl revealed that her father's three friends who also work close to her home allegedly raped her in three different dates in the last one month,' said a senior police officer, part of the investigation requesting anonymity. Additional deputy commissioner of police Sumit Shukla outlined the charges: 'We have registered the case under BNS sections 137(2) for kidnapping, 74 for assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty, and 65 for rape, along with relevant POCSO Act sections at Sector 20 police station.' The three suspects were arrested on Wednesday and remanded to judicial custody before being produced in court on Thursday. Investigators are working to determine if this was an isolated incident or part of a broader pattern of abuse. 'We are thoroughly examining all claims made by the survivor and her family,' ADCP Shukla added, noting that the girl's condition is currently stable. The case has sent shockwaves through the area, raising questions about child safety and the vulnerability of domestic workers' children. Police have assured the public of a thorough investigation and strict legal action against the perpetrators.
