Indian producer remixes Annie Khalid's hit 'Mahiya'

Indian music producer Yashraj Mukhate has gone viral again with a remix of Annie Khalid's iconic pop hit Mahiya, from her debut album Princess. Known for turning iconic dialogues and viral memes into catchy tunes, Mukhate paired the 2006 song with a clip of a South Asian man responding to an interviewer. When asked if he prefers his maternal or paternal relatives, the man bluntly replies "Rishtedar wala jo lafz hai na, woh jahan bhi aajaye, pasand hi nahi" (The word "relatives", wherever it comes up, I just don't like it). The video, featuring Mukhate looping the line over Khalid's Mahiya, adds a playful twist with lyrics like: "Meri bua ki bhabi ke beti ki shaadi mein kyun jaon, mahiya, ke hoon mein pareshaan, mahiya." It quickly racked up more than 12 million views and 850,000 likes on Instagram. Pakistani celebrities Mawra Hocane, Zoya Nasir, Omair Rana, and Farah Khan Kunder praised the track. Khalid herself responded with laughing emojis and an "Oh yeah, yeah!" to which Mukhate replied by calling her "The OG." Mukhate has previously gone viral with mashups like Rasode Mein Kaun Tha? from Indian drama series Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, and Pawri Ho Rahi Hai, based on a reel by influencer-turned-actor Dananeer Mobeen. Khalid's Mahiya became an instant pop phenomenon when it dropped in 2006. As her debut single, it catapulted her to fame across Pakistan and among South Asians globally. With its catchy melody, romantic lyrics, and slick music video, Mahiya helped define the mid-2000s pop sound and cemented Khalid's status as a breakout star. The song was later featured in the 2007 Bollywood film Awarapan, re-recorded by Suzanne D'Mello. Still, the original version remains a classic and opened doors for more women in Pakistan's pop scene. In a 2013 interview with Economic Times, Khalid talked about staying true to her Muslim roots while projecting the glamourous image the Western music industry requires. "I pray five times a day. I don't need to prove to anyone that I'm a good Muslim," she said. "I won't be twerking because I don't think it's cool. But if Miley Cyrus wants to do it, that's great." The pop star also voiced support for Muslim women's right to wear face veils in public.

Princess Andre supported by step-mum Emily as Katie Price parties in Ibiza

Princess Andre attended a glitzy celebrity event with her step-mum Emily, while Katie Price enjoyed some downtime with her famous pals in Ibiza's super clubs Katie Price's eldest daughter, Princess, was supported by step-mum Emily on Wednesday night as the pair got dressed up to attend a glitzy showbiz event. Princess Andre, 17, and her Emily, 35, were looking glam at a party for Boohoo. Princess looked a dead-ringer for her model mum who has been partying through her latest holiday to Ibiza. Katie has been papped super clubs including Pacha and at Wayne Lineker 's Ocean Beach. ‌ Back at home, Princess happily posed for pictures as she arrived at the fashion brand's Martinis At Sundown summer party on Wednesday, as the UK basked in soaring temperatures across the nation. The social media influencer wore a strapless pink summery dress for the occasion, which was decorated with striking orange floral designs. ‌ The young star, who has made a name for herself with dozens of high-profile brand deals, added to her height with a pair of nude heels and completed her outfit with a white handbag. Princess rocked her signature blonde hair in loose natural waves, flowing freely over her shoulders and down her torso. Her striking yellow number was decorated with pink flowers, and she kept her look minimal with a white handbag and nude-coloured heels as she braved the scorching temperatures. Other celebs in attendance included Love Island's Molly Smith and her boyfriend Tom Clare, Joey Essex and new mum Arabella Chi. Princess' outing comes just days after she reunited with her famous mum Katie following her headline slot at Portsmouth Pride, where the former model turned TV star and singer delighted fans with live music. Princess shared a string of backstage snaps with her mum on social media as she supported her from backstage. Captioning her video, which she filmed from the side of the stage, Princess penned: "She's such a baddie." Another image of the pair showed Katie offering a huge smile towards the camera while Princess pouted for their selfie. ‌ But while Princess was busy celebrating in London, Katie has been making the most of her trip to Ibiza and documented her travels and nights out on social media. The former glamour model turned adult star has been partying with the likes of Chloe Ferry, Conor McGregor and Wayne Lineker on the infamous party island. It comes after reports that Princess is set to star in her own ITV reality show documenting her life behind the scenes. However, her mum Katie will not appear in the fly-on-the-wall series, while her father, Peter Andre and older brother Junior will all make an appearance. ‌ The series will document Princess's life as she prepares to celebrate her upcoming 18th birthday as well as her rise to solo stardom. Speaking to the MailOnline, a source said: "Katie will not be in Princess's show, the decision has been made and it's final. "Princess loves her mum, and they have a great relationship, but the show is all about her work and home life. Television bosses were adamant that nothing was to be 'staged' to include Katie as it would not be a real and truthful insight into her life." A source went on to explain that Princess had grown up with her parents on reality shows. They added that execs had been "really impressed" with the young star's level of professionalism and attitude towards her working career. Princess is said to be hopeful that the move will help her launch a career modelling on the catwalk.

What it's like to be a Wimbledon ball kid By Alison Maloney WHILE the likes of Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff and Andy Murray keep us entertained during this summer's Championships, spare a thought for those unsung heroes that keep the tournament going. Personal trainer Alex Crockford, now 33, served as a ball boy at Wimbledon in 2005 and 2006, and has lifted the lid to SunSport on what it's really like. 'Standing still for hours is one of the toughest parts of being a ball boy,' he says. 'It's quite strict and you don't want to let your team down or feel like you're doing a bad job. 'I remember one really hot day, I clearly hadn't fuelled or hydrated myself appropriately. "I did have a very faint moment, and started seeing blurry stars. 'There are six BBGs on the court and a captain, which was me, so I was standing to the left of the umpire chair and I was away from my water. 'I had to go outside of my position, get some water and re-balance myself before I could continue." Click here to read Alex's ball boy story in full.

Regal visitor gets right royal welcome as Belfast greets its 1,500th cruise ship

Representatives of Belfast Harbour exchanged gifts with the crew of the 330m long ship, and a cake was cut onboard the Princess, with traditional Irish musicians and dancers entertaining guests. The Princess has become part of Belfast's rotation of cruise ships, stopping here as part of its fortnight-long tour of Ireland and Britain. Cruises on the Princess start at standard prices over £1,500, and for that passengers get a private cabin, some with balconies, access to numerous restaurants, a three-floor 'piazza' of shops and eateries bedecked in marble and dark wood panelling, a casino and open-air pools. It is an enormous ship, standing more than 60m tall, with the ability to carry over 3,500 guests and 1,300 crew. Those crew come from all over the world; one staff member who spoke to the Belfast Telegraph was from Zimbabwe, and works on the Princess for months at a time in between visits back home. She said she loves her job, as the role lets her out of the house after being in lockdown during the pandemic in 2020 and lets her travel internationally. The ship has been captained by Aldo Traverso, who has deep connections to the it, for the last eight years. 'I'm particularly proud to be on board Regal Princess, because I was part of the building team back in 2014,' he said. 'This vessel has a special place in my heart.' Navigating the ship is a 24-hour job, with Captain Traverso and his crew able to pilot it from the front of the bridge, and from the sides, where they can get a view down the length of the enormous vessel. 'For me, but also for many of the crew, it's actually considered home, because we love it so much, looking after our guests.' Most of the passengers on board come from North America, but on Wednesday morning many of them were disembarking and heading for taxis and buses that would ferry them all over Northern Ireland. Mary Jo McCanny, director of visitor experience at Visit Belfast, said that passengers make the most out of their 12-or-so hours in Northern Ireland, with some travelling as far away as Fermanagh and Derry. Mrs McCanny believes a cruise fits in 'really well' to Belfast's tourism offering, despite passengers spending less money on hospitality and restaurants. 'The spend is not on main meals, but is on cafes and bars, retail — they love our local gifts — tours, attractions; that's where the real money goes into from the cruise visitors.' Gary Hall, the commercial director of Belfast Harbour, estimates that cruises bring between £20-25m into Belfast's economy every year, with each passenger spending around £75 on average. Some of this income has been reinvested into welcoming more passengers. The harbour has a dedicated cruise terminal, which has information desks, and a gift shop. Music is played to give cruise guests a flavour of the city, and an acoustic duo were performing there yesterday morning. It's a far cry from when cruise ships first arrived in 1996, when they were 'taking a punt' on Belfast, in Mr Hall's words. The Harbour has expensive and extensive plans to build a new, dedicated, cruise dock and 'work has already started to develop a new quay,' said Mr Hall. 'We're investing the most the port has ever seen — £90m to develop a new deep water quay and associated infrastructure and terminal, to facilitate some of the world's largest cruise ships. 'We're really looking forward to that facility opening for the 2028 season.'
