Chase ends with police car maneuver into Westchester Township farm field
A pursuit that started in Porter ended when a police officer executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, forcing the vehicle into a farm field in Westchester Township Wednesday night. Matthew Mocabee, 21, of Portage, was charged with a Level 6 felony of resisting law enforcement and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and reckless driving. The situation started around 8:30 p.m. when a Porter Police officer attempted to stop a motorist, who had been seen tailgating and passing other vehicles on a double-yellow line around the 700 block of North Waverly Road. Mocabee, who was driving a 2004 Dodge Neon, kept going and turned eastbound on U.S. 20, police said. The chase wound down country roads in Westchester and Pine townships and reached speeds in excess of 100 mph. It was in the area of Burdick Road and County Road 575 East that the police officer executed the PIT maneuver that pushed the Neon into the field. Mocabee wasn't hurt and offered no resistance when he was arrested. The Porter County Sheriff's Office also assisted in the arrest.

16-year-old charged in connection to stolen vehicles in Rowan County
ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 16-year-old has been charged after allegedly stealing multiple vehicles and injuring a deputy's patrol vehicle during a chase, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office. Around 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, deputies were looking for a stolen Kia near East Ritchie Road after the car's owner said there was a tracking device on it and it showed to be in that area. Deputies were able to find the stolen Kia in a wooded area off the dead end of East Ritchie Road, along with two other Kias that were reportedly stolen. While processing the scene of those vehicles, deputies got a call about a blue Kia that ran a woman off the road in the direction of East Ritchie Rd. Earlier, deputies learned from officers in Salisbury that there was a stolen blue Kia that had yet to be found, officials said. Deputies saw the blue Kia pull up to the area with two juveniles inside. When the suspects saw the deputies, the driver quickly turned, crossing over a ditch, and almost hit the tow truck on the scene. Driver arrested after crash injures 3 children at lemonade stand in Burke County A pursuit began, and the suspects led officers on Old Concord Road towards Cabarrus County at speeds of 70-100 mph. Deputies tried multiple times to end the pursuit by executing a PIT maneuver (aka the Precision Immobilization Technique), but failed because the driver served and hit the deputy's patrol vehicle. A PIT maneuver was finally successful, ending the pursuit in Cabarrus County at the intersection of Old Concord Road and Irish Potato Road. The deputy's vehicle was damaged during the pursuit after a tire came off the suspect's vehicle. The two juveniles were the only ones in the vehicle and were taken into custody. Neither was injured; however, the passenger agreed to be taken to a hospital to get checked out. Deputies were denied a secure custody order when they asked the Department of Juvenile Justice about one for felony fleeing to elude arrest, and assault with a deadly weapon on law enforcement. According to the sheriff's office, due to the fact that the secure custody order was denied, and in the State of North Carolina, certain chapter 20, motor vehicle laws are not subject to Raise the Age and are handled in adult court. The 16-year-old driver was charged with felony flee to elude arrest and booked in a juvenile detention facility under a $50,000.00 bond. Authorities said the case is still under investigation and more charges are likely to be filed with juvenile court authorities. CSPD: Car chase ends in PIT maneuver and arrest of minor
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 00 block of Stanford Street, near Pikes Peak Avenue and South Academy Boulevard, leading to a car chase and the arrest of a minor on Sunday morning, June 8. CSPD reported that around 2 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to the scene after receiving multiple calls of shots fired and a report that a male had been shot. When they arrived, a suspect vehicle was leaving the scene and nearly hit an officer who was approaching on foot. Police chased the vehicle and performed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to apprehend the driver. Texas DPS: 6 apprehended after pursuit near UTEP
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Six people were apprehended after a failed traffic stop ended in a pursuit involving the Texas Department of Public Safety troopers on Tuesday morning, May 27, near the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). The preliminary investigation shows that shortly after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, a Texas DPS trooper spotted a black Nissan Versa on Paisano Drive and tried to pull it over for a violation. However, the driver didn't stop and fled from the trooper, DPS said. During the pursuit, the rear tire was disabled with stop sticks, but the car continued toward Loop 375, DPS said. DPS said another trooper used the Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT), causing the car to hit a concrete barrier before stopping on Loop 375 near Spur 1966. That's alongside UTEP. All occupants were apprehended. The driver was taken into custody by DPS, and U.S. Border Patrol took the five other passengers, suspected to be undocumented migrants, DPS said. Kidnapped SC woman asks stranger to get help at I-20 rest stop, Georgia cops say
A suspected kidnapping came to light in an unusual way, when the victim was given a bathroom break and she risked asking a passerby at the rest stop to call 911, Georgia investigators say. It happened around 8:50 a.m. Saturday, May 17, in Morgan County, Georgia, and that 911 call set off a multi-county pursuit, according to the Covington Police Department in Georgia. The woman had been abducted earlier that day from her home in South Carolina, officials said. 'An adult female approached an individual at the rest stop on Interstate 20 in Morgan County stating that she had been kidnapped and asked the individual to call 911,' Covington police said in May 19 news release. 'The individual was able to contact 911 and give a description of the vehicle and the female victim. Officers began patrolling Interstate 20 (and) observed the vehicle traveling west on Interstate 20.' A traffic stop was initiated, but the vehicle stopped only briefly, revealing 'the victim still inside,' police said. 'Officers began a vehicle pursuit on Interstate 20 westbound. The vehicle subsequently stopped in Rockdale County after a successful PIT maneuver (Precision Immobilization Technique) by the Newton County Sheriff's Office,' Covington police said. 'The suspect, Charles Davis, attempted to flee on foot but was tased and quickly apprehended. The victim was unharmed and was safely recovered.' Investigators say the ordeal began when Davis forced his way into the victim's home and took her against her will. A motive has not been released, and investigators have not said where Davis was headed when the vehicle was stopped. Jail records show he lives in Batesburg, South Carolina, about a 35-mile drive southwest from Columbia. The location of the victim's home was not released.
