Revanth expands Cabinet
Hyderabad: The much-awaited State Cabinet expansion took place on Sunday, with three Ministers taking oath and being inducted into the Cabinet. G Vivek Venkataswamy (Chennur), Adluri Laxman Kumar (Dharmapuri), and Vakiti Srihari (Makthal) were sworn in as ministers by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at a ceremony at Raj Bhavan. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, his Cabinet colleagues, Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud, and senior officials attended the ceremony. Vivek Venkataswamy took oath in English, while the remaining two were sworn in Telugu. This is the first expansion of the Cabinet, which was formed on December 7, 2023, with the swearing-in of the Chief Minister and 11 ministers. The long-delayed expansion took place after the All India Congress Committee (AICC) cleared the names of the three ministers. Although there are still three more vacant berths in the Cabinet, the party leadership has decided not to fill them for now. The state can have a maximum of 18 ministers, including the Chief Minister. With this expansion, the Telangana cabinet now comprises 15 members. The current cabinet composition reflects a somewhat lopsided mix of social groups, including four members from the Reddy community, four SCs, three BCs, and one each from Velama, Brahmin, Kamma and SC communities. Meanwhile, reports suggest that another cabinet expansion may be undertaken soon, with several sulking aspirants and new ones vying for a chance to join the ranks of ministers.

PCC chief accuses government of showing favouritism in allocation of shops
Member of Parliament and president of Pradesh Congress Committee V. Vaithilingam has accused the AINRC-BJP government of bias in allotment of shops in the new complex constructed at Anna Thidal under the Smart City project. Speaking at the PCC office after inducting traders into the party, Mr. Vaithilingam said the government was functioning against the general interests of the trading community. Traders associated with the ruling establishment have alone benefitted, he said. 'While shops at the new bus stand have not been allotted even after commencement of bus services from the complex, shops at Anna Thidal are being allotted to people close to the ruling party even before the facility is inaugurated,' he said. Former Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy and several other Congress leaders attended the event.

Wildlife activist Radheshyam Pemani among four killed in road accident in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer
Four people, including a wildlife activist and a forest department personnel, were killed after the camper vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district, PTI news agency reported on Saturday, citing officials. The deceased have been identified as wildlife activist Radheshyam Pemani, Shyam Vishnoi, Kanvraj Singh and forest guard Surendra Chaudhary, police said. Radheshyam Pemani was known for his efforts to protect the Great Indian Bustard. According to the police, the accident took place under the Lathi Police Station area on Friday night when the victims were going to check on a tip-off about deer hunting by poachers. Police officials said that the camper vehicle was crushed due to the impact of the collision, trapping all four occupants. They had to be taken out using a crane, according to PTI. Tributes poured from political leaders in Rajasthan over the accident and the death of the wildlife activist and forest department personnel. Rajasthan chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Govind Singh Dotasra condoled the deaths. "It is extremely painful to hear about the deaths of Radheshyam Pemani, Shyam Vishnoi, Kanvraj Singh and forest department employee Surendra Choudhary, who were dedicated to the conservation of environment and wildlife, in a horrific road accident in Jaisalmer," Sharma said. Ashok Gehlot also shared Pemani's photo on X and expressed grief over his death. He added that said that his dedication to nature and wildlife will remain unforgettable. 'Received the sad news about the untimely demise of wildlife enthusiast Mr Radheshyam Pemani in a road accident while he was on his way for a wildlife rescue in the Lathi region of Jaisalmer,' Gehlotwrote. Congress to launch 'Jai Hind Yatra' nationwide in support of Operation Sindoor
